    A Fun Nostalgic Popcorn Flick

“Ready Player One” Review: An exciting feel good movie that pays homage to pop culture icon references we grew up with during 80s-00s. Visually stunning, lots of intense VR action, and a well paced movie though it does lack character development. Spielberg delivers another heartwarming yet a fun exciting popcorn flick that is truly enjoyable. If you are looking for a fun feel good nostalgic adventure popcorn flick, I highly recommend Ready Player One.

I did not see this movie in the theater. So my expectations were pretty high listening to all the hype from all the movie goers. There are so many complex situation in the movie that I thought they could’ve been taken out and would not have changed the movies outcome or perception. I’ll have to see this movie over and over just see all the hidden detail in the movie, being in 4K, the detail could take 10 viewings before you see it all through so much.

As someone who's big into video games and having played and enjoyed so many, Ready Player One is right up my alley for a movie concept, taking place in a dystopian future where people live out their fantasies in a Virtual World. While the story and plot-line are nothing to write home about, the movie is just a lot of fun from the soundtrack to the easter eggs. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and recommend that everyone at least give it a shot.

Not Mind Blowing But Worth Picking Up 4K

When I went to see this at Cinemark's XD theater, I was expecting to get blown away with the visuals. It didn't move me or excite me in anyway. Watching it on my LG OLED at home at least, I can say it looks really good in 4K. It's still a decently fun movie to watch. I don't recall any crazy with the Atmos, but there was a small amount of overhead effects. Granted I really need to upgrade my 5.1.2 setup to a full 7.1.4 setup; or even a 7.1.6.

This is a fantastic movie. It's almost nothing like the book, other than its most basic premise, but stands on its own as an enjoyable movie. The video quality is noticeably better than the blu-ray release. The image is clearer, crisper and the HDR really brings out the brights, while the blacks are nice and deep.

Another dystopian view of the future, without any apocalyptic disaster, Just too many people and not enough resources, Everyone's wrapped up in playing massive multiplayer games on line as the virtual reality world is quite a step up from actual reality. The main character lives in a gigantic multilevel trailer park but lives to compete on line. Lots of action, great graphics in a dynamic well thought out virtual world. Definitely worth seeing.

Brought this movie on sale, visually the special effects were good, but the story was weak. Knew it was made for a younger audience, but thought it would be entertaining enough to hold my attention, sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't.

Awesome movie for your gamer, movie buff like myself. Story can be a little complicated, but overall great. HAVE to pay attention to character cameos from movies to video games. Even the “Glaive” had its nod for sci-fi movie fans. That had me scream in the actual movie theater. Until my son said “The what? From what?” Nuff said. I ordered the movie(Which one you ask???) True movie buff will know ask them. NUFF said awesome movie!!!

I bought this movie mostly because of how good it sounds in my home theater. If your subwoofer in your home theater set-up is capable, turn up the volume when the Cataclyst blows up everything in the Oasis about 1 hour 49 minutes into the movie. Highly recommended if you have a good sound system. The race for the first key is awesome too. Check it out!

Your kids probably won't get it. But younger Gen X and borderline millenials will bask in the glory that Spielberg has brought to life from the bestselling book - even though, as in all other things, the book was far better. This is a loving tribute to the gaming days of yesteryear and the culture of gaming in the eighties when it went from dying industry to massive powerhouse that it is today. Oh, and it loses a star because of just how terribly they portrayed Serrano in the movie - in the book he's a gleeful sadist and the movie has him softened up to match the PG-13 rating. But the movie looks amazing in UHD, no doubt it's the way to go for this cinematic love letter!

The unique concept of the future of human entertainment and interaction really opens your imagination to endless possibilities. If you have any gamers in your family, they are sure to love it!

The visuals and vibrant colors were amazing. The plot was pretty easy to follow and not complicated at all. I've already seen the movie 3 times and I love it more than the last, so much that I even bought it to add to my collection. It's a great movie to watch with the family on movie night, or any time really.

Although not as good as the novel, this one still has that Spielberg charm. If you love videogames, science fiction, 80's pop culture, espionage, all wrapped in one movie, then this is for you. Main character Wade Watts is on a quest to seek the Easter eggs hidden away by the massive computer program, The Oasis before an evil corporation, with devious plans.

The main reason I purchased this movie in 4K was for the Dolby Atmos sound. I saw this in theaters packed with other people and I wasn't able to enjoy the movie as much due to people talking and looking at their phones. After watching the movie again at home, I enjoyed it a lot more and was able to appreciate the great sound editing that accompanied it. I highly recommend it for those who like high quality CG and a fun action movie.

Ready Player One was an excellent movie. A compilation of characters and all pop culture spanning decades. For those who haven’t seen... it definitely is a must. On the technical side this 4K edition does have Dolby Atmos. It sounds excellent and was one of the main features I was most interested in experiencing. Dolby Atmos on this disc sounds amazing. Picture quality was good as well but that’s more dependent on your tv.

A really innovative and creative take on virtual reality and gaming as it evolves. A true testament to what creativity can bring to the big screen. I was hesitant at first, because it video game movies have never really been good. But this tears down all those previous misconceptions. This movie is an incredible Journey that’ll make you nostalgic and experience a roller coaster of emotions.

This is definitely a films for gamers, comic book readers, manga/anime fans and all of the above. While very CGI heavy it makes sense considering what the film is about. However, you will be left with feeling of excitement and nostalgia while you see some of your fan favorites (whether is video games, comic books, movies, and etc.) on the big screen duking it out amongst each other.

I'm a HUGE fan of the book. Read it four times now. One of the most effortlessly fun experiences I've had with any book. The fact that Spielberg did this adaptation is perfect in itself. That said, a lot of the book just wouldn't translate to the big screen as well as you would think. It took me a long time to get past that fact after seeing this the first time. Once you realize that this is simply another version of the book, then you will have a good time. It should never replace the book. The book should ALWAYS be first. But, the movie can be a great supplement to break apart the numerous readings of the book that you should undoubtedly have.

This movie is great in 3D. It’s too bad that the demand for 3D movies is falling off just when the technology has been perfected. TV manufacturers have stopped adding the tech to new TVs but us die hard fans are still here. This is a great movie and the 3D only enhances the action, I highly recommend it for your 3D home movie collection!

Directed by Steven Spielberg, is the screen adaptation to the book from Ernest Cline. You are welcomed to the OASIS, a virtual reality world created by Halliday. Once he passes, Halliday announces the quest to find hidden keys, locked away in the OASIS. With it, go the fame and fortune, and tons of pop culture references from the 1980's to today. It is a great ride, so buckle up in your DeLorean and take a ride.
