I am a huge Apple guy and when I finally bought a vehicle that included Apple CarPlay, I was a little disappointed to discover it didnt have wireless CarPlay. Minor thing in the overall scheme of things, but it was something I appreciated after having rented vehicles for work that have the feature. I was pretty resigned to the fact that it was going to be wired CarPlay for me until I decide to get rid of my 2019 Ram for a newer model. Being that my truck barely has 30k miles on it, that isnt likely to be anytime soon. Then I saw this adapter, from a company that I only knew made dash cameras, I decided to give it a spin. Setup was extremely easy and only took a couple of minutes. I did have to unpair my phone from my truck and then to the adapter, but this wasnt a big deal. There is about a 3-5 second delay after turning on my truck until the adapter "engages" CarPlay, which is pretty fast in my opinion. All of the functions and features work just like it was the factory setup. The screen can be customized to add or remove apps, display settings, etc. Do remember that if you are connected via the adapter and then you plug your phone into a USB port that supports CarPlay, you will be prompted to disconnect and in some cases, it disconnected for me. Now that I have this adapter, instead of plugging my phone into a port, I use sit it in the wireless charger that's built into my truck. It doesnt charge as fast wirelessly and between the charger and the adapter, my phone gets pretty hot. When that happens, I disconnect the wireless adapter and just plug into the CarPlay port. One thing to remember about this device is that you must already have CarPlay built into your vehicle. This adapter just enables wireless CarPlay as opposed to needing the USB port to use it. The only complaint that I have about this adapter is that it automatically turns on Waze for navigation when it connects, but it doesnt disconnect automatically when I turn off my vehicle. If I forget to close out the app, it will remain on and drains the battery. I dont know if this is common for CarPlay adapters, but it is something that I just have to remember to shut off. Other than that, it is a great device and is pretty easy to hide in my vehicle so that it's not in the way.

Pairing and setup is easy enough. Simply go to the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone and after pairing accept the prompt to use the device with CarPlay. Afterwards, navigate to CarPlay on your vehicles MMI like normal and you're ready to rock and roll (no pun intended). This Rexing adapter performs better than the standard/stock systems in some vehicles (Cadillac I'm calling you out). There is a small "boot" time - we'll call it 10 seconds - when you initially start your car, but other than that there's no noticeable degradation in quality or performance than using CarPlay wired. It's worth noting (IMO) they make this adapter look larger than it actually is online, so I was a little shocked (in a good way) to see the adapter in person. If you have a USB port in your center console you can install this out of sight (also may reduce the risk of someone trying to break into your vehicle from seeing the cables/box) and with this in mind it's awesome that they ship this with both a USB-A and USB-C cable (USB-A/USB-C and USB-C/USB-C) to future-proof your purchase. BMW owners - sorry this one is NOT compatible with your vehicles (-1 star because I'm currently in the market for a new car and considering BMW).

I normally use a Samsung Galaxy Android phone, but our new car (Porsche Macan) only supports Apple CarPlay. My wife is the primary driver, and she has an iPhone, so I figured this would be perfect for her. She can leave her phone in her purse and not have to deal with a wire running out of the center console. One thing I really like about this adapter is its compact size. The center console doesn’t have much room, so this small unit works well. It’s smaller than a desk of cards, and the included USB cord is just long enough without having to coil it and deal with storing that excess cabling. The unit works well and connects automatically. I can’t tell the difference between using this wireless adapter and a hardwired connection. It’s just as fast to connect and startup the app. I haven’t noticed that the unit gets too warm, so being stored in the bottom of the center console is not a problem. This product works well, and I highly recommend it. Once you go wireless, you’ll not want to use a plug again!

Connected right up on the first try, worked once, and then on power cycle never connected again. Reset the unit and started over. Worked once, rinse, repeat. When it is working before a power cycle it is very laggy, CarPlay display occasionally pixilates, and it randomly drops. Tried different cables with the same result. Bought a different brand and that one works flawlessly with barely any lag.

The device is very small, easy to pair, and works effortlessly with my 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300. The connection is stable. No drops.

Works flawless connects automatically not much lag but that’s to be expected with any of these.

This adapter was easy to set up, and works exactly like my integrated wired CarPlay. I’ve been wanting to do this, and I couldn’t be happier that I did.

Did a little searching and found this device online. Works like a charm and as intended. Plug in, sync up and you’re good to go. Only works if your car comes factory with wired CarPlay. I think it’s a pretty good investment especially if you’re on the road a lot and need hands off GPS, messages, calls etc. definitely recommend this product.

Wish not being able to use steering wheel controls was advertised. I will be returning. 2019 Silverado.
