Cool modern take on the series cool to see what happens on earth that started it all.

My fiance is a movie collector and she picked this up cos she wanted me to watch it before we seen sequel in the theatre... I am not a fan of the Planet of the Apes series so I was not looking forward to watching this one. She insisted I would like it so I gave it a shot mainly to appease her. All and all I was very suprised by this movie! It's far from my favourite movie ever, but it was miles better than what I thought it would be. Of course the plot is pretty far-fectched, but as a sci-fi film I thought it was well done. I think the greatest strength of the film is the emotional bond the viewer will inevitably form with the movies protagonist, Caesar. By movies end you will definitely be rooting for this little guy and all the hardships he endured & overcome throughout the film! I have yet to see the sequel, but I will eventually track it down and give it a watch.

I am admittedly jaded when it comes to this movie, as I am such a big fan of the original. In my opinion, this didn't hold a candle to the original. Too many lame references to the original (although not as many as in the Burton disaster), and the CGI was atrocious. Fine for a time-waster, or for a generation that NEEDS to have special effects and CGI in their movies. I bought it because I got enough Movie Money on the package to cover the cost of seeing the sequel in the theater (don't get me started on the 800 lb. orangutans on horseback!).

The movie itself is solid. The good, well-developed protagonists and intelligent themes, outweighs the bad, some awfully cliched, two-dimensional villains and bad effects, resulting in a watchable though far from transcendent film. The blu-ray is gorgeous, though, and the supplements are interesting. Worth the $8 I paid.

An interesting prequel beginner for the POTA franchise. We're shown the how and why it all started and how someday ape would outlive man. It was good to see John Lithgow in a supporting roll! The CGI was a little much at times but it is after all called Science Fiction.

I liked the original PLANET of the Apes movie with Heston & saw the sequels so thought maybe this one would be worth a look. The whole idea is, of course, silly but the 'movie magic' making the apes so real is way improved. Enjoyed it however if another installment comes along I'll probably pass.

of this movie so I'm really not too sure how to properly rate it, but from the portions I have seen, It was a great watch. I enjoyed the original series and am glad the have the latest addition in my film collection.

With this being the 3rd time they've made this film, you tend feel like you've seen it all before. The makeup is obviously much better in this movie than the previous films, but I still favor the original.

Good movie to introduce the classic series to a new generation of viewers. Good use of recognizable locations for people to relate to and special effects are great, believable and not over the top.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes isn't as great as the original but it's a promising start to the iconic film series' new reboot series. I'm looking forward to Dawn of thr Planet of the Apes.

This movie wasn't that great. I guess it was telling how the Planet of the Apes movie franchise got started, but the storyline was a bit slow an not as interesting as I first thought.

Yes this is a reboot of the cult classic Planet of the Apes series. It is a well done reboot setting up much more story to tell in future sequels.

Given that the prior movies had been fairly well scripted and filled with good computer graphics. I was actually expecting more. Overall, kind of a weak plot with poor CG at times.

This movie began as an interesting study of how the Planet of the Apes began, but seemed to drag near the end. Interesting; but not great.

Not a very creative movie. The original was so much better albeit this one naturally has better special effects. Worth the watch.

I thought that the movie was ok. I thought that it would have been better but I did get a great deal on the movie.

A major rewind for Planet of The Apes. Like the direction it is heading. Not a classic - but kept me entertained.

Bought this for my son who told me it was the wrong planet of the apes. He never finished it.

I enjoyed the old Plant of the Apes movies. This is not so good but hard to beat the original in a remake.
