This microphone is great for DSLR and smartphones. You'll need to purchase a TRS to TRRS cable if you're planning to use this mic on a cell phone. This will not replace proper lavs or shotgun mics on a boom, but it adds significantly better scratch audio to any footage, which makes syncing so much easier. This will also get you lots of ambient audio if that is what you look for.

So glad I bought it. One of the job I had was in the swimming pool area with a lot of kids and instructor yelling loud instruction to the kids in a noisy pool area. When I listen to the video, it was very good. Not the greatest sound but for the amount of noise, it sure did a great job capturing the persons who were doing the talking for the interviews.

Picked up this mic for my lumix G7 and it works like a charm. Quality is great compared to the internal mic that is preinstalled on the camera. if your looking to upgrade your sound for a good price than start here. Now that only bad thing about this is tat the mic tends to move around a lot because of the base thats holding it in place.I can see it being a problem if your using it to record on the go, but if your doing most of your filming on a tripod or stable platform then that is not an issue you need to be worried about.
