IF YOU WANT A PAGE BY PAGE ADAPTATION OF THE BOOK LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! This movie is better than what people say. If you expect a play by play of the book, of course you will not get it, not even with Lord of the Rings, and those are great adaptation movies, and lets not even mention Game of Thrones, completely different from the books. This movie is a joyful, popcorn action movie. Yes I was dissapointed that a lot of the 80's references were modified to introduce more up to date characters and other type of puzzles. the core concept remains the same in my opinion, the message in the end is the same in the book and the movie. IF you enjoy Steven Spielberg, you will like this movie. If you want the book, go read it again.

I love this movie. The world they built in the Oasis is great, the have are great and the pop-culture references come non-stop. From an audio visual perspective, this is my showcase movie for my 4k OLED/Dolby Atmos setup. The race scene sounds amazing. Also if note, this is the best motion capture in an animated movie I've ever scree seen, particularly the lip snyc and facial expressions.

When this movie was first announced we all knew what we were in for, a pop culture mash up of every notable film or video game in the last 30 years. In terms of that, I feel like the movie delivered on it’s promise. It was great to see how everything seemed so well thought out as far as how all the elements co-existed in this virtual universe, on that front I feel they succeeded. Where the film fell short was in the premise of the story, it just doesn’t seem to live up to the spectacle that this CGI world is throwing at us. You never really grow to care about the premise of the movie. The characters are likeable and the film is an all around good time, but be prepared to be underwhelmed by the story beats driving the film forward.

This is an excellent movie based on an excellent, albeit VERY different book. The movie is not a straight movie version of the book, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Many elements were changed and probably fit better a movie format than the book story would. I absolutely loved the book and I wasn't disappointed in the movie one bit. If you like action, video games, special effects, virtual reality or 80s nostalgia, there's something for you in this film.

First of all this movie has the best Dolby Atmos soundtrack of any movie I own! My two subwoofers really got a workout in many of the CGI scenes and the overall soundstage was great. The movie has a lot of 80s nostalgia stuff which I really enjoyed and it has a good storyline. Picture quality and colors of the Oasis was great.

I ready the book long before the movie was ever announced and absolutely loved it. It was right in my wheelhouse and the callbacks reminded me of things I grew up with. The movie varies from the book in many ways but I understand why they made the choices they did. Yes the book is way better but this film is well done. It turned out to be a lot of fun and holds a lot of nostalgia for me. I have the blu ray already but wanted the 4k version for the HDR and upgraded visuals. Thankfully the price was right so I picked it up again.

We bought this to upgrade our bedroom TV. It does well whether the room is bright or dark, and has more than enough sound capability. Lots of smart TV apps included, but we were disappointed that it doesn't have compatibility with HBO Go. As a workaround, we are using a cell phone to log into HBO Go, and then using Screen Share (Smart View, on a Samsung Galaxy) to get our HBO onto this TV. It's an extra step or two, but it works. We got this TV on a great deal!

I’ve never read the book it is based on and I understand there were definitely things edited and changed for this film. That said it is still a fun watch and thoroughly enjoyable. Lots of nostalgia for the grownups and as an 80s kid I dug it.

Ready Player One is a popcorn blockbuster adaptation that brings a decent nostalgic gamer adventure to life in a lot of great ways! The film services a lot of clichés and can veer from the book a bit too much (what adaptation doesn’t?) Buy at its core, this film is a wonderful send-up to the great 80’s, the innovation and artistic exploration that came from it, and the passion for teamwork and adventure. The 4K issue of the film is simply incredible - the picture crisp and visually stunning, the sound immersive and layered to perfection. The copy I have had occasionally gotten stuck in a certain place, but I chock that up to a sensitive player that needs spotless disks (I think there was a fingerprint on it).

Great effects, great premise, and very fun to watch. The plot also contained some interesting surprises but it was a but predictable. If you like action and are a fan of video games old and new as well as iconic movie characters, you'll enjoy this.,

This movie captures a lot of emotions as you make a bond with the characters and their adventure to obtain all three keys. This movie was visually stunning and I would recommend it on UHD or Blu-Ray because it’s just pops. It was also a good adaptation of the book. This movie was so good that it’s really difficult for me to write a review that fully encompasses it.
