Like to have the various formats so I can watch/show video on both VCR/DVD Blue Ray as well as import digital copy into itunes to play on ipod. I loved this movie and found it had all aspects of a good movie. Laughter, and drama. Liked the story, which added to usual story about Robin Hood. Actors were very good, and i enjoyed the entire movie. Nice adventure for me, although my husband didn't like it, I found it " Very entertaining"...Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett did bold fighting scenes... Nice climax to movie

The movie starts out really good and somewhat fast, then dies down and is really fast paced at the end. long movie, but i liked it more the 2nd time i watched it. not something you want to watch if you are tired, will put you to sleep!! other then that, the acting was great and the story line was too. if you dont like robinhood, i dont recommend you watch this movie, otherwise, i think its a really great robinhood. and of course russell crowe was really hot and excellent in this film like always!!! i would recommend the directors cut if you can get it, the deleted scenes do help out and make for a better movie!!

Not worth buying. It's average at best, not epic.

As far as blu-ray transfers go, this movie is stock. I'm not writing about the quality of the blu-ray though. I'm just giving my opinion of the movie. Ridley Scott as we all know cannot make a movie in under 2 and a half hours. I'm not complaining about his previous movies like Black Hawk Down, Gladiator, or Kingdom Of Heaven; I love all of those. However, this film utilized confusing character development and just wasn't paramount in his directing career or Russel Crowe's for that matter. Robin Longstride's painful past was briefly run through and I just didn't care much about him or his path in the story. Russel Crowe had his witty moments but nothing of the caliber that his previous performances have delivered. He didn't have the epic persona of Maximus, William Wallace, or Leonidas. For an outlaw that did a lot of damage, it just seemed like it came easy for him. We all felt for Maximus, when his family was murdered by the terrible usurper to the throne of Rome. We feared and felt the suspense of the men trapped in Mogadishu. We felt the ferocity of the 300 spartans battling the massive Persian army. In the end I was scratching my head as Robin Hood just seemed to have the usual format for productions of this size with little originality. Format: beginning battle, some drama, battle, travel, battle, travel, suspense, battle, drama, and battle some more. The battles were well done, with brutal scenes of arrows piercing soldier's faces and fire scorching them to the ground, which is always a cathartic experience for us action fans, but that was about it. It seems like Ridley was on autopilot for this one. I don't recommend buying it, wish I would've rented it.

I know most people did not enjoy this movie as much as i did, and i will also agree that the title is misleading in a sense this movie is not about Robin Hood as much is it about how he becomes Robin Hood. i thought the acting was top notch and the cinematography was excellent. i recommend this movie to anyone that has an interest in what motivated the man that became Robin Hood, to become him.

    Pleasantly Surprised

My husband bought this movie and I really didn't even want to see it. Seeing Robin Hood with Kevin Cosner so many years ago was enough for me. Also, I still see Russell Crowe as Maximus, no matter what he is in.However, once I had watched 30 minutes of it, I was hook and was looking forward to seeing what would happen next. I didn't even get the Maximus vibe from Russell Crowe. It was long and Cate Blanchett, while well acted was not a convincing Maid Marian. Still its worth a look.

When you watch this movie throw out everything you know about Robin Hood. When I first watched this movie I went into it with all I know about Robin Hood and my mind and I was disappointed in the movie. But, I watched it a second time, and I must say it was a good movie. It's nice to know how Robin Hood became Robin Hood, it's something I have always been interested in, and finally my questions were answered.

After watching all the other Robin Hood movies. They finally tell how Robin beacme the outlaw that we all know. Watching this version of Robin Hood has made me watch all the other Roin Hoods to Pick up where Russell Crowe's Robin leads into Kevin Costner's Robin picks up and to top of Robin Hood watch Mel Brook's Robin Hood Men in Tights. Oh that Robin.

I loved the new story and how it is more in tune with actual historical events. My kids all complained there were not enough battle scenes but I thought it was awesome. I definately recommend the director's cut since it gives you some more information as to how certain scenes play into other scenes. The theatrical version leaves you with some questions.

I always loved the Kevin Costner version of Robin Hood from the nineties and this one is just as legit and good. Its a different take on the original story. The costumes and story are great and well written. Russel Crow is great as 'Robin Hood'(who he really isn't but I won't say anything more,i don't wanna give away any spoilers).

Since I was a child, I watched several version of the Robin-hood. I felt this is the closest one to the original Robin-Hood. It got my son attention which he has never seen the original Robin-Hood. I purchase it because I watch the movie over and over again. I also while in my travels I can watch it from my laptop which is a great feature.

Good movie, but not necessary for Blu-Ray.

With all the dark shots and dialog that supersedes the action sequences, I'd say this movie is definitely worth getting on DVD, but the Blu-Ray is unnecessary for this type of movie.
