    not just a toaster

I’ve literally never seen, or used, anything quite like it. This Revolution 2-slice high-speed smart toaster is incredible! It’s lovely to look at, sure to compliment most other household appliances and decor found in your kitchen. The build quality is there, too. The toaster is heavier than I would have thought, but what this tells me is there’s a lot that’s gone into how well-made this toaster is, and that it’s more than “just a toaster.” Unlike traditional toasters, this Revolution toaster prepares English muffins and bagels to delicious perfection. No more toasting both sides like regular toasters do, even when you have them set on the ‘bagel setting.’ That is beyond annoying! Nothing like that happening here. Now I can enjoy my bagels and English muffins properly. And this toaster doesn’t dry out your bread items either. They come out of the toaster toasted perfectly, yet are still fluffy, spongy, and flavorful. The touchscreen display is amazing, and one of the coolest features of this toaster. There are real images of the bread items, not cartoon graphics. From the ‘Settings’ menu you can set the date and time, and have the display when your toaster isn’t toasting anything, to show a clock face - in either digital or analogue format. Pretty sweet! Plus, you can set the volume level of the alert sound when your food is done. Another cool feature of the visual display is for the countdown timer, when the ‘heating’ cycle has reached its final 10 seconds. But perhaps the most awesome feature of all, is that there is no ‘push down lever’ - no, when you press ‘start,’ the toaster itself draws your chosen bread item down into the two slots, and when it’s done, the racks rise back up so that you can withdraw your toasted item/s without burning your fingers. Very, very cool! The toaster, while operating, is really quiet. The sound is rather pleasant. The crumb tray is pretty basic, too. This one you just gently push in a bit, and the tray pops out. Then you dump the crumbs. Easy as that. Using this Revolution toaster is super easy, too. There’s just three simple steps. First: select food type - what bread or pastry Then: choose your food setting - fresh, frozen, reheat Next: select your desired level of toasting My only real “complaint” would be the price point. Even considering every one of this incredible toaster’s features and exceptional quality, I think it is a bit overpriced. However, this toaster truly is, a Revolution in toasting technology.

    A Toaster From The Future...Kinda?

I'm still unsure of whether or not I like this Revolution Toaster, but I'll give you guys a run down of what it does well, where it falls short and all the noteworthy features that I found while reviewing this product. Once I received this toaster I went out and purchased a bunch of different things to toast. I went to the store and got giant bagels, along with regular bagels, English muffins, pop tarts and several different kinds of bread. This toaster did an admirable job on most items, but fell short on a couple of them. Let's go to a pros and cons list! Pros: Aesthetics are pleasing, it looks really futuristic Touchscreen is bright and responsive It toasts items items fairly well (more on this in cons) Easy to use, no accounts or sign up needed, plug and play Very large capacity for big slices of bread/bagels Screen does go to sleep/clock mode Slices of bread came out perfectly almost every time Cons: No internet connectivity or USB (The software will never be updated on this toaster and you're not controlling it from your phone or getting alerts) Screen is a cheap LCD with light bleed, OLED would have been great especially when it displays a clock in my case for most of the day It had trouble with not burning large bagels (even after setting the "large bagel" setting) Burned my pop tarts consistently and there are no levels of toastiness for pop tarts So overall, I think this toaster is super cool. It's definitely something new and different in the toaster world. You won't see another toaster out there like this one and that's partly because of it's price point. This toaster is a hard pass at the current price point. It's labeled as a "smart" toaster, but doesn't have internet connectivity at all, so that takes a star off and the price knocks another star off. If you're itching for a cool appliance that will look good in almost any kitchen and that no one else on the block will have, then look no further than the Revolution Toaster. Otherwise, buy yourself a nice $50 toaster and maybe a new TV for the price of this. If this were about half the asking price than I may have been able to recommend it as a solid, fun purchase.

This toaster's game has been elevated! While this toaster is essentially just a toaster with a touch screen... no one really goes into how visibility perfect this thing toasts! Near picture perfect toast every time. Very easy to use and pretty straight forward commands. HOWEVER... it is very pricey for a toaster. If you have the extra funds... I would recommend, but otherwise pass on it. It is diffidently in a class of it's own though. Thanks.

It's no bigger than the my old toaster that it replaced, but what a difference! The touch screen menu is intuitive and easy to use. It toasts quickly. The fact that it can handle both frozen and thawed bread products is a plus and the slots are wide enough for thick bagels which it does a great job on. Having precise control over the degree of toasting is a big win and the unit just looks good on the counter. It's just plain cool that pressing start causes the soon-to-be-toasted item to descend slowly into the toaster only to reappear after a short while toasted to perfection and announced by some short beeps. The advertising tag line ("It's not a toaster, it's a revolution") is maybe a bit over the top. It's not at all revolting. I love it.

I just set up and used my new Revolution Cooking High Speed Smart Toaster for the first time this morning. From out of the box, to set up, to using it - it was EXTREMELY easy. I was very impressed be the sheer speed and accuracy of the results. This toaster is replacing a typical four-slice toaster oven and I was concerned about the time difference having to make 2 slices at a time versus 4. My bagel was done is literally a few seconds where my toaster oven would have taken 4:00 minutes plus. with not near the satisfying results. And the results match the digital picture exactly - in a fraction of my (now "old fashioned:") toaster oven's time. I am a big fan of the Revolution Cooking High Speed Smart Toaster!

Honestly, this toaster couldn't have shipped fast enough. When it arrived, I toasted for at least an hour. The way it lowers the bread for toasting is surprisingly relaxing. Getting the settings right didn't even take 5 minutes. The screen is a good healthy size and the colors are bright, detailed, and sophisticated. Definitely brings up my kitchen game to a whole nother level!! I did leave 1 star from perfect because I would have appreciated more settings to customize the idle screen with maybe pictures or additional themes. Because it is so easy to set up and use immediately, I felt a little disappointment that there weren't a few menus to browse through and fine tune the final result. Overall though, I am looking forward to future generations of toasters from this manufacturer and hope they add other appliances to make my home feel a little smarter and luxurious. I definitely think many wouldn't want a toaster as a gift, I don't think anyone would frown at the sight of this as a b-day or Xmas present. Great product, great performance, it's a must buy!

    More Iteration Than Revolution

This is an interesting product to review because it is securely in the premium toaster segment, and while it has the looks to match, it isn’t quite what I would consider to be a “revolution” of toasting as the packaging and name keeps suggesting, but it is still a very effective toaster nonetheless. One of the biggest selling points of this toaster is the enormous touch-screen on the front which acts as both a clock for when the toaster isn’t being used, as well as controlling all of the toaster’s functions. It is eye-catching, bright, and generally makes the toaster look amazing sitting on the counter next to your other appliances. In fact, in terms of style, this toaster is an easy 5/5 for me; it just looks amazing and perfectly in-line with how you would imagine a modern “smart” toaster should look. In terms of function, the touch screen is nice, but far from revolutionary. Firstly, despite being a “smart toaster”, the toaster doesn’t actually do anything all that smart. It offers plenty of presets, specifically, fresh, frozen, and reheat settings for bread, bagels, English muffins, waffles, and pastries. For the fresh and frozen settings, you can choose a toast level of 1-7, with corresponding pictures to show you roughly what that toast level will look like on the final product, which is a nice touch. Additionally, there is a separate check-box in the options for larger bagels, you can control the volume of the noises the toaster makes, and also the brightness of the screen. Overall, this isn’t a bad feature-set at all, and the presets themselves are actually quite effective, especially on something like bagels which you don’t want toasted fully on both sides. That being said, other than the automatic lift and lower feature of the toaster gate, and the touch screen itself, the toaster doesn’t feel all that smart. For example, while the toaster gives you a progress indicator for the toasting process as it commences, it doesn’t truly reflect what is happening in the toaster. For example, I had an issue where I tried to toast an English muffin, but the toaster never actually started heating up. It lowered the muffin in, said it was heating-up, browning, and then it finished and made its chime. Yet, when I checked it, the muffin was still cold and the heating hadn’t actually on. I tried again and the same result occurred, which was only resolved when I unplugged the toaster, waited a minute, and plugged it back in. Likewise, despite being a smart device, the toaster doesn’t connect to the internet. There is no app and no wifi connection, so issues like the one I had can’t be updated with a software update. Likewise, with such a big screen, it’s a shame it can’t be used for more, such as casting a slideshow to the toaster from your phone when the toaster isn’t being used, or putting a recipe on the screen when cooking. It looks so nice, but it just feels like it isn’t being used to the full potential of being a smart device, since unlike most smart devices, it doesn’t have a place in the internet of things, and for the price, that’s a shame. Now, when you remove the “smart” aspect of the toaster, and the visual flourishes, what remains is actually a pretty good toaster! It uses a heating system called InstaGlo, and it works fairly fast, very quietly, smooth to operate, and toasts evenly. The toaster presets do work well for the most part, although I have found that English muffins can be a bit 50/50 in terms of accuracy to the preset level, with half the time it gets them just right, and the other half it overcooks them. This is likely down to slight variations in the muffin cut and type, so I can’t hold it against the toaster, since any toaster I have ever owned struggles with English muffin accuracy, but it is worth mentioning as something I noticed. The depth of the toaster is good, but it isn’t extra-deep overall, so for 95% of items it should be fine, but for extra large slices of bread, they may stick out of the top just a bit. Also, there are supposed to be heat sensors in the toaster which help with the toasting process, but honestly, its nearly impossible to tell if they work well or not, since there is no indication of temperature on the screen. However, given the issues I had getting the toaster to heat-up at some points, yet it still telling me it was toasting at different stages, these sensors don’t seem to be that effective. All-in-all, the Revolution 2-Slice Toaster is a good toaster. It has many presets for different types of food, looks extremely stylish, has an automatic lift gate, an easy to clean bread tray, and an enormous touch screen. This being said, it is very much style over substance when it comes to claims of being revolutionary or a smart toaster. It toasts well and quickly, but I did have an issue with getting it to actually turn on, and since it can’t connect to the internet, it won’t ever be updated in the future for fixes or improvements like most devices labeled as being “smart”. For the price, 4-slices would have been preferred, or extra-deep slots for larger bread. Make no mistake, it’s a good toaster overall, but for the premium price, I think expectations need to be set accordingly.

When I first saw the Revolution toaster, I was amused. A toaster with a touch screen, which allows you to toast many different kinds of baked goods to perfection? Sounds like the future, but seems like it might be overkill. I had to know if it worked like it claimed to, because if it did, who cares whether it's overkill? I'd take the silliness of attaching a screen and microchips to the kitchen's simplest appliance if it meant luxuriously toasted goods. Sadly, the results of my time spent with the toaster have been less than ideal. After using the Revolution toaster for over a week, I can say I'm seriously underwhelmed. I've toasted a dozen bagels, more than a dozen English muffins, half a loaf of sliced bread, and many waffles. The most important thing I can say to people considering this toaster is that the pictures you see on the screen will almost never match what comes out of the toaster. That simple problem negates the entire value proposition of having a screen and multiple options as to how you want your baked goods toasted. And there is very little in the way of customization available; no timer, no heat levels, just what's programmed into the toaster. Now, it's not all bad. The heating elements on this thing put out a nice high heat, crisping the outside of baked goods while allowing the insides to get warm and chewy—when it doesn't burn the heck out of them. And playing around with the settings allows the user to eventually settle on something that produces a nice result. It's possible, but takes trial and error. Toasters generally shouldn't require lots of trial and error—especially those that advertise results and don't deliver. That said, I have enjoyed some very good toasted goods this past week. Like most toasters, results differ when you start it hot rather than cold, so toasting two of the same item one after the other produces two different results. I found myself reducing the heat level on the second bagel in a row to get something that approached the same level of toasting. Ironically, the best experience I had with the Revolution toaster was with the cheapest possible bread: frozen waffles. Before finding settings I liked, I burned English muffins and bagels and under-toasted sliced sourdough; but frozen waffles came out nearly perfect the first time. Like I said, it's possible to get great results from this toaster, but it should decidedly NOT be a guessing game, especially at this price point. Speaking of price point, I've tried high-end toasters from Dualit and Cuisinart, and considered options from Breville, KitchenAid, and Wolf. I can say without hesitation that if I could return this and get the classic Dualit at the same price point, I would. When it comes to toasters, it seems, I prefer simplicity of control, even if it means giving up some of the computerized logic that might allow for a better result under specific circumstances. If the Revolution could ever accept firmware updates, I could see it becoming a much more delightful experience, but as this toaster doesn't seem to have a way to connect to the internet or a USB stick, I'd say that's very likely impossible. Until that unlikely scenario comes to pass, I'll continue my trial-and-error process to find the proper settings for various items, starting both cold and hot. It's not ideal, but it's what I've got.

Overall this toaster was amazing the last 3 years until recently… it still heats up but weirdly its like the mechanism that made bread go up when its finished stopped working so now its stuck in the down position and you drop the bread in and Turn it on. It still toasts well and it last more than 3 years, I think 3.5 now, so we got our moneys worth but will likely need to buy another one.

In all my 49 years I have used the same style toaster that most everyone is familiar with. Seeing this device I wondered how it could justify the high price point. It looks great, has a great touch screen and is easy to set up. Where it really shines is in how it makes the bread of your choice. Unlike a standard toaster that treats all breads alike, this device has different settings and heating ranges for different products. You can even adjust for supermarket prepackaged bagels or thicker bakery bagels. The price point does seem high but if you are looking for higher end products, this would be the best option.

I really wanted to be excited but fell short mostly, although there are many things I do like about the toaster. Right off the bat it feels cheap and plastic. The screen is cool but you only get the option of a clock (enough of those in the kitchen) or their logo, would be nice to upload your own or just allow the screen to be off when asleep. Larger toast is a no go, have to flip it and then half the toast is unevenly cooked. The bagel feature is awesome!! The toaster is pretty dead on temp wise and the countdown timer is my favorite part. No more babysitting the toaster to be sure you will get what you want. Overall it does what its supposed to I just wish it had more options for the screen, allowed larger bread and had a more solid feel and look to it. I am on the fence to recommend to a friend but I would definitely tell them its worth a shot.

I had high expectations for this, but take away the touch screen which is almost oversized and certainly adds to the high price point, it is still a toaster. You can select how you want the items toasted but this isn't anything revolutionary. When you select your settings the items are automatically lowered down and up but beyond that, I don't get the "smart" aspect. There isn't an app or anything and it is all controlled from the front screen. It is absolutely sleek and eye catching but beyond that...there wasn't anything overly exciting about the unit.
