Comfortable, long battery life, good Mic quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this for roughly a week now. I more gravitate towards the over ear headphones/headsets as On-Ear's get uncomfortable to me after a while. Comfort wise they fit nice. The width could be a little better, im leery with bending the headband too much. They do sit a bit tigher than my older pair of Blackshark V2's but are still comfortable enough. Over this week of using them they never did feel uncomfortable. I appreciate the more eco-friendly packing for these so there's really little to no waste. The wirelss is a nice aspect. It's good that you can use them while charging as well. On the audio side of things they're not bad. I've primarily been using at work for communication. My only real issue is they're quiet. This doesn't seem effected by the use of Synapse either. The audio adjustment is strictly through Windows so you cannot adjust the headsets volume separate of the operating system or device it's connected to. It seems as though they would benefit from a dedicate amp. I don't have much issue hearing others, but it would have been nice for the audio on the headset to be controlled separate from the device they're connected to. I'll be playing around with Synapse more to see if I can maybe fine tune this to overcome this detriment. Something else that would have been nice is to control the Chroma from a mobile app instead of having to rely on Synapse. The extra life you get battery wise from it not being enabled is quite a bit. I took them out of the box and started using them immediately so I didn't charge them initially. I want to say that I got through 3 or 4 full 8 day shifts before I had to charge them with the Chroma enabled. I imagine with it disabled I can probably get through a whole week and still have some life left. I like being able to retract the mic when for when I don't need it. The inclusion of the Wireless dongle being a USB-C is very welcome, especially since my laptop only had Type-C ports free on it. Outside of the volume, that's really my only negative here.

Very Comfortable, Excellent Sound, Great Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Kraken V4 is an excellent gaming headset with great sound, very customizable lighting, and a retractable mic. Design The thing that caught my attention and then blew me away was the retractable mic boom. Not only does the mic completely retract back into the ear piece, but it feels firm/rigid enough when it's out and in use. I had no issues with it holding it's position or being hard to work with. It didn't try to stay in the recessed (smaller) form when I extended it. It stays in the position I put it in. Besides the mic, I found the headset to be light weight and very comfortable to wear. Padding on it for the top of the head and ears is excellent. The it's a fabric/leatherette combination so it does block out some ambient sound but breathes some too so my ears sweat less than some others I have tried. There are nine lights on the outside of each earpiece in a circle. The proprietary 2.4 GHz low latency transceiver uses a USB-C connection. I really love the comfort, lack of sweat, and the retractable mic! Two braided cables are included, one is a USB-A cable with a USB-C port on it to connect the transceiver to. The second is a USB-A to USB-C cable to plug directly into the headset - and I think both are great options to have. Controls When you turn it on or change most settings there is a very crisp, clear voice that announces the changes and settings. I don't know that I've had any that were bad but this voice is noteworthy. It just sounds very clear and the volume level is perfect. I think these tend to be too quiet and less life-like sounding. The power button has a texture to it that makes it easy to identify by touch. There's a button you can double-tap to switch modes, to Bluetooth for example. There's another button that that's used to change the equalizer setting between "Game", "Movie", "Music", or "Custom". There's is a volume dial with a great feel to it that let's you adjust the Windows master output volume. There's also a dedicated button to mute the mic. That button, like most of them, will announce what it's doing. There is also a button to change the control of the balance of the audio between game sounds and chat. Sound Quality The sound quality was excellent! In game I had no issues. Specifically testing the sound quality I tried a number of different types of music and even a pod cast with just a person talking. One that that surprised me was how much of a difference I noticed with the THX Spatial Audio enabled. I think it was by default. But when I set it to Stereo instead, in the "Synapse" Windows application (free/included feature adding download) it even made the pod cast noticeably better. Instead of hearing someone talking, it sounded like the person was in the room with me. It just sounded fuller and more natural. Something else I noticed in testing sound quality was the mic quality. They advertise the "HyperClear Super Wideband Cardioid Mic" but I didn't think I would notice it. It turns out I really did. Using the Mic settings in the Synapse Windows app, I did some testing and what I noticed was it noticeably softened or eliminated the extra hiss associated with the "th" sounds and the "s" sounds. I was able to adjust settings so it didn't do that either but I felt that with that removed the speech was more clear and crisp. There are a few different "Enhancement" settings for the mic including "Volume Normalization", "Vocal Clarity", and "Mic Noise Cancelation". The bass was excellent too! I gave it the deepest bass I had that also had lyrics over it and the lyrics were preserved while the deep base came through strong. Added Software Razer includes three applications with the Kraken V4, Synapse, Cortex, and Axon. Synapse - Hardware adjustments like audio levels and enhancements as well as lighting. There are a lot of setting here! Make sure you have THX Spatial Audio turned on. There is even a setting so that if your headset is paired with your phone over Bluetooth while you're using the headset with your PC it can block incoming calls so you are not disturbed from your gaming session. Synapse also has "Studio" which is like a paint program to edit the lighting. You can just use "Quick Effects" if you want but the Studio gives you lots of controls for advanced lighting effects. Cortex - This is a game launcher but it actually does more. It will let you "boost" your system by closing unneeded programs or processes and disabling things like power management settings when you launch games. It does this automatically, if you have it enabled, and shows a notification with info about how much RAM it freed up. On my PC, with Windows 11, it freed up 3 GB to 4 GB of RAM when launching games. I ended up liking this feature more than I thought I would. It also has a resource meter that you can put in different areas around the top or bottom of the screen. It uses very little screen real estate and shows things like RAM used and current FPS. I like this because it takes so little space. Axon - This is almost like a repository and tool for finding or publishing wallpapers. You can select a different one for each monitor. Some of them are animated and some have sound. There were at least a few I really like and have been using. Battery life The battery life is very good so far! They claim up to 70 hours of battery life with the lighting turned off and using the 2.4 GHz connection. I totally believe it. I charged it to full when I got it, have used it a lot since, and it's only at 81%. I've even had the lighting on most of the time. Of course volume level makes a difference, still I'm impressed with the excellent battery performance, especially considering the light weight or comfort of the headset. Summary This is an excellent gaming headset package! It's an extremely light-weight and comfortable gaming headset with a retractable mic that works very well. The lighting is not something they threw just to say it has the lights, it has excellent configuration options for the lighting. Of course, you get a headset like this for hearing and being heard. I'm impressed with how well it does both. I don't know where the hardware ends and the software begins for some of it but the end result is what I think is an excellent experience whether gaming, listening to music, or even recording voice.

Razer has let themselves go.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used these to replace a Mari Ultimate that finally kicked it. On its own, it's a decent headset. But for the same price (~$200) It was a marked step down in audio quality. It should also be noted that I got infrequent audio cut-outs for some reason, both on 2.4 and Bluetooth connections. Wired didn't seem to have the output show up At All. Overall very disappointed with Razer, ended up with a steel series.

Very good mid price headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this third set of razer headphones for my other son to utilize. Much like my other 2 sets of razer headphones, these have a soft breathable cloth muff on the cuff and firm grip on the head. The controls are easy to reach and the volume level is very respectable this had a retracting microphone which is neat, because they can lay flat on the desk, with mic in and swivel muffs that lay flat. The microphone recording quality is very good, but i myself can't tell a difference between ot and other razer headphones. This can connect by USB wire, usbc dongle or adapter cord provided by standard USB, or by bluetooth. The sound is the certified and overall the levels are very balanced and crisp. When in a game that has surround components, this really does lend itself well to directional hearing. These do nit have haptics like the pro versions. This does have 9 zone lights that you can customize as you wish, but I still am a fan of the breathing pulse or wheel that have been a staple of the razer products. Razer synapse installs quickly enough and after a short bit of exploring is pretty intuitive. The book that comes with it is minimalist, but ok. Overall, another very excellent set of headphones. I have no deductions for these. If you want haptic feedback, the pro version has that. I didn't feel the value added for my son or I was worth it for additional cost. Compared to the Baracudda x Chroma, the mic is about the same to me but retracts, the thx is easier to use fo sound than the 7.1, and 9 color zones on this vs 6 zone color there are where the upgrades come. Compared to brracuda, a slight upgrade for the cost. I do give these 5 stars. Good headset, but really, I habe yet to really find a bad set of razer headphones. Even back to the first pairs of wired razer Kraken ultralight I bought for my boys to use on their handheld games, all have been good.

Excellent Razer wireless gaming headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Razer Kraken V4 Wireless Gaming Headset is another excellent product that follows the Razer model of high-quality gear mixed with RGB options. The Razer Kraken V4 will work with many platforms, including PC, Mac, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and smartphones. One change from previous versions is that the V4 will now connect wirelessly over 2.4Ghz with the included dongle, or it will connect via Bluetooth or USB wired. It took only a few minutes to get it out of the box and connected to my PC. I also tested it with Nintendo Switch and with a Steam Deck; it connected and worked flawlessly with all of these platforms. The microphone is completely retractable and flexible which allowed me to place it exactly where I wanted it but also allowed me to get it out of the way when I wasn't planning on talking. I asked the people I play games with to provide feedback on how my voice sounded over the mic and I received only positive feedback. The earcups contain Triforce Titanium 40mm drivers and are circular in shape. I prefer oval shaped earcups, but I thought these were fine. I wear glasses so I'm always conscious of the clamp power of a headset, but I have to say that the clamp pressure for the Razer Kraken V4 was perfect. I didn't notice I was wearing it, even after a long gaming session, which is quite an accomplishment. The outside of the earcups has 9-zone RGB lightning which can be customized via the downloadable Razer Synapse app. The RGB is not garishly bright which I appreciated but actually enhances the look of the headset. I think that will lead to users wearing the Razer Kraken V4 outside of gaming-only situations. I would highly advise a user to download the Razer Synapse app early in the process of setting up the headset. Not only can the RGB be customized using the app, but it also where EQ settings and presets can be selected to tailor the experience to specific games. One nice feature is that some of the sound tailoring can be done by using buttons on the earcups. For example, there is a game volume/chat volume control that can allow the user to focus in on game noises or on chat volume depending on need. Most importantly, the Razer Kraken V4 sounds really good on every platform. Whether I used it on PC, Switch, or Steam Deck, the headset was producing a clear signal that allowed for a meaty bass mixed with a clear treble. THX Spatial Audio is included with the headset and is included with the Razer Synapse app. Phone calls taken via Bluetooth sounded crystal clear. The people I spoke with on calls said that I sounded great. The battery life is advertised at 70 hours on a single charge, but I didn't run out of battery even after a couple weeks of using the headset. I feel like the Razer Kraken V4 is the perfect gaming headset. It has flexibility in how it connects, has a good mic, produces clear audio, and has the capability of so much customization with both the EQ and with the Razer Chroma RGB settings. I would recommend the Razer Kraken V4 Wireless Gaming Headset for any user looking for their next favorite gaming headset.

Razer - Kraken V4 Wireless Gaming Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset has proved me wrong about Razer products and so far the sound quality has be clear as cant be I am able to clearly hear people while gaming and using Discord and they can actually hear me which is a surprise to me as someone who uses a Blue Yeti mic which I was told by the same people in game on discord that they couldn't hear me or understand me at all in all actual fact the game even sounds clearer to me than it does on my other headset it's crisp and clear music wise and voice wise from the game. It comes with two different cables one for charging and the other to extend the cable. They can be either hardwired to your PC, Mac, Play station, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and Blue tooth to your phones. You can also connect the headset via a dongle . You will need to charge them for 3 hours when you first set them up but once they are fully charged they last a while I've had mine for almost three days now and have used them close to 26 hours without putting them back on charge. Anyone who buys these will have the time of they're life with them. The pros to these are sound great and the 9 zone RGB also the clear voice. the Cons of them are being heavy but not so heavy that they hurt and having to wait almost a day for your setup to recognize that you have new hardware but that was for me and might not be the same for y'all the other con for me on these was the software being that there are two versions on the software you need to make sure that you get the right one due to that . If you download version 3 like I did which is what the website asked you to do and then version 4 there will be a conflict and you have to start over as you will lose the mic and sound due to the drivers causing the problem. This headset is a 100% get if you can handle the weight of the. One thing I forgot to mention in the pros they are Noise Canceling I had them on while the TV was on and turned up and could barely hear it. I would 100% recommend to family and friends to get them

A lot of headset for the price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Razer Kraken V4 is a really good mid-priced gaming headset. I am surprised at how much these costs considering the quality and features you're getting. Unboxing these headsets you will find a usb-c dongle to wirelessly connect the headset by 2.4 ghz. This will give the headset the ability to be used across multiple platforms i.e. ps5, computers a handheld gaming devices etc. A usb-a to usb-c adapter cable for those devices that doesn't have a usb-c connector. A charging cable that can also be used if you need to use the headset in wired mode. The headset itself is very lightweight. I think most of it is made of plastic but it definitely doesn't feel flimsy or cheap. There is also so many adjustments that I think anyone will be able to find a perfect fit. For me, I didn't find the pressure too tight which is always a worry when buying new headsets. The cushion on the headband and earcups are the same. Memory foam wrapped in fabric, very comfortable and didn't even make my ears sweat. Most the controls are on the left side earcup with chat mix and bluetooth on the right side. The mic is retractable and very flexible which will give you the position which is best for you. The retractable mic was cool at first but then I kept finding myself pushing it up to fold away, lol. I think I prefer the fold away. There is a little light on the mic to show when you are mute which I thought was super cool and convenient. The mic was good, not great. Sounds out of the speakers are surprisingly good. The 360 sound was crisp and clear. Both mic and speakers can be adjusted in the app. You definitely will have to play with it to get the most out of the headsets. Lights on the earcups are cool and also be adjusted. There are so many positives and really no negatives that I have to call these Razer headsets a definite winner.

Good Gaming...Almost Perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't get me wrong, the headset has a lot going for it. This is Razer after all. Even the stickers are cool looking! The unboxing is like unboxing a premium stereo audiophile headphones without the coiled wires. You get the dongle and two cords. One is the USB C and other is an extender to go into a USB slot and you can plug into the USB C. However, this is the bad thing for my usage, but I'll get back to that later. When I initially got it, I charged it up fully before doing the software installation. The installation to me is a bit confusing because I am not familiar with the gambit of Razor's software suites so I was not absolutely sure if we needed all those other software options that were offered. When I installed just the minimum amount to my tower, Upon the intiial install, a firmware update was installed pretty quick. The headphones look and feel comfy as you can imagine. The look and material is high tier looking and the RGB lighting is a very cool affect and yet not distracting at all when gaming because other headsets that I have used if the light was too bright, would reflect on the nearest monitor. Almost like a space helmet with a highlighed border, but not this one, this one just looks cool without any edits to the setting. The default wave is very very cool. The mic boom is simple to operate and the headband has plenty of padding for long sessions. The buttons are well placed, the wheels have good grips to adjust volume settings and such. There is a preset EQ button as well and but this is where my experience was good. I really wanted it to be my main headset. But I don't think it will. Why? Upon using on Steam games, where I can hear the music, the mic cuts off. I have tried all the settings and nothing but plugging the cans into the computer would make the mic live again. Why?? I cannot for the life of me figure it out. After hours of uninstalling and reinstalling. Nothing worked. I have another set of headphones, albeit, years older, have no issues. Another negative in my usage was that the sound while clear and other players have said it was clear as well, however. I had to edit the EQ to get the similar sound that I can get from my older headset that was just plug and play. This headset has the look of the ultimate headset. However, I cannot recommend it to an avid gamer with these issues.

Comfortable, versatile, great sound, average mic.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Razer’s headsets’ design language, and this is no exception. Actually, Razer has managed to make it smaller and lighter this time. This may be due to the all-plastic build. Nevertheless, the build quality is excellent. The headband is quite flexible, and the slider is stable. The earcups are super comfortable, breathable, and have great swivel. I did not experience any discomfort or excessive heat while wearing it for long gaming sessions. Wearing glasses is no problem. All controls are physical and tactile, and easy to get used to. The volume rocker feels good, but I would’ve liked a start-stop instead or continuous rolling. The RGB is cool and has many effects, and it can be turned off if that’s too much or there is the need to save battery, which is great already. The dongle is plug-and-play and pairing via Bluetooth is as easy as any other Bluetooth headphone. You can also use them wired via the included cable. One complaint I have is that audio is not available at the same time in dual pair mode, nor is it automatic. I must switch between sources by pressing the switch button. This happens every time I need to pick up a call, which is very cumbersome. The retractable microphone is just average. I was hoping for a much better performance. The audio sounds like I’m on airplane comms. It’s tinny no matter what mode I put them on. Using the Synapse app does not help much. The Mic monitoring is decent, but I did notice a slight hum when raising the balance. The mic noise cancellation is also average. Out of the box, the 40mm Tri-Force drivers deliver a flatter audio signature that sounds more precise and analytical. Bass heads may originally be disappointed as the bass has impact, but it’s lacking that subwoofer feel. The midrange shows up nicely, though. And the treble soars, adding clarity. Going into Synapse, I messed around quite a bit with the sound presets and while I liked the “music” one best, I ended up fully customizing the EQ. Once I did that, the sound opened up and became more exciting and punchier, with plenty of lows -great for action games and movies. The custom sounds can be saved for different profiles. While there is great soundstage and imaging, I tried the THX 3-D sound and confirmed that it’s just not my jam. It may be a bit cool in movies, but it makes sound cues off which may affect gameplay -especially FPS. In the end, I really like the Kraken V4’s more compact design, comfort, battery life, connectivity options, and sound customization. However, being a gaming headset, the mic leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. I hope future updates may address the simultaneous connection as well. I will still recommend checking it out to see if the value is there for you.

Comfortable Performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Razer Kraken V4 is an amazing headset, and it blew away my expectations at the price point. I can wear this headset for hours with no worries of the battery dying, or experiencing ear fatigue. This can be a real problem with gaming headsets, if they are not very ergonomic they become uncomfortable fairly quick. The sound quality is perfect as well. From gaming to movies and music I have thoroughly enjoyed this headset. The bass during movies is clear and rich, and with music it doesn't overpower the listening experience. The microphone comes through very clearly during gaming, and I even used it for some work meetings with no problems. Directional sound is important to me when gaming, and the Kraken V4 delivers! In FPS it really helps with situational awareness and this headset does it very well. The build quality is amazing as well, I am confident this headset will last many years and the RGB lighting is just icing on the cake! Overall I am very happy with this headset and I believe it is one of the best you can buy, especially in it's price range.
