This movie takes place in the future 2045 when everyone seems to be addicted to gaming and virtual reality. [SPOILER] The whole idea is that some young kids have to compete against an evil corporation to find some game codes and thus inherit a lot f money. The movie was recorded digitally and so it looks great but finished at 2K and up-converted to 4K. hence, it is not native 4K. It does look great, but not a great as Atomic Blonde, which for a 2K upconvert is unbelievable.

Big fan of the book and loved the movie as well. It was very different from the book and normally I’d hate that but to me it works for this movie. Bought it on Blu-ray then got a 4K player so I bought the 4K version Black Friday. Definitely watch it in 4K if you have the set up. Amazing movie and quality

I was bit skeptical at first thinking this was a young person's movie. However, it proved me wrong. This was a great buy especially in 4k. The colors are amazingly bright and beautiful. The story itself worked. It was unique and different than any other movie I have seen. Basically, it is a fun movie to watch.

Ready Player one is a pretty great movie. It differs from the books, greatly. However, it does bring 80's charm and may make you feel like a kid again. There's a lot of action, many iconic character references and pretty cool all around. Just be reminded, it will not be like the book and you'll be okay.

My wife and I really enjoyed this movie. The visual effects were top notch and the story is pretty good as well. What really sold it was the impressive number of references to pop culture and the 80's. Most of them were worked into the movie without being too ridiculous. It is a fun movie with a good message.

I knew I would enjoy Ready Player One but I can honestly say that it did in fact exceed my expectations. How WB was able to license all of those other properties for the film is beyond me but it was great spotting every single one of them. The steelbook itself has a matte finish and features some inner art.

This movie is absolutely amazing! It brings together a great plot that applies to today's modern world, an excellent cast who deliver amazing performances, and all the nostalgia you could want if you grew up in the 80's and 90's. Steven Spielberg never disappoints and you won't want to miss this one!

This is one of my favorite movies of all time! And no I didn’t read the book so I really don’t care if they didn’t stick to it. Amazing car races, great robot fights and an entire scene from a horror movie that stuck to it, even from the smallest things. I highly recommend you watch this! Great family movie

Ready Player One is a nostalgic thrill ride that neatly encapsulates Spielberg's strengths while adding another solidly engrossing adventure to his filmography. It takes place in the near future and everything we do is in a virtual world. It has great action and is just a fun movie. Would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed this movie. I read the excellent book a couple years before the movie came out and was very happy it was being made into a movie. Wasn’t sure the detail of the book would convert over to a movie. They did a pretty good job but a lot of the amazing elements imagined while reading the book where missing. Hopefully those who see this without reading the book first will appreciate the well done movie on its own.

I'm one of those people that wasn't at all familiar with the book this movie was based on so I went into this with just seeing what was on the screen. Overall this was a fun and entertaining movie to watch, in part because of all the various references to things I enjoyed growing up. Of course to catch all of the various references you'll have to watch this movie several times but its one of those few movies where its likely you will see something new with every viewing.

The first time I watched the movie I thought it was OK. After building a full on Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 theater room and watching this movie I was blown away. I've watched 100+ 4K dolby atmost / DTS-X movies and this one is bar far the goto demo disk.

First of all, this movie will bring out the kid in everyone. The 80s nostalgia is thick and even my kids loved all the "Easter eggs " in it. 4k is the only way to watch and experience this. Dolby Atmos is amazing. It starts off with only stereo sound but kicks in when they enter the VR world. Must See!!

Ready Player One is an ok movie, with some good action, but has too many futuristic scenes that seem too VR and not really futuristic. The story is ok.

Ready Player One is a great movie and an even better book. There are so many differences between the two that I would highly recommend both the Book and the Movie. You can watch the Movie without ruining anything in the Book. It is a movie that you can see multiple times and always find something new.

Although Spielberg's adaptation deviates from the novel in several key areas, the film maintains many key plot points and is a winner in the visual effects arena. Wish they had offered a 3D/Blu Ray/Digital Copy combo pack at my local store, however. The OASIS was even more immersive when viewed in 3D.

Just saying that this movie combines everything from the beginning of Gaming systems to a man Who Loved the 80'smore than me a continued on adding much more it's not 100% the book some times it's better. Every in my family and circle friends and gamer friends to Love all the memories and pop culture.

The visuals in 4k are fantastic. However, I found the picture over the top with CGI effects. My grandsons loved it but it wasn’t my kind of movie.

I haven't had the opportunity to read the book from which this film is adapted, so I can't attest to its fidelity, but I can say that I was unimpressed. While the film is entertaining, it lacks characters that made me want to care about them. Most of the characters fit stereotypes we have all seen in countless other films. The film merits a much deeper critique that I just don't have the time for, so I will just recommend watching it without high expectations.

Quite possibly one of my favorite movies of all time, it is definitely one of my favorite of the year. Thought it does differ somewhat from the book of the same name, Ready Player One was a fun romp into the culture I grew up with. Highly recommended for people who grew up in the 80s, 90s and 2000s.
