Worked right out of the box

Opened the package, turned it on, it paired with the phone and that was that. Great sound in the car, apparently on the other end as well. I like it so much I'm getting one for the wife's car. The FM thing is a nice touch, although the sound quality isn't spectacular, but I am in a metro area where the frequencies are pretty full. Out in the middle of nowhere it may work just fine, and since this is a bonus feature and not why I bought the unit, I won't take away any style points for it's lackluster performance.

I bought this for my parents as an easy to use hands free device and it works great for their needs. I wouldn't recommend it if you have kids or like private conversations...

    Completely Unreliable

Bought this at Best Buy and since shortly thereafter after it has been completely unreliable. It frequently won't activate even if you try and cycle the power switch. It also will just randomly shut down for no reason and then maybe come on again or maybe not. When it does work and you get an incoming call the first two rings are shockingly loud no matter how low the volume is set.

    STOP MUMBLING!

Stop Mumbling. I heard that a lot when I tested this unit. It set up like a dream. In less than 5 minutes I was up and mumbling away on my cell. The unit is attractive, and offers plenty of goodies, including a way to locate your car once you download the free app, but pretty is as pretty does ..... The sound quality is better through the Moto speaker than through your car stereo, even if its a BOSE system like mine. Understanding callers isn't the issue. What is at issue is that every call I made, whether it was to a land line, VOP, or to another cell, I was told that I sounded garbled or the I sounded as though I were mumbling. Great Idea, terrible product. Sorry guys, this one is a MISS.

    Not compatible with iPhone

I bought this Bluetooth for the sole purpose of the car finder app; only to not be able to download the app because it is only available on Google Play. I did get to use the Bluetooth for a couple days before I returned it and it was ok. I did not like there was only a car charger for the device. To automatically connect with your phone upon entry to your car, you had to leave the device on, obviously. However, it did not seem to keep a charge overnight. You will have to charge up everyday and if you place the device on your visor, its awkward trying to charge. So, if the app is compatible with your phone, this is a good buy for use throughout the day, for travel or sitting in traffic, but not overnight, daily usage.

    Works well, except the battery

The devices works well, pairs quickly, connects to two phones, handles iPhone & Siri nicely ... BUT ... The battery lasts maybe an hour when connected to two phones. On a road trip we need to keep it plugged in all the time. The problem with that is it cannot hang on the sun visor where it wants to be. (I don't appreciate a cord in my face.) A speaker phone laying in the center console is more than awkward. We will experiment with one phone. Kind of sad.

Sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesnt. I can have a full charge and will not connect. I'll turn off and on that will some times restore connection. It is unreliable. Too expensive to work occasionally.

@DrPepper I completely agree that your product should work 100% of the time. With out knowing your handset model it is difficult to troubleshoot. Please reach out to your phone manufacturer to do some additional troubleshooting. MotorolaMobility

Good features, much static when listening to music

I have never had good luck with this type of devices but decided to try the Roadster to see if results would be better. They were not. For instance if the Roadster was communicating to the car stereo at 88.1 even in town it happened a strong signal was being broadcasted through the airwaves right on top of that frequency. When listening to music I heard much more static than I would have liked. Ended up returning the product to Best Buy.

    Not that great

I've owned this for a little over a year. At first it worked great, but after a couple of months it started giving me problems. It wouldn't hold a charge, it wouldn't charge (I'd have to unplug and plug it in multiple times to get it to stay charging#, I'd have to turn it off and on multiple times to get it to even come on. Sometimes it even disconnects from my phone in the middle of a call, or sometimes just when it feels like it. I did figure out that if you turn off the set when you leave the car, the battery lasted a little longer #even though it's supposed to "turn off" when you leave the car#. Now I'm having problems hearing the other person so it's pointless to even use it, even when I do get it to charge. For the $100 we spent for this thing #which is the only reason I haven't thrown it in the garbage yet#, I would have expected better quality.

    Needs An Update

    Posted .

I purchased this unit because I hate driving and holding my phone. I dislike holding my phone and driving in Austin traffic. Unfortunately this wasn't a good fit for me because when I spoke to people over the phone they said I sounded "far away" or that I was in a tunnel. The FM transmitter feature was really a great idea and streaming music over my car stereo was cool but the feature I was underwhelmed with was the fact that I couldn't use it to talk on the phone. One feature I really loved was that when you had an incoming call the speaker told you who was calling by name (ex Jane Smith) and then asked you to say "answer" to pick up. I still think that is a cool feature. I had to take it back because it was very expensive for a speaker that is supposed to make my voice crisp and clear but it did not.

Bought phone for all its features. First day I used it everyone of my customers said it sounds like you are in a tin can with cotton in your mouth. Thought it was very tinny sounding on my end as well. Went back to my Jabra Drive. What good are the other features if it sounds bad.

I bought one for my teenage daughter. It worked well so I bought one for myself. They each started working part time; 3 out of 4, then 2 out of 4, then 1 out of 4 times we'd get in the car, and then after about 5 or 6 weeks they each stopped working completely.

I have had the unit a couple weeks, and it did do a few things well. 1) Easy to set up 2) Sound quality pretty good Unfortunately, the above doesn't make up for the fact the unit just stops working at times and won't turn on. I've checked online and this is not unique as others have had similar problems. I'll be returning the unit.

    Poor Sound and Poor Support

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I really wanted to like this product but it was a total let down. The sound quality over the FM is simply terrible - I have used better FM audio transmitters purchased for $10.00 from market stalls than this unit. I called Motorola tech support, went to level 2 after twenty minutes of unproductive conversation, and they simply refused to give me the technical specification for the FM transmitter, so that I could properly evaluate it. They insisted that the info was proprietary! Even the sound from the speaker is poor - My Galaxy Note speakerphone - while not as loud - has a cleaner sound. Even calls made with this unit are of poor quality and distorted. Why so few people mention the poor audio quality (in fact some praise it!) is puzzling. Perhaps as a musician and sound engineer I have higher expectations - but I would suggest to anyone thinking of buying this product... look elsewhere.

Worked OK as a hands free phone, but that's it

It worked OK as a hands free phone although sometimes you have to turn your phone on and off to get it to connect. The FM mode worked OK while sitting still in the driveway but not well at all driving around. I got static, or lost the signal and had to retune the radio. Even when it was connected the sound quality was not good through the radio. I tried it for 20+ days and then returned it.

I bought the Roadster 2 to have a hands free device for my iPhone and to stream music through my car's speakers. After 4 days use, this unit stopped working. The overall call quality when it did work was fine, and the ability to sync to my iPhone was ok. However, there are other units with built in voice commands and better functionality that do not break after 4 days. Unless you are married to the Android ecosystem, try another model.
