Loved it!! The special effects were flawless!! Even the scenes where virtual characters interacted with real characters, the effects were on point!! ...It was totally AWESOME to see all those video game characters together on one screen, but I really wished they had thrown in my boy KRATOS. Would have truly been epic!! ...When the movie reached its end, I didn't want it to stop. I hope they continue on to make a part 2.

Definitely no where close to the book. Which is unfortunate. It would have been nice to see them at least keep some of the ideas from the book in the movie, but they tried to hard to incorporated today's pop culture into it.

So I'm pretty dumb. I saw the cover and thought this was one of those new virtually reality headsets and that it just folded up really small to get inside such a small container. And since those things usually are a few hundred, I thought this was a steal of a price. I busted it up and found out it was actually a movie about virtual reality. Some kind of documentary as far as I could follow it. Pretty good.

I really enjoy this movie. It is one of the best movies of this time. If you grew up in the 70's you'll love this movie, if you grew up in the 80's you'll love this movie, if you grew up in the 90's you'll enjoy this movie. It's just a fun movie that's beings together everything from our childhood in one movie. This steelbook from Best Buy is also great and the art on it is just great. You should buy this movie.

Spielberg rarely disappoints and “Ready Player One” certainly delivers. Watching this piece of cinematic history in 4K Ultra HD only reminds me that a theatrical experience is possible in the home - only this time I don’t have somebody whispering “sorry” as they climb past me spilling popcorn everywhere. It’s great! Highly recommended.

I purchased the 4k version for my home theater. I heard about this movie through other reviews and wanted to see for myself. This movie reminded me of the old days with the old video game classics and game system. I enjoyed every bit of this movie from the beginning to the end. I was not disappointed in this purchased.

I remember seeing the movie trailers for this when it first came out. I remember thinking it was a solid idea, but didn't have a lot of interest in going to see it in theaters. I recently picked it up on a $9.99 Black Friday deal. It is a solid movie with a great story. That is something that is missing with a lot of today's movies. There is enough nostalgia in it to trigger some old school vibes, but it doesn't relay on that to keep the movie moving forward.

Spielberg goes back to his crowd-pleasing era with this nostalgic look back at the 80s. The 4K audio and video are demo-worthy and the songs and effects fill the room! The extras are fun although on the smaller quantity side but what's there is informative and entertaining. If you read the book, you'll enjoy the movie even though everything couldn't fit into the movie (which is already almost 2.5 hours).

If you have any possible options to do so and you are over 30, PLEASE read the book first and enjoy. Then watch this also good movie that is only mediocre when compared directly to the book but a good CG sci fi flick on its own. This movie is a nearly completely different story than the book it is based on. It has much more modern references to appeal to the current younger goups of folks but if you like CG, sci fi movies that use cliche story points and provide virtually nothing original then this is for you. I know what I expected with this movie and got what I expected. Its a great watch and worth a watch.

I first rented this movie from an on-demand streaming service; I enjoyed it so much I wanted to own it, and when I purchased a Blu-Ray copy, the difference was staggering. The image quality was great, but the SOUND was outstanding. The mixing for this movie is excellent and it's an experience I can only find on Blu-Ray (with my surround sound set up, of course). This is the only way to see this movie.

A Great Sci-fi Movie for people who enjoy being part of the video gaming world. The Move Have Breath taking 4k resolution, and Story Line and Believable Characters, and Cameo Character from some most enjoyable Video Game and movie memory from video games and movies you have watch growing up. So this movie is a you don't want to miss.

First off, the movie is no comparison to the book, but the reality is that you shouldn't compare the two. As Earnest Cline was heavily involved in this movie adaptation, it should be interpreted as a different take in the Ready Player One story. One quibble though is that the love story between Parszival and Art3mis isn't really too developed. Comes off as not too believable as it happens too quickly.

Awesome movie. Very nostalgic to older gamers of 27 and up. You'll see a lot of references both retro and new age. As far as visuals go I watched the UHD on a standard 4k and looked good but without HDR it didn't do the proper justice so I went out and bought a p series vizio and setup HDR and calibrated and the visuals were stunning and with a definitive tech 7.1 surround sound system it was awesome

This is a great movie. But in 4k, it is amazing. Like, demo worthy. The scenes when they are inside the oasis all look amazing. I love the nostalgia of it all. Especially the Delorean!! The colors pop!! The sound is amazing, and it's an all around great story. I love The Shining scene. I got this at an incredible deal for black Friday. I'm so glad I did.

This is classic Spielberg- modern, digital spectacle with old school magic and wonderment. As a fan of the book I came in with high expectations but also with the understanding that there needs to be significant changes to appeal to the younger, less nostalgic audience as well as deal with copyright issues and the change of medium. It is different than the book (not majorly) but equally enjoyable!

I haven't read this book, and usually most book to movie translations are not as good as the source material. But this movie is AMAZING and I really enjoyed it. If you are a fan of anything geeked from the 80's and 90's this movie will take you down memory lane. I have watched it multiple times to find the easter eggs hidden in the movie.

One of these days I would love to explore the mind of Spielberg on what his thought processes are in bringing this old book into light (and magic). A great movie and much better in 4K. Love the soundtrack. It's not entirely for the older generation although I am an exception since I've only grown up with the age of gaming since the early 80's. Worth the buy and the ultimate gamer flick.

It's typically the case that the book is better than the movie when it comes to storytelling. In this case that is an understatement. Don't get me wrong, this is not at all a bad movie, it's actually pretty darn good. The only thing that gets me is that they deviated so far from the book that the plot itself became somewhat different. I was expecting more modern pop culture references and all that, but they completely changed the gates for the keys and much of the main story for what seems to be no reason really. I think its a good movie that could have been a great movie if it followed the book more closely.

Certainly a better Spielberg movie than some of his other recent efforts. Good cast, fun visuals. Still suffers from some of Spielberg's more childish filmmaking tendencies, but it's good enough to see twice.

This was a really interesting film - I really enjoyed it. However, my suggestion is to view it first for the story and then take in several additional viewings to track down all the Easter Eggs and character cameos. Also, make sure you watch the entire special features package - very comprehensive look at the how the film made it from book to screen - what was included and what was changed.
