Non-Samsung filters, the water flows faster but I wonder how good the filter actually is. So I must assume if the flow is slow, it must be filtering the water. It's not a good idea to keep an old filter because a fungus could grow in there. When purchasing a refrigerator keep the cap to the filter opening.

We recommend that you replace the water filter every six months for better quality water. The refrigerator's water filter light will let you know when those six months are up and should be reset after changing the filter. We will surely notate your feedback about this matter for better products in the future.
