The movie does not stick entirely to the book, but it makes sense that way. While I usually want a faithful retelling, the book would definitely lack punch on screen. I think the changes are entertaining and make the movie work in this different media format. Great fun and faithful to the ideals of the original work.

The book was excellent, but the abundance of the "F words" was tedious. Worried that it would be equally abundant, I was hesitant to see this movie. There was no need for that. While there are adjustments to the story (compared to the book), this movie is very well done. As fun as the story was, I think we loved all of the 80s references, music, etc. Plus, getting this movie in multiple formats (DVD, BD, Digital Copy) is a huge bonus--especially for Best Buy's excellent Black Friday prices.

Great movie! If you lived in the last 4 decades there is something in this movie for you! Brilliantly conceived and flawlessly executed, every time we watch it we something else we missed before. It's not about video games! It's about growing up in the world we live in today and is relatable by almost everyone. Try it out!

Steven Spielberg's best movie to date. This sci-fi film contains the best mash-up of all the things we loved from the 80's as well as a contest that blows the one Willy Wonka threw out of the park. It is also a great movie to anyone whose a die hard gamer at heart. Can't wait to see what they have in store for the sequel.

Yes, there is GUNDAM in this movie even for a few seconds. Because the Gundam part flow so well. It led to a real GUNDAM hollywood movie in the making. I watch this movie just for the part to see my lovely GUNDAM! I remember I shouted 'GUNDAM' in the theater as well. hahaa

I saw this movie one day just because I was bored. I had not previously watched the trailer or seen anything about this movie. It turned out to be a great movie and I've seen it probably like three times already. Maybe even more. I strongly recommend this movie and loved it.

This hands down is my favorite movie of the year. The basic plot isn't anything new but its what they do with it that is a thing of beauty. I cannot recommend Ready Player One enough to all lovers of movies, video games, and tv shows from the past oh i don't know 30 years or more. It seriously has something for everyone.

So I watched this and I was entertained but the movie. The 4K visuals was great. The nostalgia was all over the place. Was it a bit to much, yes. The story was pretty much predictable and easy to follow. You want to believe the story has heart but you feel like you have seen this story before. To an anime fan, it was basically Sword Art Online without the fear of death from the game system. The "villain" was lame in my opinion and it he could have been more of a jerk. But that is just my opinion.

Here's another masterpiece for the books! Everything great about Spielberg's films are packed in this fun and thrilling story! I was unsure going in but was pleasantly surprised! What a great Steelbook edition to add to my collection as well! Definitely a must have! Give it a chance, trust me you won't be disappointed!

I likes the movie Ready Player One a lot. I'd read the book awhile back before even seeing the movie in the theater and again afterwards. I like them both, but if you're a fan of the book and expecting that the movie follow the book 100%, then you may be disappointed. Think PJ's version of LoTR compared to the original books of Tolkien. We were almost disappointed when watching the movie in 4K that there were no bonus features, but they are on the Blu-ray disc (if you're looking for them).

Ready Player One in itself is an OK movie. It really uses nostalgia to work in the history of other films and our characters. Those who have the 4K equipment to watch this film on, you will enjoy both the picture and sound. The black levels are great and the colors pop off the screen with HDR. The 4K version features Dolby Atmos, so it is loud in most scenes. If you are looking for a trip through nostalgia, with a solid picture and sound, this is a great option to watch at home.

It was alright .I like how the idea behind the movie it's definitely exciting at times and leaves you wondering how games might be advanced in the future.

IF you are a fan of 80s pop culture and video games you need to own this movie. The 4K transfer looks very good. The "outside" or "real world" scenes look good but the scenes where they are inside the "oasis" look absolutely gorgeous with colors popping out from everywhere. No grain is present at all in the Oasis.

There are so many things I missed the first time around in the theater that having this movie in 4k and the ability to pause is so cool! I promise you will find things in this movie you didn't see before. One of my favorite recent movies that kids of the 80's will love.

The movie was much more appealing to me visual wise as opposed to the trailer which made it look truly unique. The love intrest is the typical moody girl (shes like that for no reason because I guess moody is quirky for any character in movies nowadays) then creator was a weird philosophical guy that didnt seem qualified and the main guy was alright... Not the best film but not the worst.

Very enjoyable movie with great action and brought many old memories back to life. Wish they could have followed the book more - really would have liked to seen the D&D module, Joust & Pac-Man scenes on film. Sometimes it makes you wonder if the directors or writers even read the book with so much of it changed.

Bought it for the dolby atmos sound and it was excellent. Really liked the storyline, kinda a young love story. Really thought my 10 year old grandson who is heavy into gaming would really like it, he seemed so bored, and only highlighted the bad words, whoops!

This is a great demo disc to show off your surround sound system. All of your speakers will get a great workout as sound comes from every where. Bought the disc just for the race scene and final battle scene. Bombastic!

Great Movie! Tons of 80's references with classic Spielberg nostalgia! Inventive story and amazing special effects that touches multiple generations. Special features add great insight into the inspiration for the film.
