Can't use on Xbox
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Razer Kraken 7.1 headphones because I thought they would connect to my Xbox one by USB. They do not unless you purchase a bunch of other connectors. Had to return them.

Great product for features vs cost
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Razer - Kraken 7.1 Wired Virtual Surround Sound Chroma V2 is one of the over the ear wired headset I have used so far. It has solid build and great sound quality. Illuminating logo on the sides looks great, also it turns red when the mic is muted. Virtual sound effect has executed beautifully in this headset. I could not ask for any bette experience on my Windows machine. On the Mac side, I found it is ok but not that great. I believe optional windows software is the game changer. On the down sides - you need to sign up for an account to use the windows software. - there is no volume or mute controls other than using pc/Mac resources Having said the down sides, I would still recommend this gaming headset :)

Fantastic Sound Quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First note, while this is a USB headset, it is NOT a wireless USB headset. Despite my initial confusion upon opening the box, I still find this headset to be of high quality. The microphone is extremely sensitive to ambient noises, and while you can hear them enhanced in your own earphones, they do not transfer to anyone else you may be chatting with. The sound quality is clear and crisp, and the surround sound is very well articulated. The earpieces and head piece are well-padded and extremely comfortable, and hours of using them have not caused any strain, soreness, or discomfort. The mute function is a bit too easy to activate upon telescoping the mic, but it is easy enough to avoid once you get used to it.

Great sound if you can overlook some of its flaws
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headset produces great surround sound, but it needs Razer Synapse in order to use the 7.1 surround so using it for PS4 will only yield stereo. It’s really bulky and not great for traveling. The ear cups are soft but may squeeze a bit hard, depending on the individual, and can get sweaty after prolonged use. The mic is fully retractable and easy to bend, but it picks up background noise and sometimes drop in volume. It also lacks inline volume controls. Good: -Great immersive sound -Soft ear cups -Works with PS4, but only in stereo and you’ll need a long extension cable Bad: -Bulky -No inline volume control -Razer Synapse Bottom line is that this headset can produce great immersive sounds for a decent price. Gaming sounds great. Even though it’s virtual surround, it does a good job a simulating sound direction. There’s a bit of a jump when the sound is traveling behind you, but nothing too bad. Music and movies also sound good in either surround or stereo. Setup was simple, with a quick calibration through Razer Synapse. These are not subtle. They are quite bulky and is very much “gamer” design. It’s definitely not a portable headset. Build quality is nice and are relatively comfortable, but after some time, it did get sweaty and it starts to feels like it’s squeezing a bit too tight. The mic does pick up a lot of background noise and messing with the settings didn’t seem to improve it by much. There’s no inline control other than the mute button, which is disappointing at this price range. All volume adjustments are made within Synapse. I’ve never been a fan of the always online, cloud based Synapse. Unfortunately, you need it running in order for the headset to work properly. You can set it up once, and disable Synapse from starting (through windows startup only), but that can cause sound problems when you unplug the headset. Within Synapse, you can calibrate the surround sound, the EQ levels and music presets, and adjust mic volume and noise cancellation, and adjust the RGB. For the price, it does meet expectations. Still if you’re looking for a headset that can be used for gaming and on the go, or if you prefer surround without the software, there are better choices at a bit higher price range.

A LOT of Bang for your Buck
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These cans are my new daily driver. Massive improvement over the original Krakens. First off, THANK YOU RAZER for subduing the loud and over the top neon green Razer logos that are typically found on older Razer products. It always made me feel like I had a product marketed for a 13 year old. I really like that Razer has taken more of a minimalist and clean look with their branding. On these new Krakens I love how "RAZER" is subtly and cleanly etched on the top of the matte black headband. The rest of the design and construction quality is simply superb. A matte black scheme with perfect symmetry. The construction is mixed material with plastic and aluminum. The inner headband insert is metal and so is some of the construction around the headphones. I personally prefer mixed materials. Not only does it keep the cost down, but it keeps the weight down. I have three hundred dollar gaming headphones that sound great but due to the amount of metal used, they are extremely heavy and cause fatigue. These Krakens are incredibly light!!! The plastic also feels premium. They kept it very simple, understated, and clean. I love it!!! The earpad cushionings are some of the most comfortable I've ever felt. They feel like extremely soft leather/pleather. These things were designed for long gaming sessions or for just wearing them for long periods. I absolutely love the unobtrusive clean design for the microphone. It sits retracted on the left earcup. You simply pull it out when you want to use it and push it back in when you're not. This is perfect for people like me who get annoyed by always having to have a mic sticking out. It also has a convenient mute button built right into the mic. Everything is so subtle on these headphones; LOVE IT!!!. As far as the sound is concerned, I could not have asked for a better audio experience at this price point. Gaming in 7.1 sounded great and surprisingly, music sounded pretty good as well! (Music genre tested was Electronic Dance Music). I fired up several titles like DOOM, Overwatch, Witcher 3, and Fallout 4 and I was extremely satisfied for the price point that these headphones are marketed at. The spatial audio recognition was dead accurate. I heard sounds coming from the direction they were intended to come from. There is a decent amount of bass but not enough to overpower the rest of the sound stage. Adding to this experience was the Razer Synapse app. It displays the applications in use and allows you to easily toggle between 7.1 and 2.0 audio. This was incredibly useful for me because I constantly switch back and forth between listening to music and gaming. Another neat feature is you're able to change the lighting scheme with the Razer Synapse app. You can change the color and effect such as static lighting, a breating effect, and color spectrum cycling. Are there any cons? Of course there are. At this price point, you're not going to get everything. For me however, they are very minor. Personally, I would have liked to see a little more padding on the headband. The padding that is on the headband is sufficient but adding a bit more would have felt like clouds on my head! Also, it would have been nice to include an in-line control to change the volume on the fly. However, that also would have added more "drag weight" to the cord so I'm not really sure how I feel about that. Maybe that's why Razer decided to omit it to keep it as light as possible. Overall, I am very pleased and impressed with this product by Razer. They are giving the customer A LOT of bang for their buck. If your budget is around a hundred dollars, do yourself a favor and just get these.

Not too shabby
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the money these are great headphones and I wouldn't hesitate to buy them at this price range. I prefer my Tritton's at this point. The quality of these seem decent, metal frames should hold up well, foam ears and padding is great and feels good for prolonged periods. The audio is crisp and clear, the bass is decent and the 7.1 sounds pretty good. The lights are a nice touch as well as the retractable boom mic, seems like it should last. I wish it had a volume setting somewhere on the headset itself. I tried them out with music, movies and gaming with no major complaints.

Comfortable, But Has A Few Flaws.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you first plug in them into the USB port, it will automatically install Synapse 2.0. You will need to create an account to use it. It sync's your profile, kind of like how Steam works. There is also an option to go "Offline". I highly recommend this option, as I was having issues with it trying to connect to their server when I first started my PC. This was essentially locking up the software, and I couldn't use it. This software is required to make the virtual 7.1 sound work, that's right, virtual 7.1. These are standard stereo headphones with a software surround sound option, that in my opinion, messed up the direction of sound in most games I've played. It will also allow you to change your colors and tweak the mic and EQ settings. Having used them all weekend long, I have determined that the Virtual 7.1 surround sound to be annoying. The standard 2.0 stereo sound option yielded much better sound to me. Especially in Black Ops 3. And let's talk about the sound. I would say the sound quality is just ok. To me, they sound a bit hollow. I've tried using the EQ to fix the sound, but nothing really worked for me. Also the cord makes a lot of noise in the ear piece when it rubs up on your clothes. The mic works really well, and it's very easy to get it out of the way. Also I've worn these for hours on end with glasses on, and no fatigue at all. They are very comfortable. Honestly, I have a set of earbuds that I regularly use that sound much better than this gaming headset in my opinion. If you really need a mic, this would be a viable option for you.

Great Headset for Proximity Gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disclaimer: I used the Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 Headset on PlayStation 4 only. Razer caters more toward competitive gaming (which isn't my scene), but I gave this headset a go on my PS4 Pro. I've only tested two games, including a rhythm game for a wide spectrum of audio, and a shooter where surround sound is required. I own a Sony PlayStation Gold Wireless Stereo Headset and compared the two for each game, as they're similar in price. For both games, this headset output audio perfectly. All noise comes through loud and clean. The Kraken actually output at a higher volume compared to the Gold Wireless Headset. Initially there was some slight popping, but I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and the issue resolved itself. As for the microphone, everything comes through clearly. This is not so much the case with the other headset, as friends have often had some difficulty hearing me. The Kraken did have its fair share of issues, though they're more nitpicks. It does not have the ability to adjust volume--it must be done in the settings of the device that it's connected to. And because it's a USB headset, it's not very suitable for living room gaming due to the cable extending approximately six feet. While the microphone level was great, what bothered me was the lack of any noise cancellation. It picked up the slightest noises from across the room. Anyone listening would be able to hear everything going on in whichever room you're in. The Kraken has active noise cancellation, but it wasn't happening for me on a PS4. Overall, this is a great headset for proximity gaming. I often use my Gold Wireless headset so that I can sit at my sofa a fair distance from my TV, so there may not be many instances that I'd put these on over the aforementioned headset. If you usually sit far from your TV, I'd recommend a different headset unless you extend the reach.

Excellent headset for price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset is by far one of the best for the price. They fit well and are balanced. They are well made and sturdy but not overly heavy. The set up was very easy and I had no issues with it. Sound is very good and the mic lights up when muted. Controls were easy to operate and placement could be better but back. Overall A+++!

A Surprising Great Value
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I want to say that these headphones are incredibly well rounded and have every essential feature that I would want a set of gaming headphones have for PC purposes. They may not be perfect for console gamers due to their lack of wireless capabilities, but for PC gamers they are perfect. The build quality is shockingly good. They are actually metal and they feel fantastic. I would even wager to say that they are fantastic media headphones too as their audio accuracy and volume are really good. I do recommend pairing it with a keyboard that has inline audio controls though as they headphones do not have them so you cannot adjust audio from the headphones themselves. Razer's software was really good too and it allows you to get a personal feel and adjustment on the 3D sound so you can tell if it is accurately doing the surround sound for your purposes. USB is how it is hooked up and basic drivers will utilize the headphones, but you will want to download Synapse for the 3D sound and configuration. Overall the headphones are a fantastic value at sub 100 dollars.

Good sound, Comfortable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use these headphones while racing online and listening to music. The headphones are very comfortable and I've worn them for periods up to six hours without discomfort. The cord is more than long enough for my needs, measuring about seven feet. Voices are clear when used with a VoIP call, although others on the line said I sounded a bit distant.

Mind Blowing for the cost.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are simply amazing, had to get the out right away. Have I had better headphones for gaming, yes, but I paid 4 times the amount. For the price, the Kraken 7.1 V2's kill it, they even make their own V1's look like bargain bin headphones. Setup is fast and easy. The settings are very easy as well, take your time on the calibration, it makes all the difference. Your hearing is not the same as everyone else's, so adjust away for the centering of the sound. Sound response is awesome, lows are deep, mids are clear and highs are crisp. I played multiple FPS games and sound was on point. I also used them to listen to live concerts, again, amazing. The microphone is clear and no one had a hard time hearing me talk online. I am actually having a hard time with this review, to many good things to say. I can say try them for yourself, you will want them and they will be all you use when on your PC.

Pretty Nice headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are really well built and solid. Very cool feature with telescopic mic . But I was not impressed by the bass that they produced. I used playing music as well as gaming and it stayed about the same level of sound quality. All in all not bad for a set of comfortable headsets.

Pro-level gaming gear
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Razer - a trusted name for innovative, well-designed, and fun gaming gear. No, I'm not a fangirl, but I do respect the brand and have several of their products. Razer's motto - "For Gamers. By Gamers." - tells you something. Overall, I was quite impressed with this Kraken 7.1 v2 Digital USB Gaming Headset. I've tried other makes and models with various features, and while they each had their pros and cons, none lived up to my expectations. Comfort - the leatherette ear cushions were so soft, cradling my ears without causing them to get too hot over time; the adjustable headband did a great job of keeping the headset securely in place, without "clamping down" tight upon my head. These headphones are comfortably lightweight, enabling you to wear them for long sessions of gaming goodness. Notable Features - the 6.6 ft cable length is more than adequate for PC gaming, and on average what you might expect of a wired headset for console use. The cable is sheathed in a 'thread-like' material, which gives it a feeling of high quality, and should also reduce kinking of the cable itself. One small detail, that I took note of and others might as well - instead of the standard velcro cord tie, they used a rubberized adjustable tie, which in my opinion, is much better, as often velcro can snag on things, and generally, just gets gross after a while. The retractable microphone feels durable, as though it won't become less flexible or sag after extensive use, like mics on some other headsets I've tried have done. The mute feature is easy to use, right there on the 'mouthpiece', with a glowing red light around the end to tell you it's activated. Ease of Use - the Razer Kraken 7.1 v2 is compatible with PC / Mac / PS4. When used with the PS4 console, it's pretty much plug and play, except for checking the Audio settings to make sure the input/output is set correctly for this device, and that the sound level is to your liking. Sound quality was terrific, clear and crisp; bringing a certain 'depth of sound' to the gaming experience, ambient sounds seemed richer. The microphone performed fine for in-game chat, without having to turn the volume way up to be heard. When using with a PC, you'll want to install Razer Synapse, both to register the device, but also in order to access the customizable features this headset has to offer. Just follow the simple directions in the handy instruction booklet, and you'll be good to go. During setup, the calibration wizard for the 7.1 Surround Sound System, was such fun! Take the time to go through the short process, and really have a listen. Another fun feature is that the Razer logo on the ear cups light up with customizable multi-colored LEDs. While not affecting the headset's performance, this is just one of those cool extras that I like to see included in a product's design. Along with Synapse's headphone settings, there is also the option to turn on Chroma Apps to allow 3rd party integration, so as to enhance your gaming experience. As others have mentioned, what one might call a "downside" is that this headset is USB only. It would be nice if there was an either/or option, instead of having to choose which model headset to get based on the plug-in feature. Speaking of USB ... Often headsets not boasting the standard 3.5mm jack are considered less desirable, or believed to be sub-par. In my opinion, the Razer Kraken 7.1 v2, proves them wrong. I noticed none of the usual complaints. Performance was excellent. Bottom line - *Thumbs up* - I most definitely can recommend this Razer product to any gamer who has been searching for an all-around great gaming headset.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 is good gaming headset. The build quality is solid and sound is pretty good. Setup was extremely easy. Plug it in, go to setting to adjust output for mic and headset and you're good to go. The LED lights on each earpiece is a nice touch. Amazing surround sound headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are probably the best gaming headset that I have ever owned. Easy to use, easy to set up, and great surround sound quality make these a deal worth picking up. Using Razer's surround program, you can personalize exactly where the sounds are coming from so that it is individually personalized to your hearing. This is a great feature on an amazing headset that puts it above what others offer.

Great set of gaming headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Doing a lot of gaming on PC, these are great for when you don't want the volume to bother those around you. The 7.1 surround sound works very well and can create a very immersive gaming experience. I don't use the mic very often, but the few times I have, it seemed to function very well. I highly recommend installing the Razer software as it allows you to customize your experience greatly.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son has been begging for a headphone/mic set. These headphones are pretty ok. They can only be used on PC, Mac, and Playstation. I have never seen a set of headphones that required software and drivers and whatnot. Having to sign up for an account to use headphones is a little off putting to me. Qualitywise, we liked the look and feel of the headphones. They are very comfortable on the head. The sound is pretty good. Nothing earthshattering. The main complaint I have is with the microphone. I was told that I was crackling and my voice sounded a little distorted. They need to do a better job here. All in all, these are a decent set of gaming headphones for the money. My 9 year old really likes them and he is the one who wears them most of the time.
