Don't have a cell phone anywhere near you when you're trying to use this mic. It is not shielded and you'll have an enormous amount of interference which will obviously ruin the audio of all of your footage. I even turned my cell phone off...but it's no match for the wifi and electronic noise of Times Square. Also...the signal to noise ratio is insanely horrible. There is no silence with this mic. Good luck getting this to sound good without processing it with a noise gate in post. Best Buy was cool enough to accept it back with an upgrade to the Pro which I haven't had the chance to review yet.

So I went with this model because of its cost... man I guess the saying is true... “you get what you pay for” and that is exactly the quality we got. Mic didn’t work. I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t be too complicated to figure out but no one could get it to work.... not even the employees. So of course I had to return it and purchase the higher model. I tested it before we left and it worked... should have payed more in the first place. I would have saved time having to drive all the way back to the store and then waiting to return the product. What a waste...

This Microphone has been ruining my YouTube videos. There’s a constant clicking and popping sound. According to other content creators the only way to get rid of this is to cover the microphone wires in aluminum foil! That is completely ridiculous. This should’ve been taken into consideration when they created the product.

While having great hopes for this, it is not a directional microphone and it muffled the sound, my cameras built in mic did a better job under the same circumstances.

So I had decided to just bite the bullet and buy a good quality mic and spend some money. So I used to for a couple of times and the second time after done recording for about an hour I go check my media and there was this hissing sound and static through the whole video. kept trying to fix it a few more times without success. so I went on amazon and bought a $20 mic that work excellent.

This mic has the worst interference problem I’ve ever encountered. Terrible cracking and popping and just all around bad audio. Save yourself the trouble and some money and get the Rose video micro, that mic is very good for the price point or if you’re looking for a step up from that go with the video mic pro. Just whatever you do DO NOT BUY THIS MIC

Did not plug into my camera. What a shame. Returned it to the nearest store.

Overpriced for low quality. Should not be called a shotgun mic, does not perform in such a way.

If you want a microphone that has a lot of white noise then this is the perfect microphone for you. I’ve had the perfect opportunity to waste my time recording a video three times before realizing it was the microphone and not my camera. I will be returning this product ADAP

The sponge falls off a lot and would really appreciate a clip where it wouldn't fall off the camera.

Just bought today and recorded a video, audio quality is HORRIBLE!!!!! A lot of buzzing and clicking checked youtube and this is a known problem. They suggest you turn off all electronics known to man before using and that is too much for me just pay the extra 50 and get the upgraded version.

Not good for concerts poor sound quality good for everything else.

This didn't perform the way I hoped. I think since it was powered for the camera the sound was poor.

Bought this RODE thinking it would be a good mic but was wrong. If it is near electronics, like a computer it will make a clicking noise in the audio. Only way to fix it is to move far away from it. That is a HUGE deal breaker for me.

for $100 I don't feel this is worth it. My $200 GoPro session has a better mic than that.

Nothing but interference. Clicking sounds all through videos. I don’t know why Best Buy or even Rode sells this product. I ended having to buy the Rode mic (next level up) for $299. Worth every penny. Terrible for beginners or professional.

This mic is unshielded, meaning it pics up ambient radio waves as sound from EVERYWHERE including bluetooth and wifi signals from the camera itself or your cell phone in your pocket. RODEs standard VideoMic is much better at only $50 more
