We purchased a set of these lights to go with our Ring alarm system. We were pleasantly surprised that the lights were brighter than we expected. They work great with the Ring alarm system and sync very well with motion. We've bought several more in the meantime.

Works on batteries that will last a year. Solid construction and has the ring logo giving you more protection. Very satisfied with the bright light at night as it is motion activated with my car or with me walking through the front door.

Easy to connect and install. Uses 4 D batteries which I bought in April and just replaced Nov. They spot movement before my hm camera (smh) it’s impressive. I lowered the sensitivity when the weather is windy and keep shrubs trimmed or that can effect accuracy and detection. Overall great product.

If you don’t want to use regular batteries. This is the product to get. I bought six of them now. The best about these lights is that they get a charge from the sun. They are very easy to set up as well.

We decided it was time to replace the cheap solar powered lights outside as they were getting to end of life and not consistently working, to battery powered lights that use batteries. We ended up purchasing 8 for around the house and connected to the WiFi. It's great to also connect them together as when one detects motion, all light up. This helps both as a protection from potential intruders or noisy neighbors, as well as not trip over myself when taking out trash at night or filling bird feeder. Love them!

The only reason I don't give it 5-stars is having batteries. I've had it installed for a month and so far, so good. However, I doubt the batteries will last a full year as advertised. The operation has been great though and the light is significant without being overbearing.

      Hi JeffJ.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Smart Lighting Pathlight Battery so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device, such as the Ring Smart Lighting Pathlight Battery, is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like you are concerned about the battery life of your Ring device. Ring Pathlights are part of the Ring Smart Lighting line of products that strengthens your Ring of Security while illuminating your home and property. Ring Pathlights are motion-sensing smart lights used in multiples to illuminate paths and accent landscape features. Battery-powered for easy no-wiring installation Pathlights also add further motion detection reach. While batteries in Ring Smart Lights will last for months with normal use, there are several factors that may impact battery life.

      1. Weather conditions:

Extreme hot and cold temperatures can impact your battery life and performance. Replaceable alkaline batteries that are required for some Ring Smart Lights can be impacted when temperatures drop below 41˚F/5˚C, but performance returns to normal once temperatures warm up.

      2. Increased activity:

The more motion events are triggered by your Ring Smart Lights, the more your battery is used to power the device. If your device is reacting to an excessive number of events each day, you may find that your batteries drain faster than expected.

To prevent excessive activity, you can take the following actions:

Adjust your Motion Settings to a lower sensitivity.
Adjust your Light Sensor to a lower sensitivity.
Disable Motion Detection during specific hours of the day.
Change Smart Alerts to Standard or Light.
Adjust the direction of your Ring product.

The following tips and tricks will help you use the light and motion sensors on your device to maximize battery life and reduce the number of unwanted motion alerts.

      For longest battery life:

Set Light Sensors to 0 or 1 so that the lights only turn on if it's very dark.
Reduce the brightness to the lowest setting.
Set Group Auto Shutoff time to 30 seconds.

      To reduce daytime activation:

Set Light Sensors on devices to a low setting so the lights only turn on in the dark.
For Linked Device triggers, set a time window that closely mimics darkness outside.
When creating the link for a device to trigger the lights on Spotlight Cam, Floodlight Cam or another group, consider making the time schedule available later in the night to earlier in the morning.

We purchaes 13 of these fir our front yard. I used them as planter noxes light and as a pathlight. They work well but at thw ti.e of purchase i did not realize that eaxh one takes 4 D bateries to run. If younuse the normal setting younwill have tonreplace the batteries every 3 weeks so have them on night light only. They are strurdy and light up good. The biggest drawback is that we recently changes wifi router and i had to reset each one plus the bridge. A royal pain in the ... Now they have the solar ones that look exactly the same. Inwould get those.

Overall these are pretty nice. Easy to set up. Looks good. Easy to install. Ring app is easy to use. But it requires 4 D batteries. Kind of expensive to run. Supposedly it lasts for a year. We shall see. But overall worth it so far.

Have ring doorbell as well. Huge fan! They hold up in weather quite well, however it hasn't really snowed much. We set up the settings to work beautifully that when someone walks down the pathwalk, we are only notified when they reach the 3rd light. We have the lights spaced about 5 feet apart and they light up the walk wonderfully. Couldn't be happier with the product. The ring app lets us know the battery life, which is supposed to be 1 full year. We previously had expressive solar lights and these blow them away.

This is a good product, provided adequate lighting for one of my dim walking paths, but the bridge is definitely needed, as it does kill batteries pretty quickly if not controlled.

Since Google Nest does not have any lighting-related products, I decided to try Ring Smart Lighting for lighting purposes only; I currently use Nest Cams around the home. I couldn't be more happier with these pathlights. I have purchased 11 pathlights thus far and intend to purchase more. The two main features that I love about them are Light Groups and Motion Sensing. Depending on how you group them, if at least one light is triggered, then you can have the group turn on. It's pretty amazing when someone is walking up to your front door and the path to it lights up like an airport runway. Pretty sweet. They can also be setup to send push alerts to your phone; I chose the light closest to my front door to send a push alert. This let's me know that there is someone within a few feet of approaching my door and then I can confirm on the Nest Doorbell cam. For those with questions about battery life: They do run with 4 D-sized batteries and I run these with the ambient light on during the night. It has been over two months since I've started using them and the Ring app reports that the batteries are still "full". Only time will tell how long they truly last, but it looks very promising.... The only drawback that I can see is the Ring Bridge. You need to have it close enough so that all your pathlights are within signal reach to it. I have my bridge mounted outside under the eaves outside my garage door. It could be difficult for me to try and install pathlights in the backyard and I think you can't run two bridges at the same time.

      Hi softwareEngineer.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. The features and technology provided by the Ring Smart Lighting Pathlight are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

A Ring Smart Lighting Bridge is limited to one per Location in the Ring app. However, if you need to extend your Ring Smart Lighting system's reach, especially in a larger property or with a detached structure, you may set it up as a separate Location or Ring account, so you can install another Ring Smart Lighting Bridge there. This allows you to set up another Ring Bridge at that separate location, effectively creating two independent networks controlled and operated independently.

For more information on your Ring Smart Lighting Pathlight , we invite you to reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their personal feedback and experiences with Ring. We look forward to hearing from you if we can be of any further assistance!
