I got this to replace an older 2K Ring camera that has been showing some issues. Perhaps one of the best things about Ring cameras is if you know one Ring camera, you know them all. They all have different capabilities, but they are packaged the same way and are all installed the same way. Packaging: The camera and all installation accessories are nicely packed in plastic envelopes that are clearly numbered for easy identification. There is no wiggle room in the packaging - it is all tight, nicely padded, and secure. Installation starts with scanning a QR code and then following a video. It is very easy to connect and install, and it took me about ten minutes from taking everything out of the package to looking at the picture on my phone. Everything needed for installation on both wood walls and brick/stone is included, and the instructions change based on selecting the type of wall in the app. Use: Everything is done through the Ring app, and that makes it convenient for when you have multiple Ring cameras. I set up the camera notifications in the app, and when the camera detects motion, I get an instant notification from the app. I can tap on that notification to go to the live view. History and the collection of recorded videos are easily accessible through the app. There are also “Smart” notifications and AI Combined Single Alerts, but I avoided that because it requires extra processing of videos by Ring. I’d prefer to keep my videos as private as possible. All setup is done from within the app. There are far too many options to cover in a review, but the product information does a great job of explaining it all. One option that I really like is the ability to start one camera recording based on another camera starting. I have Ring cameras in the side and back yard, and I set it up so that the back camera turns on when motion is detected in the side yard. Pretty cool. The picture: The picture is nice and sharp, and I have no complaints about the quality of the picture. I like the zoom, but it is only really good up to around 6X or 7X. Anything after that, and while it is zoomed in, the quality isn’t as good. It is nice to be able to zoom, though, and that was one of the features that made me choose this camera. It could be better, but it’s not too bad. One aspect of the picture that didn’t really work well for me was night recording. The video is supposed to be in color at night, but the only way to get color is to have the spotlight turn on. The product information states that with their Low-Light Sight feature, it is not necessary to turn on the spotlight to get color in the night. I’m not sure what is going on with that. Overall, I am pleased with this camera, and it is a good addition to my other two Ring cameras.

I was glad for the opportunity to review this Ring Spotlight Cam. I already had a non spotlight 4K ring camera overseeing my back yard and have been amazingly impressed by the image quality, both day and night. Yes, the night view is lit by infrared, but still amazing. So, to have the opportunity to get that with a spotlight gives me a chance to expand coverage to better cover my driveway versus what I get with my doorbell camera while providing something I’ve been wanting - an automatic spotlight. Installation was pretty straightforward provided that you plan for how the camera will be powered. Like just about everything ring, this will connect to your home’s wifi and then be provisioned and viewed in the ring app. As I already have wiring by the front porch for holiday lights, getting power was pretty easy so I just needed to drill pilot holes to secure the mount to the wall. Once installed, spend about 3 -5 minutes adding to your ring account, home wifi, and then the camera doing an update. As expected, the daytime quality is excellent both for images and video. I configured the zone to monitor. Because I want to illuminate the porch upon return at night, I necessarily gave it a wide view so get a lot of notifications during the day until I remembered that I can configure it to only give notification in a time window. This then lets me tailor things so the camera is most reactive from late evening on. Unfortunately, ring still has not fixed the issue where the time range is limited to the “current” day, so while I can go from 7pm to midnight, I can’t do 7pm to 6am.

Night time is where this shines. The spotlight is rated for 600 lumens. This is less than the rating of one of the bulbs in my dining room light fixture but does a very good job illuminating the area outside. Well enough that the camera continues to record in color mode, even in the darkest night. Yes, things away from the light’s FOV are not well illuminated and so can end up actually not being as visible compared to night vision mode, but as most of the time, I want to see what has wondered into the area covered by the spotlight, this is not as big a concern. Aside from the schedule issue with the app, the biggest issue is speaker quality. While the mic does a good job recording sound so the audio in videos is good, for 2-way conversations this sucks. Turning up the volume helps but introduces distortion. Another issue, though much more minor is the delay between motion and the spotlight activation. Despite this issue the siren is plenty loud. Overall, this Ring Spotlight Cam does exactly what I hoped it would: extend reliable coverage, provide meaningful nighttime visibility, and integrate smoothly with the rest of my Ring setup. While a few quirks remain, most notably the limited scheduling window and the underwhelming speaker, the core performance, image quality, and the added utility of the spotlight make it a strong addition to my home security system. For anyone already invested in the Ring ecosystem and looking to bolster their nighttime monitoring, this camera is an upgrade that’s easy to recommend.

Sent from my Galaxy This all new second generation 2025 model of the Ring Cam Pro (plug in version) with retinal 4K giving this camera superb video quality comes full of surprises. It has ten times enhanced zoom and two surprisingly bright LED spotlights on each side of the camera. For how small they are they put out a great amount of light. Granted, these are not floodlight like most cameras have. But you get the best of both worlds all in one compact camera. Like a lot Ring cameras it has two way voice, so you can hear what's going on outside as well the ability to speak to whoever is outside. It also has a very loud siren that you sound or turn on. The enhanced ten times zoom is not motorized you control by pinching or expanding the viewing area on the device your viewing the camera on.  Now this is one surprises I was referring to earlier, this camera has automatic motion warnings. Basically it has preset sayings you can choose from for the camera to say to the intruder when the camera is activated.  The spotlight is also adjustable. Another cool thing in my opinion is that the night vision in color, not black and white like most. Getting everything setup is really easy, basically download the Ring application and if you already have other Ring devices and have already made an account its as simple as signing in and adding your new device and follow steps to get going. I've got multiple Ring cameras myself, as well as Blink cameras as well both ran or owned by Amazon. The one problem I have with all Ring devices is if you wanted any save or captured videos they force you pay for their subscription. Now even worse , their subscription cost is $4.99 monthly and that only covers one device. Now if you're a good customer and buy more of their devices, do you think those are covered under the $4.99? Nope now you have to pay $9.99 a month. And that only covers 4. Blink on the other hand doesn't force you into subscriptions. They give you the option of recording locally and storing at your home via plugging in a usb to the module you receive.   Same company owns them for the life of me I don't understand that logic. But as far as this camera goes its amazing and I'd highly recommend it to others 

The new ring Spotlight Cam Pro is finally a 4K quality camera from ring that improves upon one of the biggest complaints from most Ring camera users, video quality. The version I got was the plug in version so in the box you will find the camera, the mounting hardware and brackets as well as the power adapter that connect to the camera via a USB c plug. As with all Ring products initial set up and all settings are done via the Ring app. I already have the app on my phone as I already use a few ring products. This camera was replacing a previous gen Ring Spotlight Cam Pro that had 2 batteries in it. I paired that with the ring solar panel which was great in keeping the batteries charged however they would always seem to die in the winter. After installing the camera I ran the wire to an outlet that was previously installed outside for my Christmas lights. Luckily I was able to route most of the cable out of site under the eve and vinyl siding. Once the light was installed and powered up I was easily able to get the camera on my Wifi and I had the ability to adjust the settings to my needs. The camera features 3D motion detection which is radar powered meaning is limited to 30 ft of detection range. If you need motion detection at more than 30 ft then I would recommend turning off the 3d motion detection and sticking to the traditional motion zones that can be customized in the ring app. The 4k video quality makes such a difference in the videos as I cam able to see things very clearly. The 10x zoom is also great as the increased resolution allows you to zoom in with greater quailty video. This camera like the previous generation features 2 way talk as well as the siren that can be activated via the app. I feel like the speaker is of better quality than before but may be wrong. Night time videos are great as you do get color videos in low light and black and white video in total darkness. The spotlight is 600 lumens and does a great job illuminating the immediate area. Cloud storage of the videos does require a subscription which was not a problem for me because I already subscribe. Overall I am very satisifed with the improvements from Ring as I recently looked to switch my cameras to another company with 4K quality cameras. Ring also has released these cameras with POE capabilities which would be great as I can reduce the reliance on Wifi. I would recommend the Ring Spotlight cam Pro to anyone looking to install a reliable high quality camera at their home

Ring really hit the sweet spot on this one! The Ring Spotlight Cam Pro is bright, the Retinal 4K video quality is razor sharp, the audio is crystal clear, and the power cord is very, very long! That last one is a surprisingly common issue to come across with spotlights & cameras that are not powered via conduit wiring or USB-C! So, extra kudos to Ring for including the extra long power cord and having screwholes for mounting the transformer 'box' in the middle built-in, while also having it small enough to be barely noticeable! I was able to use the just large enough size of it to hold it up with some hook and loop strips, my apartment is particular about certain things being drilled into the brick (goofy decorations, OK. Safety devices, not OK). Anyway, the rest of the setup was easy to follow the included instructions, making safe & strong adjustments as needed, the setup in the app was even easier, especially if you're and existing Ring user because you'll just add the device to your account and home, then follow the steps to complete the device setup. If you're new, you need to download the Ring app, create an account, and then it's the same easy steps. After the device is part of your home, you can start using the motion sensing alerts, modes, light settings, controlling video quality for storage use, even things like the orientation of the picture can be adjusted after mounting the Spotlight Cam Pro! All of these options and settings might even start to sound like just the norm from Ring, because they are! I'd recommend this if you don't have an existing outdoor light you'd be replacing or you want to add an on to a location that might have outlet access within ~6-10ft or don't have the ability/property permission to change the light that's there. It's a great, very flexible addition to outdoor security that adds a lot of the benefits a Ring Doorbell might add without having to place a battery powered doorbell, or any at all, and still have the benefits of being able to interact with people who come up to it via the 2-way communication AND the added benefit of the bright spotlights on each side of the 4K camera (that has great NV, too). Hugely recommend!

The Ring - Spotlight Cam Pro (2nd Gen), Plug In, Retinal 4K for ultra-clear video, 10x Enhanced Zoom, 2 LED Spotlights – White performs better than prior Ring cameras. The increased performance is immediately recognized once I got it up and running. Setup was easy with the Ring app’s nice software features. I only needed to scroll down to the bottom of my phone screen and then press setup and follow all instructions. This Ring model does not use a battery for power, so it must be mounted near an AC outlet to accommodate its long power cord. I can mount it in two different ways, either a flat wall or door or hang it from a ceiling or high place. I can connect the Ring using 2.4GHz or 5GHz WiFi. After connecting, my phone shows the most recent live view and can zoom from that live feed to pinpoint any item not clearly recognizable. The 4k quality produces better digital zoom and video quality. The retinal 4K vision is created to mimic the human eyesight’s ability to properly decipher all images and shapes. I see a wide degree of field viewing capacity with excellent video resolution. It can sharply read a license plate that is not too far away. The Ring has two manual spotlights blasting 600 lumens of tremendously bright light, which can also be activated when motion is detected. I can set the lights to come on at specific times as well. There is amazing HDR infrared night vision for low light and 3D motion detection limited to only a few dozen feet. Notifications are quickly sent to my phone and the light reacts fast to motion detection. Events are marked on a timeline. Two way talk can be achieved as well from below the live feed by tapping duplex and the siren can be activated by pressing controls. It needs a better speaker and microphone because the audio pickup can be lacking sometimes for background noise such as passing cars. The AI appears to operate well with detection between objects, people and animals being easily recognized. The Ring is resistant to the effects of weather also. A paid subscription is needed to watch surveillance uploaded to the cloud. Settings control motion, smart alerts, smart responses by AI, Video settings, snap shots and etc. The Ring - Spotlight Cam Pro (2nd Gen), Plug In, Retinal 4K for ultra-clear video, 10x Enhanced Zoom, 2 LED Spotlights – White can fulfill the tasks of home surveillance and provide assurance that my home is safe.

I recently added the Ring Spotlight Cam Pro (2nd Gen), Plug-In, Retinal 4K in white to my home security setup, and overall I’d give it a positive three-star rating. There’s a lot to like here, but a few things keep it from being a perfect buy. Setup was quick and easy, especially since I already use the Ring ecosystem. It connected to my existing Ring app immediately with no extra steps or confusion, which made the whole process smooth and frustration-free. The jump to Retinal 4K video quality is genuinely noticeable. Images and recordings look sharp and extremely detailed, and that clarity even holds up at night. The camera does a great job maintaining outlines, movement, and facial detail even in low-light environments. The motion detection performs exactly as expected—responsive, consistent, and customizable enough to avoid most false alerts. The built-in LED spotlights are bright, effective, and a welcome addition for both visibility and deterrence. One feature I especially appreciate is the ability to adjust the brightness of the spotlights. Being able to fine-tune the lighting makes the camera more flexible for different times of night and different areas around the house. While it’s a strong performer overall, I’m giving it three stars because it feels like an incremental upgrade rather than a standout leap, especially considering the higher price point. Still, with its clear 4K video, reliable detection, and easy integration, it’s a solid addition for anyone already invested in the Ring ecosystem.

I’ve been using different security cameras for a while, and this is my first time with Ring cameras. I’m really impressed with what Ring is doing! Setting up is super easy. Once you have the Ring app, just scan the QR code on the camera, and the app guides you through everything, including installing the hardware. I think it took me about 30 minutes from start to finish. The video quality is amazing. I have some newer cameras from other companies, and I’m impressed by those too, but this Ring camera seems to be on another level. The image is very clear and sharp, and it’s still great when recording video at night. I love how the spotlights blend into the side of the camera and do an amazing job of lighting up the area around it. Honestly, what really sets Ring apart is the ‘neighborhood’ features. Everyone with a Ring camera can join the neighborhood and help each other find lost pets and share things that might need the neighborhood’s attention. It’s like a hyperlocal social media network. I haven’t seen anything like this on any other security cameras. If you’re looking for a new security camera or a great upgrade for an older one, Ring should definitely be on your list. The video quality is incredible, installation is a breeze, and the neighborhood features offer something that the competition doesn’t.

The Ring Spotlight Cam Pro is a great security device with its features allowing it to fit better in areas of my home where other systems seem to miss. The 4K resolution is better suited to support the zoom feature offered and the 600 lumen light makes it perfect for my backyard, which backs up to a side street. I am able to clearly see vehicles parked out back that are 20-30 yards away where I believe a 1080p system would fail. The motion detection functions well and ignores leaves and cars driving past which I ran into using other Ring products like the Doorbell. Unfortunately, there are some substantial drawbacks too. The cam pro is really bulky and doesn’t do a great job of blending in to a siding or porch. It clashes loudly with any kind of home aesthetic you’d really go for. Since this has a lot of new features, it requires more power to stay up and running. The fact there is no solar power battery pack or rechargeable pack like the Doorbell is a huge miss. Having to run a wire to have it constantly drawing made setup a bit more challenging and wouldn’t bode well for someone who isn’t handy. 4K video is a fantastic upgrade but not being able to store it without a fee is frustrating.

The Ring Spotlight Cam Pro (2nd Gen) is a nice security camera by Ring. It has a Retinal 4K camera for ultra-clear video, 10x Enhanced Zoom, and 2 LED Spotlights. It’s not battery powered, but it’s Plug In powered. The cable is quite lengthy for allowing you to plug into a nearby outlet. The product comes well packaged and setup was very easy setting it up in the Ring app. I was able to add it to my Ring account with all of my other cameras. The Spotlight Cam Pro comes with 2 LED lights on each side of the camera. They are bright and light up a decent amount of area. It will work great as an outdoor floodlight. Since I already have a Rind outdoor floodlight, this works perfectly in my basement. I have an unfinished basement where all entry doors do not have light switches next to the door. There’s one door that if I come in from outside at night, it’s dark and I have to find my way to the light switch. This camera works perfectly for that situation. Now when I enter through that door at night, it picks up my motion and brightens up the room for me to see. It also serves as a security monitor while helping to protect my home. The speaker on the camera is loud and clear. Overall, I’m pleased with the performance of this camera.

This is the second Ring camera I have set up at my home. After the experience I had with my indoor Ring cam plus, I was a bit worried. However this camera is more what I expected. Setting it up was fine and it has worked better, quicker than the other one. Installing it outside was pretty simple too. Make sure you have it in a strong wifi spot, a couple screws for the bracket and it's installed. The cord is a nice long cord to make finding a location easier. Thi Spotlight Pro has a nice clear picture. Zooming in during the day is fine but not as clear at night. Also I found the best picture is within 20 feet or so. Keep that in mind when choosing an install location. Don't expect to see something 100 feet away very clearly. The light is decently bright at night and so far, quick to respond. You can have it turn on when it detects motion or manually. The siren is definitely loud and startling, It's a good way to scare off people that get too close or even wildlife you don't want around. This camera can also be used with Alexa on TVs or echo display devices. A good addition to add more coverage to your Ring security system.

I really like having a spotlight on my cameras. I feel like it is the next step in total surrounding awareness. Having a spotlight will really detour, most thieves from continuing to snoop. The spotlight is bright enough to identify the person on the camera and the it’s 4K resolution compliments the overall utility of this camera. I only wish that they made a battery powered one like I’m using now with another company as I don’t have a lot of places to plug-in around the outside of my house exterior. A battery camera with a solar solution makes more sense for my use case. Mounting the camera is very easy and straightforward and it is just like mounting any other surveillance camera. If you’ve done one, you’ve done them all. All you need is a drill. The build quality is quite good considering this is an outdoor camera and it has rained here in the last several days and I have had no issues. The camera transmits a clear image even in the rain which is something I can’t say for all the cameras I’ve tested. If you’re vested in the Arlo ecosystem, the Spotlight camera is a no-brainer for you.

TL;DR - the Ring Spotlight Cam Pro 2g is a solid choice for those who are already in the Ring ecosystem. Compact enough to place nearly anywhere, this is a good device to augment your ring doorbell when you have a large front porch. It's also handy for placement to cover the front yard, spaces between houses, or garage and basement spaces. The spotlight feature is pleasant and more than bright enough to make large spaces visible. Just realize that if you're not already in the Ring ecosystem, you'll have to subscribe to Ring services to use this for more than just a basic camera. I'm going to gloss over unboxing and setup because the unboxing is the Ring experience we've come to expect and setup is as easy as it's always been. I do recommend installing the camera as high as you comfortably can, however, to give it as broad of a view as possible. Also, while this version of the Ring Spotlight Cam Pro 2g doesn't come with a solar panel, it's compatible with any Ring solar panel that supports USB-C devices. Usage is what I want to cover here. Compared to other compact security cameras I've used in the past, I'm a fan of how much brighter the spotlight is since it's multiple LEDs and not a single LED. If you happen to be looking outside or use this as a "greeting light", it does provide enough light where you'll be able to see any hazards in your lawn or basement at night. However, it does not replace a flood light in terms of seeing the whole yard with your naked eye. This is where camera sensitivity comes into play, however - the Spotlight Cam could see my 30x50 basement in full color with ease. Now comes the part that I'm torn about - Ring services. You'll need to subscribe to Ring services if you want more than just a camera with a light on it, as activity recording, AI features, video previews, and so are hidden behind the monthly or yearly fee. If you subscribe to Ring Premium and have an internet service provider that uses data caps (common with cellular and satellite internet, less common with DSL, cable, and fiber), keep in mind that you'll constantly be streaming video to Ring's cloud servers from your cameras. I prefer local storage in this regard and would love to see Ring make a network video recorder to help with data usage and privacy concerns. All in all, however, the Ring Spotlight Cam Pro 2g is a solid option for a security camera. If you're already in the Ring ecosystem, it's a terrific option for you.
