Nice Headphones for the money
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What I like: - Roomy ear cups - Clear voice - Compatible with my laptop, gaming pc, and Xbox controller, and ancient apple products - Long y-cable for my gaming computer’s sound card. Thank you! - In-line volume and mute control - Sturdy, aluminum construction - Retractable Mic What bothers me: - No inline voice feedback - Fabric ear cup options not included - The cups put direct pressure on my jaw. Those with TMJ may find these uncomfortable for extended sessions - Music and game sound feels muffled and range limited First off I have to confess that I don’t use headsets much for gaming. I use them mostly for work. I’ve used many “office” grade headsets over the years including popular brands from Plantronics and Logitech. The problem I have with both is that my communication needs have shifted from a traditional phone with headset to Voice over IP. This includes Cisco Softphone, Skype and FaceTime, TeamSpeak, and Xbox Live. I have owned several gaming headsets over the years and finally decided to give a gaming headset a chance. I picked up the Razor Kraken Pro v2 from Best Buy a few weeks ago to see if they would suit me needs. To be clear, my primary need is voice communications for my work but I do listen to music, watch videos, and play games. The headphones have a single, combination stereo plug with mic. This is perfect for my laptop and my tablets. It also comes with a y-splitter cable that is long enough to comfortably reach my sitting position to the back of my Sound Blaster Z sound card in my floor standing computer tower. Since my computer is the best audio source in my office, I decided to fire up some music and a few games. Razor claims that these are a full range headset so music should sound great on these, right? Well, kind of right. I played a variety of music from Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto to Meghan Trainor to something called Electro Swing which is a mash up of heavy base riffs, swing, and jazz. The highs felt constrained and the base felt over stated. The music also felt muted in such a way that I felt like there was something between my ear and the music. Then again, these are not $300 Bower and Wilkin headphones. These are gaming headphones so on with the gaming. Next, I fired up my Xbox One and put in Titan Fall 2! This game has voice, heavy base, and lots of nuanced sounds that you would other miss unless you had a good gaming headset or a great home theater. As expected, the little sounds such as the clicking of equipment coming on line, the scuffing of boots on the ground, and the sounds of changing ammo clips all came to life. The in game voice was strong and clear. And the pounding of Titans landing on the ground were powerful. The experience gaming was better. However, it still sounded like something was between me and the speakers. Finally, the one thing I used the headset for on a daily basis: voice. Vocals are clear and strong in all applications. The inline mute button is a necessity as is the inline volume control. The mute button is especially useful if I need to cough, sneeze, or in-politely disagree with someone I should not in-politely disagree with. Those of you with office jobs know exactly what I’m talking about. The headset does put pressure on my head which makes the headset difficult to wear for hours at a time. I feel if Razor had used memory foam in their ear cups, this would not be as much of an issue. The one item that I find bothersome is the lack of voice feedback in the ear cups. Headsets, especially gaming headsets, used to include this feature. The feature simply plays back your own voice in the ear cups so that you can gauge how loudly you are speaking. This feature is not terribly important with fabric covered ear cups because the sound of your voice can make its way into the ear cup. But, these foo-leather ear cups seal you ears and muffle most outside sounds. This gives my voice an underwater, muted effect which makes it very difficult to tell if I’m speaking or shouting. When I’m gaming, it is usually at night when everyone around me has gone to bed. I cannot be shouting with my buddies for fear of having my head lobbed off by family members. There are several other pros and cons that I’ve listed above. They are a good headset for the price. If you are in the market for a new headset, my recommendation is that you head down to your local best buy and visit the gaming headphone wall. Good headphones is a much subjective as it is feature driven. Based on other headphones I’ve owned in the past I would rate these average. The higher end headsets do sound better but they also come with greater weight and higher price tags. If you are looking for something inexpensive that will give you a good experience, then these may be a good fit.

Great Headset!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used many gaming headset over time and can never quite find one that works well for everything I need. I mainly play games on consoles but do occasionally use my PC. I also occasionally use headphone while watching movies and listening to music. I had used a pair of the Kraken Pro before this newest revision, and did not like them, the headset wasnt very comfortable and the sound was too muddy and bass heavy. So I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and saw the new design. Immediately I could feel the difference in comfort level. I was still a bit worried that the sound would be the same and too bassy with the mids and high being very muddy. So I was pleasantly surprised when I started listening to some music and it sounded much clearer than the previous ones. I will say they still are a bit bass heavy and the mids and highs are not as clear as I would like them to be, but they are a huge improvement over what I had heard on the previous version of these headphones. If your looking for a good pair of headphones that wont break the bank in terms of cost I would check these out.

Wow Factor!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can be said about a pair of 'phones that hasn't been already? Quite a bit, actually - but for the sake of saving everyone from one of my rambles, I will condense it a bit! The "Wow Factor" begins the moment you set your eyes on this pair of headphones. They are stunning in their design, with minimal gaps (which is good if getting hair trapped is one of your pet-peeves - it's one of mine!). Comfort is another major important factor for me. Most "Over the ear" headphones begin to hurt me after prolonged use. Best ways I can describe the comfort level of this product is to call them "ear pillows" - seriously! Sound quality for everything from simple online chatting, gaming, and even HD music - another wow factor! Highs are crisp, Mids are strong, and bass thumps. Just as it should. Another welcome feature is the relatively generous length of the cord. Which makes all applications of these headphones a lot less restrictive. If you are in the market for a set of new headphones, definitely go for these. You won't be sorry!

4.5 stars for this headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headset is really good for gaming & non-gaming usage. The padding is such that it doesn't push much against the ears, which makes it comfortably fit AROUND the ears. Microphone being retractable into the ear piece is AWESOME so you don't have to worry about damaging it or it catching on anything when not in use. Cord is good length. There is also an extension/splitter included so you can go from headphone only to headphone/microphone use. Only drawbacks are (1) the cord can become twisted/kinked and needs unwinding/untangling, (2) audio plugs can be hard to remove from jacks due to their small size / lack of grip, and (3) it's easy to bump the audio control that's on the cord to accidentally make the volume too loud or low. If you don't *have* to be wireless, this is the best bang for the buck versus their Bluetooth version, which is $20 MSRP more expensive. Overall, however, this headset is superior to Turtle Beach's Ear Force X12 IMHO.

Nice gaming headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this item at no charge as part of the Best Buy Tech insider program in exchange for my honest review. The Kraken pro 2 wired headphones are very good at what they are designed for - gamiing. I have tried these for movies and have been very satisfied as well, but I do not think they are a suitable substitute for music headphones - that would make sense since they aren't advertised for this use. I do not have any complaints on these headphones using them as they were intended. They have 3.5 mm plug and also come with an adapter for computers that have separate input and output jacks. These headphones are comfortable and neat looking and I think they are good for the price.

Great headphones if you have circular ears.

Great Multi-Platform Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband and I have both been using this headset for gaming on our Playstation 4's and PC's and agree on a few things: Pros: - The adjustable fit is great. Hubby has a big head and Wifey has a small one. The headset adjusts easily to fit us both well. - Sound quality is really good. Sound on PC is better than when plugged into the PS4 controller and we found that when plugging it into the PS4 controller, sound quality appreciably improves when the controller is plugged into the Playstation... the headset does drain the controller a bit faster, as is to be expected, and it seems to compensate by reducing sound quality when the controller is not getting a steady stream of power. We played using both action games (Wildlands, ME: Andromeda, etc.) and music games (Hatsune Miku Project Diva series) and were impressed with the sound quality. It's not as good as when I plug my Bose headset right into the TV, but I didn't expect it to be. - The retractable mic is a great touch. Being able to pull it out when you need it and put it away when you don't makes these useful as a headset for coop play, but also as a regular pair of headphones when you're just rocking single player. The boom is totally unobtrusive. The sound quality from the mic is also clear and excellent. The mute switch works well too. - I love the in-line volume control, especially for use with the PS4 controller. It allows you to just set the system volume once and then adjust volume on the fly very easily. - Multi-platform. No need to buy a separate headset for your PC and console--this guy will work on your PC, PS4 and Xbox One. My family successfully tested on PC and Playstation 4 and can confirm they work well. We don't have an Xbox, but the enclosed literature says it will work... we can confirm that both PC and at least one current-gen console are totally compatible. The box contains a cord extending connector for PC's that have separate mic and headphone jacks. Cons: - This headset is HEAVY. This is the main reason for my deduction of one star. I wear eyeglasses and the weight of the headset and the firmness of the foam on the earpieces can made the headset uncomfortable to wear for long gaming sessions. This did not bother my husband as much--he doesn't wear glasses... but after an hour or so, these really start to hurt around the ears where my glasses sit. Meh: - Without the extender for PC's that need separate mic and headphone jacks, the cable is a bit short. No problem if you're plugging into a console controller, but if you're plugging into the back of a PC tower, you might need an extension cable. - The price is a bit high, but given that the headset will work with your PC and your consoles, eliminating the need to buy a separate headset for each platform, I have to conclude that this is a worthwhile purchase if you're a multi-platform gamer!

Decent for what they are
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a mid-level gaming headset, the Razer Kraken v2 Pros do a fairly decent job, but don't let the name fool you--these are not "pro" quality. The audio quality is fair, but leans more to the bass-heavy side; separation is ok but not great; the 50mm drivers are a definite upgrade from the prior version's 40mm; volume is adequate; vocals and highs can get muddy. The microphone quality seems spot on and is adequately sensitive for most casual gamers. The fit can be tight and your ears will get warm in a relatively short length of time. The included cabling feels just sturdy enough to justify a premium price but just flimsy enough to make me believe it will not stand the test of time. While Razer has made improvements with the v2, unfortunately I still think these headphones are just slightly above average. On the other hand, my 12 year old nephew thinks these are the best thing since sliced bread, so perhaps I'm totally wrong in my assessment. Or I'm out of the target demographic. Either way, at this price point, I was expecting a bit more. I would tentatively recommend them for a first set of gaming headphones, but would be cautious if upgrading.

Horrible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second product I have purchased from Kraken. These headphones are bar none the worst I have owned. The connector plug to the extension plug broke within the first hour. That may have been my fault as I snagged on it and pulled it too hard. But I was surprised how cheap it was that it would not hold up to such an event. My main complaint is with the sound. These things literally sound like you are listening to them under water. These things wouldn't even be worth twenty dollars let alone the eighty. Plus I got the warranty for them but since the damage was caused through my own doing I won't bring them back for a refund. I will never buy a Kraken product again. You can get better and for cheaper in cost.Guaranteed.
