This movie shines over the 2007 reboot made with Walberg - this story involves corporate $, loving your own kind and the real beginning of Caesar & Koba, and the destruction of mankind while trying to cure mankind's illnesses. Great acting by the apes. This story leads beautifully into Dawn of the Apes, good job.

Ive watched all the previous one and Rise of the Planet of the Apes continues an excellent story of how the apes rose to power agains mankind in the very beginning. Great personal stories and relationships as well as exciting and tense action scenes!

I'm not sure if this is a reboot or a remake of the apes films but the movie was good. I loved this premise to this movie. The special effects were nicely done and it was a fun time. The movie is exciting and a great time, it was really interesting to see an ape as a lead character and carry and movie and I just loved it.

My fiance is a movie collector and she picked this up cos she wanted me to watch it before we seen sequel in the theatre... I am not a fan of the Planet of the Apes series so I was not looking forward to watching this one. She insisted I would like it so I gave it a shot mainly to appease her. All and all I was very suprised by this movie! It's far from my favourite movie ever, but it was miles better than what I thought it would be. Of course the plot is pretty far-fectched, but as a sci-fi film I thought it was well done. I think the greatest strength of the film is the emotional bond the viewer will inevitably form with the movies protagonist, Caesar. By movies end you will definitely be rooting for this little guy and all the hardships he endured & overcome throughout the film! I have yet to see the sequel, but I will eventually track it down and give it a watch.

Wonderful sci-fi ... great acting by Andy Serkis & James Franco ... and surely a "must-see" for all "apes" fans. The ending is almost exactly the same as in "Contagion." Maybe the Apes would govern a planet more peacefully than we humans!

My 6 year old son loves monkeys and requested this movie as his birthday present. If you don't already love Apes you will after you watch this movie. My 6 year old son was able to understand the story line so it is a great movie for the family.

I bought this movie because I had never seen it, it was on sale, and included a free ticket to the new Planet of the Apes movie. What a great deal! I enjoyed the movie and am looking forward to seeing the new one. I'm happy to have this one in my DVD collection and really happy to have received such a great deal!

I rarely rate a sequel higher than the original, but this may be one of those times. This movie is much more of an action movie compared to the first in the series, but it still maintains a fairly well designed plot. Great all around film!

This movie is amazing. Another science fiction/adventure movies. It has a great story, great acting, beautiful special effects. I had watched it in theater and wanting to own it.I had also bought King Kong Bluray and anyone who loved that will definitely love this. Movie is awesome on Bluray. Definitely worth a buy!

The story behind Caesar was very interesting and I enjoyed it all the way to the end. Now the not so great is James Franco. I found him boring and unbelievable in his role. They should of got someone better. Other than him it was a great movie.

My absolute favorite of the trilogy now in beautiful 4K! A must own for fans! Picture and sound are top notch. The best this movie has ever looked. Highly recommend!

Great plot, great action! It's not the best movie I have seen, but it still deserves a 5-star review! My only complaint is that it's not available in 3D, but I realize it came out before 3D started getting popular.

I liked the original movies way back when...buying this DVD was a no-brainer considering the price & subject. Andy Serkis & James Franco were great, as were the special effects, costumes/make-up. Scene on the Golden Gate Bridge was spectacular.

My husband and I love this movie, and the entire series. This is a good movie to watch anytime because it's exciting, and dramatic. It's one of those movies we can just pop in and watch anytime.

The first film in what will be a trilogy and it sets the stage for the rest of the films. The special effects are excellent, and you 100% believe in Cesar's reality as a character. The humans are pretty good too. LOL.

I grew up watching Planet of the Apes where all the apes were actors in costumes. I loved the show. This movie is fantastic! The apes are very realistic. I like action-adventure type movies anyway.

I know I like about this movie is that it was the starting point for the trilogy and it really laid out the plot very well. My favorite movie of the three is the third one but this movie was great

I was able to check this out a few month back and I was thinking it wasn't going be good. The Apes movie with Marky Mark was so bad and I assumed. You know what they say about people who assume. Well anyway I really liked the feel of the film and James Franco is slowly becoming a good actor in my eyes.

James Franco is a real funny guy, even in a serious movie like this. His roast on comedy central is hilarious, way better than the one of roseanne. The monkies are pretty cool too. I don't trust monkies at all after watching this movie.

Good, good movie! A great rebirth of the franchise and intro into the movies that will follow. Even if you never saw the originals, this is is a good movie, and if you're familiar with the old franchise then you will get a kick out of some of the easter eggs thrown in to nod at the originals.
