ROCCAT Elo X Wired PC Gaming Headset Cross-Platform Stereo Gaming Headset is one of three headsets released by Roccat which is now affiliate of Turtle Beach. It seems now that Roccat is focused PCs whereas the Turtle Beach is now focused on gaming consoles. That said, lets focused on the headphones itself. First, this gaming headphone unit is analog wherein it has a 3.5mm jack for laptops and an adapter for desktop. Being analog don’t expect a USB adaptor to be included. Do note that that the cord from the headphone itself is only four feet long which is suited for laptops but not for desktops. But unlike most desktop adapters which are mostly six inches long, the included adaptor is three feet long making the total length to be seven feet long which is suitable if your desktop is tucked under or inside your computer cable. Also this length enables you to connect the headphones to the back of your PC which some would argue has better sound quality. Build quality seems sturdy enough with a metal band on top. Clamping on your head is not tight nut still rather secure. What is rather unique in this design is that it has a memory foam bungy style secondary headband. This enables you to just put the headphones without any adjustments to the headband at all. Also the earcuffs have a slight indent to themselves which makes this headphones eyeglass friendly as it does not squeeze your glasses too tight. The headphones has a removable boom mic which may not please all users as some prefer a movable mic. The volume and mic mute button are located on the left side which is my personal preference since I do not like those bulky controls on the cable. Audio quality seems to be at par with other gaming headsets at this price range. I have noticed though that there seems to be a need to burn-in the headset speakers for improved audio. Using the headset for results to a mediocre performance like most gaming headsets that I have tried. But then again you really won’t buy a gaming headset for music. I have also used this headset for Zoom and Skype calls and I am pretty impressed with the call quality. Audio was very crisp and the mic has a very good response. I’d pretty much recommend this headset more for comfort especially for long gaming sessions as it’s very comfortable in spite of average but decent audio.

Multiple connection issues (Not sure if it’s because I had a PS5 controller) but it would never connect into the controller properly and all I ever heard was static. Returned and exchanged.

    Outperformed My Expectations

I have tested and or owned so many headsets that I had a good idea on how these would perform while testing. However, The ROCCAT ELO X by Turtle Beach surprised me and surpass my lowered expectation for a gaming headset in this price point. The sound quality was awesome on PC, XBOX, and my Android phone. The cord is a standard 3.5mm TRRS 4 Pin but does come with a splitter that I did not need to use. Tip... When using a standard 3.5mm and not USB headphone setup with a PC that has a 4 pin only, you might need to look up some videos on how to get the mic to work but rest easy it will work after you tweak some settings on your PC or even in game. I will say that I did add an extender I just happen to have laying around. Because the factory cord is quite short with respect to my personal setup and really probably yours too, at just around 48" inches long. But I did find the length to be fine when plugged into a gaming controller (XBOX). It does feel like they put more thought into sound and voice quality than actual build quality, but I am OK with this aspect. Again, the sound is perfect allowing the user to hear even the faintest sounds. With noticeably clear coms. I tested a few voice recordings on my PC then also had my online friends give feedback and all reviews were positive. The build is subpar with cheaper materials but overall feel great and offer a lightweight user experience. I have been extremely impressed with these, I use them daily, and would recommend to anyone even above several higher priced sets on the market.

    Comfortable, Versatile and Nice Sound

Brilliant design for headphones. These sound great and check all the boxes. The mic is removeable, they are usable on Xbox, PS4, laptop and desktop, and they are very comfortable. The included PC splitter is needed to work with desktops that have a separate mic and headphone audio jacks. I tried all configurations and phones worked nicely. The mic has noise cancelling which ensures clear commands, the designers get five stars for figuring out the technology to do this without losing crispness. I wear glasses and the oversized earpads are very well cushioned so that I had no pain from wearing the headphones for over 2 hours. These ROCCAT headphones actually use memory foam in the pads. The mic doesn’t mute like some where you can lift it up to mute; but instead there is a very easy to reach mic mute button on the left ear side and I found this very simple and effective. The volume control is also on the left pad. The headset is wired so Bluetooth is not needed which makes connectivity very secure. The design for the self-adjusting headband is very clever. You simply put these phones on and just the exact right amount of tension is created to push up the ‘inner band’; give the designers a tip of the cap for this well-designed feature. This will become one of your favorite headphones, I do highly recommend this device.

Hi Alex, we are sorry that your Elo X Stereo is starting to produce static audio. In order to check if the issue is actually the headset itself, we usually advice to connect it to a different device, ideally a smartphone, and see if the issue persists.
Since issues like this are generally covered by warranty, please get in touch with our customer support which you can find on our official website so we can initiate an exchange should the issue be indeed the headset itself. ROCCATSupport

Hi Stephanie, thank you for choosing ROCCAT. We are sorry you are experiencing an issue with your new headset. If there is an echo, please make sure that the issue is not produced by any voice optimizing options from a third party software such as a communication tool. To check if the device itself is causing the problem, we advise disabling all such options in the software you are experiencing the issue in. If the problem persists, please reach out to our customer support using the contact form on our official website. We'll be glad to assist you in getting the issue solved. ROCCATSupport

Worst headphones ever. Purchased to use with my son’s gaming console. Audio quality was extremely poor. Compared to previous headphones, these altered the sound and sounded extremely muffled. The best part of this purchase was the BestBuy customer service when I returned them.

This isn't the fanciest headset, but it gets the job done without extra features that you don't need. It's stripped down to basics- a comfortable headset, nice detachable mic, and really good sound. These are extremely easy to use across platforms because the come with a standard (or use to be standard!) Plug, so no worries about dongles or platform compatibility. The buttons are very tactile and give good feedback. The volume dial and mute keys are easy to access. The sound is better than you would expect at this price. Not high-end, but definitely adequate for most users. If you're just getting into gaming or you're a casual gamer who doesn't want to drop $200 for a headset, this is a great set to get you started.

If you didn't know, ROCCAT is a subsidiary of Turtle Beach, who is known for the quality of their headsets and sound. I've tested a lot of headsets. This sound quality from these is absolutely first rate, but they seem to be made for a head smaller than mine. They're a bit tight on my head and make my ears sweat. If I could ignore that, I'd have to say that these are my favorite headphones that I have used! The range is exceptional. Highs are crisp, bass is nice and deep and it just sounds fantastic! Definitely try a pair on before buying, just to be sure that they aren't going to be too tight. My head really isn't that big!

The sound I absolutely can’t complain. The feel of the headset isn’t bulky. Almost ergonomic all while still keeping that sleek header design. They absolutely block out the sound so immersing yourself in the game isn’t difficult or abruptly interrupted by the sound of your pizza bagel bites being ready in the microwave. You can wear these for hours so trust me, take it from someone that plays mmorpgs 8-10 hours a day and has to be in a team chat. You get your money’s worth.

This unit was very easy to setup on my PC. All you have to do is connect the extension and plug the extension into the mic and input jacks. For an Xbox, you just plug directly into the controller. The mic is removal and the sound is really good. Volume is east to access and it is light weight yet feels very sturdy. I wish the cord was little longer, but it works well if you work close to your computer.

Im enjoying the bass on these. The drivers are very responsive to bass and immerse you into your game very well which is the effect you're looking for in a gaming headset. The mic is clear according to the other person I'm talking to and they have no trouble hearing me. The cable length is adequate and I never found myself feeling restrained by the length.
