It’s very mpressive, but without the transforming feature, I would not recommend. He has some fun voice commands and app functions. But I personally wouldn’t keep a high priced Transformer that doesn’t transform

Now it's time for BumbleBee to walk out. Like the Optimus prime Robosen G1, this is fully capable walking and moving robot. It comes in nice packaging giving it a great presentation when unboxing. There isn’t much to set up. Just BumbleBee and a gun accessory. Over the Optimus Prime ,the charging cable a universal USB-C cable now. Just charge him up and your ready to go. BumbleBee does everything but transform. The feet compared to the height are better and it’s more stable than Optimus Prime. Besides voice commands it also has a phone/tablet controller. It has it’s own app separate from other Robosen products. The BumbleBee App can also control Optimus Prime in a joint preprogrammed mode. Just connected both robots through Bluetooth and you’re set for dual action. The unit looks nice and reflects the G1 BumbleeBee yellow Bug.
BumbleBeee is smaller and doesn’t transform, so, the feet are larger compared to the height. This gives it better stability and control. You can change the walking pace, and it can get up after falling down quite well. Make sure the gun isn’t in its hand, and it got up every single time, it may take more than one try. It turns better in walking mode and can kicks better compared to the Optimus Prime unit. BumbleBee can be used through the app or through voice commands. “Hey BumbleBee” preps the unit for voice commands. From walking to speaking, or posing, the unit had no problems executing whether in voice or remote-control mode. Same as the Optimus Prime unit, you get a remote on the app, and access to various moves. You can also download new moves to do. You can use preprogrammed sequences or make them yourself. The BumbleBee app can also control the Optimus Prime unit at the same time only for scenes together. Together they reenact scenes from the series. The sync was good between them, the only issue for me was figuring out how to place them so the movements looked good together. The scenes were just under two minutes each. The headlights in the feet and the eyes light up.
BumbleBee is as fun as Optimus Prime. You give up transforming, but you have more stable robot that can do more in robot mode. The scenes with the two units together is entertaining. The voice commands and remote all worked seamlessly and make using BumbleBee easy. Robosen keeps making a great product.

Remarkable Interactive Toy

I grew up watching and loving Transformers so when I saw this was available, I jumped on it. It’s a remarkable ‘toy’ that is highly interactive with its user. It comes preprogrammed with some really fun commands like ‘attack,’ ‘dance,’ and ‘pose.’ Each action includes some fun voice sayings from Bumblebee, too.
Getting started is very easy. There is no assembly required other than unwrapping Bumblebee and his charging cable and power brick. I did have to charge the robot before starting to use him but out of the box, he is ready to interact with even though you can spend time programming your own commands with the app.
I had some trouble getting Bumblebee to turn on the first time, but that was more user-error than a problem with the robot. I found that if I held the button in for 3+ seconds, Bumblebee would come to life. He connected to the app seamlessly and I didn’t have any issue with connection or the app and robot communicating with one another.
I tried several of the commands and was impressed with how fluid the robot moved. He’s very smooth and fluid. He was actually so lifelike that our dog started barking at him. The big complaint I have about this particular robot model is that he doesn’t transform. Some of the other models do. I would also like it if there was an easy tutorial for custom programs. If there is, I didn’t find it easily.
Overall, this is a great device for any Transformer fan to own. I’ve already had tons of fun with it.
Pros:
You can use him with or without the app.
He understands voice commands easily as long as he isn’t in the middle of a response.
His movements are fluid.
Cons:
He doesn’t transform. Other Robosen Transformers do.
I had trouble getting him to turn on. There is a power button, but there weren’t any directions on how to use it for powering him on.
Custom programming is very time-consuming and there isn’t a walk-through tutorial on a simple command to program.

Robotic Fun for Bumblebee Fans

Just gotta say it - this Robosen Bumblebee robot "toy" brings out the geeky kid in me! And while it is a bit 'pricey,' this type of tech is going to be. So, maybe not a toy for younger children.
Even Bumblebee's packaging was awesome! It was akin to opening up a gift on Christmas morning. I'll definitely be keeping/saving the box.
There is a specific Robosen Performance Bumblebee app you will need to install on your mobile device in order to use this robot. The included Quick Start Guide explains some of the basics on how to get Bumblebee connected.
The app is simple enough to navigate, but it takes some trial and error customizing the movement options. There are several pre-programmed voice commands and responses, with more you can access via the Action Download Center. The Remote Control tool is fun to play around with. And the MiniTheater feature is pretty cool. It's super fun to watch Bumblebee enact a short action scene. Just like in the Transformers movies!
There are two Program Modes - Block Based and Manual. Both have their pros and cons. It definitely takes time to figure out what works and what doesn't, but there are detailed instuctional videos you can watch which explains what to do.
Once you create a routine, you can go back to the saved 'file' found in the Action Download Center under My Movements, and record a video of Bumblebee going "through the motions" you programmed for him to act out. The video can be saved to your mobile device for you to share.
You can assign a music selection to go along with the routine you've created, but as far as I can tell, you can assign only one which is somewhat disappointing, cause it would be cool to have different phrases/music paired with different poses or separate actions.
The robot's "laser gun" has an on/off switch, and is powered by a small 'watch sized' replaceable battery. So it does not recharge with the robot itself.
Bumblebee is a fun, interactive, robot that feeds into my Transformers nostalgia, both for myself, and for when my kids were younger.
This Robosen Performance Bumblebee G1 Edition robot is, to me, a fine example of where this type of technology is headed in the future. And as with other innovative tech, the cost will usually decrease given time so that more people can enjoy.

Your own personal Bumblebee. Absolutely amazing what this robot can do. Control Bumblebee through numerous voice commands, or connect to the app for full control. Through the app, you can make Bumblebee move, do preset actions, or program your own actions! The programming is very time consuming, you could spend hours and hours doing it, but it's pretty awesome to be able to program a robot to do what you want. Have the Robosen Optimus Prime as well? There is even functionality in the app to do a "Mini-Theatre" where both are connected and play out a little scene together. I love that it charges through USB-C (the Optimus uses a AC/DC charger) as I have numerous USB-C cords lying around and don't have to keep track of a specific charger.
However, I only gave it 4 stars because of one big omission, Bumblebee doesn't transform. My favorite thing to do with the Optimus Prime is to transform him from robot to truck with a voice command. Out of the box, it took me a little bit to actually figure out that Bumblebee doesn't transform. I mean, they are called Transformers for a reason!
Overall, Bumblebee is really fun to play with and a great addition to the Robosen Transformer universe, but the lack of ability to transform is a huge disappointment.

The future of toys looks incredible with this tech

If the Robosen Transformer Bumble Bee is what the future of toys looks like, I’m thrilled beyond belief. I grew up playing with the original Transformers as a child and the nostalgia of bringing these toys to life makes it exponentially more incredible. After seeing the videos of what the Robosen Bumble Bee could do, I was excited to get my hands on it and hopefully my children’s eyes will light up as mine did back in the 80s so, selfishly, I could try to live vicariously through them for a moment. Well, maybe that’s going a little too far but it’s always fun to introduce them to something new and just witness their excitement.
After unpacking and initially charging Bumble Bee, I was eagerly waiting to take him for a test drive on my smart phone app. Once he was turned on and synced to the app, the first thing I did was run it through all the pre-downloaded movements and sounds which were impressive to say the least. After that, I went to the download center on the app and downloaded all the other movements. All of the movement/sound options were very fire, as the kids now a days say apparently. Because my little ones had friends over for a play date, I surprised them all with Bumble Bee as they looked in amazement and gathered around to enjoy the experience. They were super excited to learn he had voice commands and continuously instructed him to dance, open fire, look out, etc. Perhaps one of the coolest features is the mini theater mode where Bumble Bee performs some of his plot lines from the show and you are able to sync his movements with the Robosen Optimus Prime robot which I now think I’ll need to get eventually. I am always surprised when something can hold kid’s attention spans for more than five minutes. I had resistance from them after trying to remove him from their abuse after giving him commands for a half hour and making him fall and get back up on his own which was their favorite thing to do. Even with the recommended age for the user being 8+, I had a blast playing with it while entertaining 4-7 year olds. For the more mature folks that want to get into the more advanced features, you use the app to customize your own movements and save them for later use.
According to their website, Robosen made all of this toy “magic” possible by piling a plethora of technology into Bumble Bee including 45 for their custom engineered microchips, 17 high precision servo motors and an upgraded adaptive gait algorithm. It is able to respond to 20 voice commands and the app and robot come with 69 original Transformer G1 animation sound bytes. There are several lights on Bumble Bee as well including his eyes, headlights on his feet and the removable gun. The movement features Bumble Bee can perform, including standing back up after falling and standing on one leg to perform high single leg kicks, are also made possible with it’s 6-axis IMU that detects what position he is in.
All of this technology is incredible to see discretely packed in the form of a small toy which by first appearance looks like your average toy until it comes to life. I can’t wait to see what else they have in store… hopefully eventually being able to actually transform into its car form and shoot projectiles.

Incredible capabilities with an easier entry

This Bumblebee robot is an incredible piece of technology that will surely impress any that have the opportunity to experiment with it. Much like the Optimus Prime robot that Robosen previously released, Bumblebee has tons of features packed into its small package. If you were wanting to play and experiment with one of Robosen's robots, but wanted a cheaper entry point, Bumblebee is a great option. The main sacrifice here is that he doesn't transform. While not quite as impressive as Optimus, it's a much more cost friendly entry point for a collector, or enthusiast that wants to relive their childhood with an authentically modeled and moving G1 Bumblebee.
One noticeable advantage over the Optimus robot though would have to be Bumblebee's movement. It seems faster and more fluid than Optimus. He's also capable of some impressive poses that you wouldn't think possible. Bending backwards to do a Matrix-like bullet dodge, standing on one leg, or even kicking. It's very impressive. Also impressive, the updated walk speed options available. You're given two speeds, and seeing Bumblebee move at the faster speed is very cool. All that movement capability is all the more impressive when you take into account the ability to create your own poses and animations. This can be a great introduction to programming for kids or adults, since you learn the basics through block-based programming. This is essentially grabbing a block to tell the robot to move the arm 30 degrees, then another block to rotate the head, etc. The app guides you to creating your own poses this way. An alternate method of creating poses, is by just physically moving the robot's parts and basically setting a keyframe. This is a fast and easy way to create limitless animations. Speaking of which, the app works well and is very easy to use.
As an owner of an Optimus robot as well, I do wish both were controlled from the same app. However, the Bumblebee app does include a great feature to all Optimus and Bumblebee interact. They refer to it as "Theater" mode. They are seemingly set strings of animations that both Bumblebee and Optimus will perform together. They look and sound great together. I hope that Robosen continues to add more of these in the future. Creating my own would also be a great addition.
Overall, this is an excellent addition to any Transformer collector, or robot enthusiast. Transformer fans are sure to enjoy the excellent G1 reproduction of Bumblebee.
Pros: Excellent control, incredible upgraded movement options and speed, great app and control, accurate and detailed G1 design
Cons: Not able to transform, would be nice if it was a single app for both Optimus and Bumblebee

Definitely one of the coolest toys out there.I would give this five stars, but the app could use some work. The theatre mode for this doesn't work when paired with The Elite Optimus (even though it will pair). That was the main reason why I bought this. Although this is no longer available from Best Buy I would still recommend buying this from Robosen, but not for $399. Wait for a sale that brings it to $299 or lower

Amazing movements, sound and programming ability. Some of the built in moves unfortunately are unable to be executed without him falling which is disappointing for such an expensive item. We knew Bee didn't transform like Prime although he is a Transformer, but this of course would have been great given the name and concept of the product. There was a pre-programmed move to explain this that was humorous.

Immediately, I knew Bumble Bee was going to be awesome when the UPS delivery driver handed it to me and made the comment that this was the coolest thing he was delivering all day! It comes boxed with images on the exterior packaging! It was packaged very cleanly, it came in a huge foam box which is also a great storage case. Everything was packed in nicely and it was very organized. It came with 2 instruction books on the front of the box and a power charger which happens to be USB-C which is different from Robosen’s Optimus Prime which was a micro connection. No biggie but just need to manage more cables. It also required another app be downloaded separately, so if you have several Robosen transformers be aware you will need multiple apps. Connecting to the app was easy and the app came with its own actions to make your robot do a handful of preloaded movements. It also has a section where you can code your own actions that are not preloaded so you can be as creative as you want which gives you unlimited ways to engage and pose with Bumble Bee. The app is a little buggy and I experienced what seems like freezing when trying to explore some of the preloaded movements from within the app library. We added Bumble Bee to our collection because it syncs with Optimus Prime in a new theatre mode. One observation is It does not transform like Optimus Prime. But it is way more life-like because it can balance doing a high kick which Optimist Prime can’t. Bumblebee walks more lifelike in comparison to Optimus and his speaker is significantly louder than Optimus’s. You have multiple ways to interact with Bumble Bee, bluetooth connection via the Robosen app or you can communicate with him in a mode that allows you to use voice commands to make him do certain actions. One improvement from Optimus Prime is that Bumble Bee can stand up on its own when it is powered on and off. It is super easy to turn on, you just have to hold a button located behind his head. One challenge when powering on Bumble Bee is that he introduces himself and does a few actions which will require a hard, flat surface for him to maintain his balance and essentially remain upright. In Robosen’s new theater mode you can sync together Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee to interact with each other and defend against the Decepticons. This is hands down the best part of interacting with these toys. Bumble Bee comes with an accessory for the play which has a light on the end to maximize any actions. Certain actions it tells you to take the accessory out of his hand for that action, be sure you double check the accessory indicator in the app. You can also download more actions, some examples are mountain climbers or a battle scene. Like other Robosen “toys”,they are geared towards an audience who can appreciate robotics. The build quality is top notch and Robosen has again successfully imagined a super lifelike throwback to my childhood watching Transformers! Bumble Bee is one of the more recognized Autobots and this robot brings him to life! This will bring me and my two sons hours and hours of fun and excitement.

Capable But For What?

The Bumblebee robot by Robosen is interesting and novel to start off. It surprisingly feels well built and not cheap. It seems like there's a lot of uses since there's some program-ability but it's hard to execute. There are two methods, one is a drag and drop block structures and the other is a manual posable snap shot. The block method is a little more advanced and robust but very clunky to try to operate on a phone. Maybe a big tablet would give you the space to work with it better. The more intuitive method is the manual pose where you put the robot in the configuration you want then sync and set the fame. This is more like stop motion and the app decides how to move the robot in between frames. However the difficulty here is getting the robot to make the movements without losing balance. There are some joint locks on the app to make it so that joints that you aren't moving provide stability else the robot kind of slumps onto itself. Some how-to videos would help out here a lot.
Another avenue to keep things fresh is there's downloadable actions that seem to get updated here and there. An impressive one was mountain climbers. Bumblebee will drop down to plank and do mountain climber exercises then stand back up. There are many movement options with all the servos. After you go through all the actions a couple times they start to lose their pizzazz. You also have to execute most of them in the app. The voice commands are very limited and not very intuitive. I wish all the actions had voice equivalents so that you're not always having to load up the app.
The ability of this robot to do pre-programmed actions that have him arch his back, lay down and get back up, and balance on one foot is very impressive. I have yet to be successful in programming my own actions to mimic that. Robosen claims the robot will get back up on its own if it falls but that never happened for me. You need to be on a flat hard surface for the robot to not topple though. A counter top works but I find it struggles on slick surfaces sometimes. A cloth table top seems to give it enough traction and stability to move without wandering or toppling over. The remote control mode benefited from this as the robot kind of shuffles it's feet when turning.
For me the novelty quickly wore off. Where I struggled with this robot is I couldn't really tell if it was supposed to be a toy you play with like a child, a gateway into robotics, or a novelty shelf display. It didn't do a good job of satisfying any of those buckets. Some updates to the app might help since the robot is very capable. I'm worried about durability as a toy and how many drops it can really handle though. It would of been really cool if it transformed.

If You Thought Optimus Was Cool, Bumblebee ROCKS!!

Just WOW!! I had to get Bumblebee to compliment my Optimus Prime and let me tell you…Robosen blew it out of the water!
The packaging is super premium, you can feel the quality throughout and it screams luxury goods. Once you get Bumblebee out just the feel (of the robot) alone is amazing. Rich yellows, top tier paint and authentic G1 style, nostalgic.
Speaking of being generation 1 every detail of robot and bot form are true to the specs. Bee has his signature horns and true Volkswagen Beetle shape, his eyes light up that soft blue color and even the headlights works (both robot and car mode)!!!
I could gush all day about just the looks alone but let’s talk about the reason you get this, the ability to fully customize what he does and what he says. The app is straightforward and syncing Bee to it takes no time at all.
The pose combinations are endless and it even had gait adaptation…it can walk with you!! Comes preprogrammed with 69 G1 sound bites and my personal favorite is the theater mode.
That’s right, put Optimus and Bee into this mode and They will interact with each other and put on an entire show for you, complete with dialogue and action sequences, it really does make you think you’re right in the middle of the war with the Decepticons!!
We actually ate dinner one night while the bots entertained us…freaking awesome!! Can’t recommend this enough!!

I am/was a huge Transformers buff, particularly the 80's era of the franchise. This robot has brought me back to my childhood, while gleefully introducing my children to the franchise.
Listening to the original voice from the 80's, I can't help but smile. The retro look is aesthetically pleasing and the build is sturdy. Letting my 2 year old fidget a bit doesn't give me a single worry.
Ok, once powered up, the fun begins. Lots of actions and autonomous movement controlled by responsive voice commands that are pre programmed into the robot. The points of articulation are well thought out and I'm amazed at how well this moves about. A cool feature that we vicariously found out was the robot is self correcting. My kids accidentally knocked it over and before I could stand him up, he did it on his own!
Watching the motions and details alone justify hanging on to Bumble Bee, but the cherry on top is the manual controls. Using my phone/tablet as a remote and chasing my kids around is another point of joy with this Robot.
Lots of thought went into the functionality and execution of this robot, and I'm having a blast discovering all the intricacies.
One note, has to be mentioned, this model does not transform. Does not affect my fun, just noting what others may not find obvious.
