Excellent for Cord Cutters
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a way to cut costs on television show. I was paying too much for Cable. I found a way to get the shows that I want to watch and this is a huge part of the solution. This only records broadcast TV. But between this and streaming services, I have more premium channels that I watch and am paying $60 less a month. And I am not locked into a contract

Onepass is Awesome, User Interface Seems Outdated
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One pass is awesome to set up a recording and it finds all the possible episode of a TV Show whether it's over the air, Netflix, Hulu, etc. User Interface seems 10 years in the past and isn't the easiest to use to set up channels that you get via antenna, but once everything is all set up it's definitely nice to have for free Over the Air TV.

Broke down quickly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up was easy. Worked well initially. Then it did not tape one of the programs that I programmed. Found that live TV did not show any reception from my roof top antenna. Connected that antenna to my old HD tivo which worked well. Unplugged TIVO ota and plugged it in again. Now every thing worked fine for a day. Next day same error occurred again. Unplug and plug in fixed this again. I was now 14 days from purchase. Do not have time to call Tivo and trouble shoot this. Thanks to best buy for hassle free return. I have gone back to using my old HD tivo.

Highly recommend!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Big cost up front but no monthly fees for great dvr service! Love being able to record multiple shows at once. The One Pass is great to be able to set a show by name instead of having to make sure it's programmed for the right day and time and tv is on the right channel.

Skip Mode not as avertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently purchased this unit from Best Buy. Was really looking forward to commercial skip. However, on my first 4 tries, it does not work. Contacted TiVo support and they acknowledged, it doesn't work on all channels. Only a select few right now, but they are working on getting all major networks working, like the ones I tried. It is supposed to work from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am, plus the nightly late shows, but they don't work. They need to remove the advertised Commercial Skip until it does what it is supposed to do as currently advertised. Other than that, the unit works in all other aspects.

Beware of TIVO Programming Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I did not buy my Tivo Roamio OTA from Best Buy, but I do on most electronics I buy, buyers should be forewarned that TIVO has real issues with programming since the company was purchased by ROVI, the programming guide corporation. A recent software update to Tivo programming has created issues with not accepting all channels or networks. Tivo's service to resolve this issue is non-existant. Consumers should shop for other alternative products. IF YOU DO PURCHASE a Tivo, do not pay for a lifetime programming subscription as it is a waste of money. But then, if you don't, you are playing right into Rovi/Tivo's hand since monthly subscriptions are more profitable to the company. Regardless of which way you go, YOU LOSE! I love Best Buy. It would be nice if their company would also put pressure on Rovi/Tivo to resolve this issue.

Didn't meet expectations; go with cable!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought by purchasing this Tivo with a lifetime of service that it would eventually pay for itself, I was wrong! At first, it seemed to work fine, but didn't have all the extra features. I was OK with it because in my mind I would eventually be saving money. I never expected the TIVo equipment not to last. Unfortunately, it seems to be a common problem with this model. My model started making a loud buzzing noise and called to have it replaced since it was under warrant. I waited over three weeks and was disappointed with how long it took to resolve. On top of that they had poor customer service. The reason i give this a 1 out of 5 is because "we cable cutters" do NOT cut the internet. My internet promo started at 24.99 then jumped to 44.95. If I added cable TV to my internet it would come with free HBO and only 39.99 guaranteed for one year! How is that possible? It was cheaper for me to add the cable to the internet then for me to just keep the internet. Moreover, they replace your equipment fast and FREE with no delays! My advice, keep your cable service, but keep switching cable companies every year or so to get the best promo price.

Weak tuner, and does not record reliably
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The main reason I got this was to record OTA shows. First problem is that the on-board tuner on this unit is garbage and does not pick up as many channels as the tuner in my Sony TV on the exact same Mohu Leaf antenna. So, I get fewer channels that actually show a decent picture. The program guide just shows all available channels for my zip code, not the channels that have actually been picked up by the weak onboard tuner. So unless I tune to a particular channel I never know if it works. Second main problem is that on most local channels, the Season pass recording does not work at all, even if I delete and reset everything multiple times as directed on the Tivo support forums. It cannot even record Jeopardy daily on ABC, even though the signal is strong and clear. I have to manually set individual shows to record that works fine. I am returning this unit for a refund now.

Doesn't recognize my ZIP code
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After two nights of guided setup, I have given up. It doesn't recognize any ZIP code I type in, and just keeps cycling through guided setup. Just Google tivo roamio stuck zip code You'll see how a once great company has fallen apart.

Poor quality design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HDMI gets confused when switching from computer connection to TIVO connection. Occasionally had to reboot to get to work. After 2 months box stopped powering on altogether.

Frustrating!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never got machine to complete setup process. Cycled through initial set of setup questions for hours. Called tech support twice. The first time I was told I needed to hook TiVo to wireless router through Ethernet cable even though it says in the setup instructions it can be done wireless. The second time was told to unplug machine and plug back in. When that didn't work I was told I needed to exchange machine. Really? This is tech support? Going back to my channel master dvr which although basic works just fine. Very disappointed with TiVo.

Change in Support Buyer Beware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading current reviews and noticing my TV turns itself off randomly. Called service. New provider? Not like the old excellent service. Knew of system issue but knew also that many customers calling in and given response that was vague "known system error, no fix in sight". Went from great product to mediocre since change in service support. Can't recommend at all now.

Does not work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received the Tivo Roamio yesterday. Excited to get it and hook up to my antenna to finally cut the cord with Directv. Very disappointed when it would not activate. Did the online activation. No luck. Called Tivo customer service told "oh yeah we are having "issues" in your area" probably take 3-4 days to resolve". The on screen graphics look low quality. I am sending it back, as I can only imagine having problems with this for "3 or 4 days" at a stretch when it breaks down. No thanks I will stick with Directv. It's expensive but it works and is reliable unlike Tivo apparently.
