Sound would cut out in my videos …

Worked ok. Easy to use but in the editing part I would notice that my audio would randomly cut out. I’m very particular of my audio (hence why I bought the mic) and that was a deal breaker. I just went back to using the mic on my iPhone. And no it wasn’t a faulty mic because I returned it for a new one and and kept happening. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for ease of use and decent quality sound but yeah it’s a pass with the audio cutting out.

Fantastic! Didn't pick up annoying clock!

Absolutely fantastic mic. Convenient plug and play -- no need to download any app. Researched about 10 other alternatives, most of them require GarageBand (I hate learning and downloading new apps!) or self apps. This one, you simply plug it in and you're good to go! The best part is it's a unidirectional mic. Which means it picks up the sound of the source you're really after. Not the background noise. I recorded my son playing the grand piano. I was sitting next to (on my left) an antique grandfather clock with a really loud tick-tock (sounded like an annoying metronome!). My son was on right, equally far from me as the clock. I pointed the mic at him hoping it would just pick up his playing, although the tick tock was, to my ears, was simply so loud and distracting. Lo and behold, the resulting video was just the piano playing. No trace of the tick-tock! I compared it to videos I took before w/ my iPhone without the mic. The clock's ticking was as loud distraction to the music (like an offbeat metronome as background beatbox).

Poor Build Quality at Lightning Connector area.

Mic sound was good. The deadcat is definitely needed for even a slight breeze, and it does a good job in wind when deadcat is on. It was convent to connect and disconnect to phone (if you don't have a case on your phone, otherwise you have to keep removing your case). Technically there seemed to be an issue after using. After using, I would get popping and snapping sounds when recording on my iPhone 12 Pro Max's internal mic (without the the VideoMic plugged in). The issue wouldn't resolve until I restarted my phone. Build quality was not good. The male lightening connection broke completely off in the first week rendering the mic useless.

As the box says, this mic does help cut out a lot of background noise. But, the volume recorded through it is very quiet. The build quality is good, it’s just like everything is muted.

Does the job, but requires a software update

By no means will this make your recordings sound studio, but as a directional microphone it’s good. I use it for live band recordings, and after updating the mic and using a different app other than the iOS camera app, it’s decent. The mic does a good job of reducing the ambient noise. For $90, you can get more control over your phone recordings and look cool doing it.

Great mic with and without the dead cat. Size is optimal for being discreet.

Falls apart and doesn’t block wind noise.

This mic was both expensive and disappointing. I bought it to reduce wind noise. Total failure. The baffle won’t stay on so wind noise gets in from behind. You can’t hold the phone in your hand without pushing the baffle off. I had to tie it on. Wind still got in. I even tapped the bottom of the mic to prevent wind getting through. Nope. Then it wobbles back and forth until the lightning connector snaps off. Lasted about 2 weeks. Now it’s broken. Total waste of money.
