The movie lacked all the good features that the original had. The story is a stretch. The animation is unreal. So many flaws.

I pictured it different it should have been a take off the planet of the apes

Not only is this the best "Apes" film since the original, i's the best of the entire series. The story is well developed, with a reference to a lost Mars mission that sets up well for a sequel. I also liked the subtle homages to the original sprinkled throughout the film. The acting was adequate with two exceptions. John Lithgow and Andy Sirkus Both gave Oscar worhty performances. Lithgows' performance is both heartwarming and heartrending and Sirkus really brings Caeser alive. The CGI is the best I've seen and should garner an Oscar nomination. I enthusiastically recommend this film to both fans of the series and those who have never seen an "Apes" film but enjoy a well made film with a good story with great acting and production values. Believe me, If you buy this film you will feel you got your monies worth.

This is the best Planet of the Ape movie yet!!!! This is a must see I saw it at the movies twice and was waiting for the DVD to come out!!!! One of the best movies of the year along with The Help.

I remember watching all original Planet of the Apes movies as a kid, but was never terribly enamored with any of them really. They were incredibly funny to me really. When the first "remake" came about, I was immediately intrigued with Tim Burton attached as director. But what a train wreck that movie turned out to be. When this second "remake" came about had zero interest in seeing it during it's theatrical run. Some how, some way, this found it's way into my shopping cart. And much to my surprise I quite enjoyed it. It's good!

I wasnt to thrilled to see another planet of the apes movie ... i grew up seeing the TV version and i seen all the movies but this is by far the best of the all the movies ... even if you never seen any planet of the apes before ... this is the one to see plus it explains how it all started ... and learn how the rise began!

I remember watching the original Planet of the Apes in the 70s, and all the sequels that followed. I love the original to this day, and own the entire collection. I am so happy that Hollywood was able to re-boot this franchise anew (let's just forget about that Mark Walberg failure -- nothing against Mark; the movie just wasn't good) with a solid story that not only has a new and believable premise, but a new chronology; starting in the beginning.

This film is a worthy successor to the original Planet of the Apes films. Not only is the story compelling on the surface, with great acting (especially from Andy Serkis) and photo real special effects, but the cultural subtext is present from the first films as well. The Blu-ray is loaded with special features that are interesting and to the point, and the digital copy is handy for when you just have to have Apes on your phone. A must-have for your collection.

This movie surpasses all the previous Apes films.As an animal rights advocate,I found the theme of this feature to be timely and moving.I was totally engrossed in the evolution of Caesar from a loving,dependent pet,into a hardened,vengeful rebel.And the climax of the film,will bring tears to your eyes.

Gotta love the picture quality of this blu-ray version of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. But the title could be made more concise--typical negligence by a foreign film studio.. Although sentiments is a big selling point of this movie, the scene I like most in the movie is when the police charges the apes. Waiting for the sequel to come on screen soon!

I was a big fan of Planet of the Apes when I was younger so I was quite nervous how this movie would turn out. I was very pleasently surprised to see a good film. This movie shows us the start of how the apes took over the planet. Good story and well acted. The apes movements all look great witht the CGI as well. Very believeable. I can't wait for the next one to come out this summer. It looks even better than this film.

This is the rare prequel that can be appreciated even by people who weren't fans of the original series. Great story; the plot moves along quickly without stopping to linger on the amazing special effects. The disc extras are substantial, especially Wyatt's audio commentary (though may be more technical than some would prefer).

I was extremely impressed with this film. Definitely better than the most recent one with Mark Wahlberg. Can't wait for the next one to come out. Got it for $4.99 with the Upgrade & Save, can't beat that price!

2 Thumbs up! I have the entire Planet of the Apes collection and I never thought that any new version would ever stand up to the original classic versions. I was wrong! I hope this is just a taste of more chapters to come! Your eyes will be glued to this one!

The special effects in this movie are simply mind-blowing!! Finally, we have a movie that gives a plausible beginning to the story many of us saw when we watch the original Planet of the Apes long ago.

I loved the theme of the movie and the stages of growth of Cesear. I think this would have also been a very good 3D movie. I jumped at a couple of the scenes on the standard dvd.

I own both the rise and the dawn of planet of the ape. I love the story line, its' so touching and i shed tears each time i watch it. The 2nd of the series i got it in 3d, too bad it's not available for the first one. I can't wait for the third one to come out!

It is difficult to make a reboot that separates itself from its predecessors, while also maintaining its continuity and pleasing the fans. The picture is great and it even comes with a digital copy!

This is a great movie that really does the original Planet of the Ape films justice. The story of how Caesar came to be has some really heartbreaking parts that are hard to watch, but it's definitely worth it to sit through the entire movie.
