Many appreciate the convenient retractable microphone and the impressive bass response, while some find the included lighting effects visually appealing. Great gaming headset!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been looking for a new gaming headset for a while, and I thought I would give this a try...and i'm glad I did. I primarily game on a PS4 and on my PC. This headset works great for both of those purposes. It was very easy to get up and running with these as well...couldn't be any easier. The build quality of these headphones is pretty solid. They don't feel flimsy or anything like that. They sit on my head comfortably, and I am able to wear them for hours without feeling any discomfort. I have done some tests recording audio with the microphone, and the audio is very crisp and clear. I also like that the microphone is retractable, so that when you are storing the headphones there is less of a chance of the mic breaking off or getting damaged. Hopefully over time that part will hold up and not turn into a negative point about the headphones. As far as the sound quality goes...its it amazing. It is a very immersive sound, and it really does almost feel like a 7.1 surround sound system on your head. They deliver crisp highs and mids and a good thunderous bass...but its not too over powerful like you find with some other headsets that are all about the bass. I would definitely give these a try if you are looking for a new cross platform gaming headset. I don't think you will be disappointed!

Great Sound-limited systems
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones have a great sound quality. They are USB (not 3.5mm or 8mm). There is also a built-in retractable microphone in the left earpiece. They are bulky, full over ear headphones, so if you like a lighter fit they will not be for you. If you prefer the full headphone with great noise cancelling ability then this is good for you. I initially picked these up to use on my Xbox One and computer. Warning, they do not work on all systems (namely Xbox). They do work on PC/Mac and PS4. Make sure you check the compatibility before you purchase. The other Kraken Pro V2 works on PC/PS4/Xbox/Mobile Devices w/ a 3.5mm jack. (FYI, the Kraken 7.1 V2 w/ USB does not list PS4 on the Best Buy site, but does on the Razer site.) The side ear covers also have Chroma lighting effects (look cool, change colors on the Razer logo) For just listening, the headphones are plug and play with a PC (I don't have a PS4 or Mac so I cannot attest). I have not had a chance to install or test the mic and software on my PC yet. But the Synapse program allows you to configure controls with other Razer devices and track your in-game movements. This product seems a very good quality.

Good Sound. Decent Mic. Solid Value.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used this on my PC for games like Oblivion and it did not disappoint. Build quality feels okay but could be a lot better for the headband and wiring. Ear cups feel comfortable enough but could also be better. I like the retractable mic feature but muting is a little more challenging. The mic quality is decent and I have to speak more loudly for people to hear me clearly. Mic does a good job of noise cancellation and isolating only my voice. Audio quality is good and bass is strong enough. The SNR is 55 db and is very noticeable on higher volumes. Headsets that I have owned usually have 90 db and higher. Overall I would recommend these headsets. They are a solid value for the money you pay. PROS: Nice design. Retractable boom microphone. Active noise cancellation (PC). Comfy earcups. Not expensive. CONS: Need to speak more loudly for microphone to pickup voice. Low SNR (~55 db) Mediocre build quality.

They work.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought these because Turtle Beach support was not helpful. Mute is on the mic so you have to raise your hand to mute/unmute which takes it away from the controls. Sometimes the mute gets stuck on or off.

Ok but not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought these less than a month ago for my husband as a Christmas gift but a few days ago, the mic stopped working. Other than that he enjoyed them for the few weeks he used them.

Excellent Sound - Comfort - Right on the Money
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What is really cool about the Kraken Headset is 365-degree Surround Sound and a wonderfully comfortable fit. No setup is required, the mic is clear and crisp and the Kid loves that the headset lights up! Love the retractable mic which is well made, makes so much sense to be able to make the mic disappear when not in use. Razer has delivered some of the nicest headsets I have seen at a Great Price. Have tried several much more expensive sets, but for my money the Kraken hits the sweet spot and delivers everything that I want in a headset. Would have liked to have seen an in-line volume control. The Kraken delivers on amazing Game sound, and surprisingly for a gaming headset it works just as well with music with several pre-sets. Get in the game and get Kraken!

Meh at best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Uncomfortable after short period even with 'normal' sized ears. Sound and bass were great for a while till something in the drivers went funky and they would pop and crackle. Razer synapse is a hassle and full of bugs. Updated several times a week and doesn't clean up after itself bloating the install folder and taking up space. Returned on best buy protection plan

Wonderful headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start with that these are big. The ear cups are an over ear and leave lots of room for placement. The sound is great and the option to push the mic back in and out of the way is very nice. My only complaint is the Razor software that you need to use if you want to change the colors or calibrate the surround sound effects. It updates a lot and the first couple of times it will need to have you restart. Not a deal breaker as these headphones are worth it.

Top Gaming Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took a while to really use these to make sure that I had an accurate review, as headphones and audio equipment tend to be very subjective. The unboxing was pretty straightforward and the packaging is pretty solid and nice. I immediately realized that the connector was USB only, so no headphone jacks here! I also noticed that the cord is not all that long, so you will need to be in close proximity to whatever equipment you use these on. I hooked them up to my PS-4 right away and was first taken in by the cool LED effect on the outer shell of the headphones. After adjusting and fiddling to get them just right it was off to game time. I used Madden 17 to put them through their paces right away, and was blown away by what I could here versus through my TV or surround. I'm not much into online gaming, but I challenged my nephew on Madden and we talked back and forth. He said that the microphone sounded good, but there were times that it echoed or muted (could have been the connection, so can't necessarily blame the headphones). We went through an entire game and I did not notice any pressure points other than I think a little more padding in the headrest could have helped. I then tried them on my MacBook with a movie and again was surprised with the clarity and being able to pinpoint actions on the screen with the sounds in the Razers. It was quite astounding! Overall, I think these are well worth their price. As I don't use the mic as much, I'm not sure of the quality there, but it seemed to work well for me. Construction was good for this price point and I believe these would be a welcome addition to any gamer/movie enthusiast needing headphones, as long as you have the right system!

Very good headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked these headphones once I was able to get them set up. Upon first plugging them in my computer didn't recognize them. I went to the Razer website to install the support software, but unfortunately the program "hung" on install. I ended up restarting the computer, which got the headphones working but not the mic. I still couldn't install the software (kept saying an installation was pending) so I gave up on that. I ended up going into my computers settings and adjusting the mic input there. A bit of a hassle but it worked out okay. The headphones themselves took some adjusting (I have a big head haha) so I had to pull them out to their farthest setting. The ear pads are comfortable and didn't feel like they were smashing my ears like other headphones do. I play with glasses on so this is especially important to me. The sound quality was very rich--music and games both sounded awesome. The mic quality is very good as well. No one I talked to had any trouble understanding me, nor did they have to ask me to turn my mic down for being too loud. The downsides: The USB cable is a bit short compared to other gaming headsets. Not a big deal if you use them for computer gaming since that's not usually too far away, but console gaming this can be a bit of an issue as you may end up having to sit closer than is ideal. The other drawback (which is more a matter of personal taste) is that there are no separate volume or mic controls on the cord. If it's too loud you have to adjust through your computer's settings. If you want to mute the mic you have to actually push a button on the mic. Both of those controls are rather awkward, especially if you're used to the controls being on the cord. Overall these are terrific sounding and very comfortable headphones.

Amazing sound quality!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am amazed with the sound quality of these headphones. I'm not an audiophile by any means but it sounded good to me. I also had a couple of audiophile friends also try my headphones. They both reported superior sound quality. Voices during movie playback are crystal clear. My son however believes the bass isn't enough. He never believes the bass is enough though. Teenagers. When a friend tried them, I had on an action movie. There was a gunshot while he was listening and he actually flinched! Pretty good indicator that sound quality is awesome. The virtual surround works very well. They are very comfortable even though they are a bit heavy.I do love the style. Razer anything is gorgeous! The logos on the ear covers light up as does the mic when it's muted. About the mic. I like that it lights up when it's muted a great indicator. Also love that the mic retracts! We did have to go into settings and turn up the mic volume because no one could hear me during messenger calls. Not sure if it's the device or windows that starts it off so low. This headset is my now my go-to for when I'm on PC and gaming or even watching movies! Feels like I'm actually there.

Excellent sound and operation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The V1 of these had their problems and the v2 seems to have addressed any doubts. The chord is wrapped in a nylon mesh and all connections are protected. The shoulder at the usb connection is a rubberized material rather than a brittle plastic. The build quality feels great. The strap around your head is metal and that extends around he outer part of the speaker. The headband is adequately padded as well as the ear piece. The microphone feels substantial. It gets even better, as a plug and play the sound is amazing, use the Synapse app, even better. The microphone retracts into the left side ear piece so they can be used as headphones as long as you have a usb port. They are large, but with size comes room for awesome sound. They are not noise cancelling but the fit keeps normal noises out and the music in. I tested them by making Skype calls and playing multiple games, they worked flawlessly. The only shortcoming I can think of is the length of the usb chord..at just over 6'-0" it doesn't give you a lot of room to move around. I would highly recommend these.

Great Headset, Software Maybe Not
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a ton to be said about the Razer Kraken V2. Comfortable to wear for long periods. Great positional audio experience. Clear mic with audio passthrough to the headset. Great (if not exceptional) sound quality. It does precisely what I would expect from a USB headset. The downsides are the somewhat short cable. Probably not an issue for most, but if your PC sits on the floor and you do not have available front USB ports it can be a no-go without an extension cable. Additionally, the Razer software is a big question mark. Once in the software it is well laid out and works without issue. It's the getting into the software that raised an eyebrow. When I went to create my Razer account their server was experiencing issues and I was unable to create an account. It then dawned on me that the headset was beholden to my ability to log in to Razer. Why? I should be able to use the hardware without contacting the mothership. After a day of twiddling my thumbs the server error went away and I was able to quickly setup a new account. Let's just hope the server doesn't go down again when I want to use the headset. Overall, it is a great piece of hardware and one can even coordinate the RGB lights to your other Razer gear should you have any. A solid value in comparison to headsets from Corsair and Logitech and I would certainly recommend the Kraken V2 to others.

Excellent Sound Quality and Feel Great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones sound amazing. The build quality is good, not overbuilt by any means, but not flimsy or cheap feeling either. They are super lightweight and have enormous ear cup cushions, so comfort lasts as long as you wear them. The retractable boom mic sounds crystal clear and is long enough and flexible enough to position just about any way you need to, and great for large heads like mine. They are wired, but the cable is super long and braided. Even though the cable is braided it is super flexible, not rigid at all, so once it's plugged in, you forget it's there. My kids think the ear cups lighting is super cool. They are USB only, so they will only work with computers and the PS4, not the Xbox, so be aware of that if you are planning to get these to console game. Razer has other headphones designed for consoles so if you are not PC gaming, I would look into another model.

Great headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The kraven 7.1 V2 headset is an absolute diamond in the rough. Out of hundreds of headsets at this price point these by far outshine many. The sound quality is astounding. The 7.1 surround sound does an excellent job of immersing you into the world of video games. The ear cups are big and comfortable being able to game for extended periods of time without discomfort. I love that the mic is retractable for use and non-use it also has an l.e.d light to indicate when the mic is muted. The earcups have a set of color changing l.e.d that add nothing to the sound but make the headset look a little more cooler. The braided USB cable is frustration proof. No tangles. Decent length so you don't have to be extremely close to your system since it uses USB. All of this culminates in one great headset. Most gamers will love this headset.
