A truly great keyboard with great lighting!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ROCCAT keyboard is a sight to behold, with a premium build quality, bright RGB lighting, and an intuitive app (SWARM) that can be used to customize the various features. The top of the keyboard has a machined like finish, in a darker metallic gray look, with a turn dial for volume control, and simple push button for mute. This makes it easy to control volume on the fly, with minimal need to look down to figure out where it is. The keys are also backlit very well, with brightness controlled either through the function key on the keyboard or using the SWARM app provided by ROCCAT (you will need to download it from their site). On the underside, you will find the small raiser feet to lift the keyboard at an upward angle. In the box you will find the keyboard, a USB C to A cable, and the guide/warranty cards. Plugging in the keyboard into the PC, and it is immediately recognized, with LED’s lighting up in a flow pattern. Installing the app gives you additional functionality, such as setting individual profiles, enabling macro’s for use in specific games, or creating your own. The SWARM software even allows to individual key assignments to be changed, or for tying a macro to a key press. The customization options are so numerous, it is difficult to include all of them, but suffice it to say you can make the keyboard do almost anything with ease. There is even a way to enable “Sound Feedback,” which is not something I’ve seen with other customizable keyboard software. You can enable click, typewriter, beam, and a sci-fi setting. All of which provide an audible sound played over your speakers while typing. While this feature isn’t required, it makes typing fun; I’m actually using the keyboard in “typewriter” sound mode as I type this. You can even adjust the volume so it’s not too loud when you turn the audio up on your normal listening. It should be noted that the keyboard sounds will not work for any keyboard (at least in my testing) except the ROCCAT Vulcan line of keyboards, or those supported by the app. The keys themselves have a satisfying type noise on their own but aren’t so loud that they’ll disrupt those around you. While this does lack a “10 key,” I don’t imagine many purchasing this for accounting or calculating purposes. They illumination settings in the SWARM app provide 7 pre-set lighting options; including: Wave, Snake, Fully Lit, heartbeat, breathing, fade, and a ripple setting. All of these provide a nice lighting display and are great for most users. There is even a way to add your own custom themes, where you can set lighting for different keys, and even some “Zones” like the “WSD” keys into a specific effect; in this case, heartbeat, fully lit, or breathing. You can also select individual keys with multiple being selected by holding the “CTRL” key on the displayed keyboard, and custom colors selected from either the presets, or using the color wheel. This can be done for every single key on the keyboard, except for the turn dial used for volume control (mute button can be). This keyboard, however, has a neat feature called “AIMO” which uses some sort of intelligence to create a “state-of-the-art” lighting display. It presents like a fluid press, with a natural ripple taking place near the keys being pressed. For instance, while playing a game that uses the WSD keys for movement, you will notice those keys being lit up in a fluid flow and growing outward to the keys surrounding the area. The natural breathing like flow is unique among other lighting settings but is predictable when pressing keys while playing. You will notice various shades of colors take place as you type or press keys in games. While I am not sure I understand the scenarios, I found that the keyboard began responding to the predictable presses I was making in games, with lighting flowing around the keys I pressed the most. I cannot begin to describe just how great this lighting system feature is, as I prefer it now to any other settings on my keyboard. It’s not your normal blinking or breathing effect and is a nice change in lighting on a gaming keyboard. The AIMO feature is also compatible with other ROCCAT products, and all act in a unified way, which makes online streaming fun! Overall, I cannot express enough how great this keyboard is. There are plenty of features shared across all keyboards, but the ROCCAT Vulcan stands out among every keyboard I have ever owned. The customization features alone make this a great recommendation, and the AIMO lighting system surpassed any expectation I had when using it. I can honestly say, this is now my favorite gaming keyboard.

As therapeutic as it a technical masterpiece
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve seen Roccat products used by streamers and at Best Buy stores in the PC Gaming section, but until very recently, I have stuck to mainstream brands on the market for years. What a refreshing change this Vulcan TLK keyboard is! The spacing on each key allows for the most precise keystrokes my fingertips have had the pleasure of striking. The key caps are square, but concave in the middle to the perfect degree. What I find & mention as therapeutic, and never considered as a lifetime gamer, is how little effort and distance you need to press the keys for them to register. Its a total game changer that I don’t think I will revert from. It's actually helping to relieve soreness at the base of my middle finger (left hand) from pressing/holding the “W” key a few million times over the last 20 years because so little effort and quick response. Lightning quick! While you can totally plug & play this with any computer out the box ASAP; downloading the Roccat Swarm software to manage profiles, lighting, firmware updates is a must. The technical design and features of the software accentuate an already beautifully illuminated, and keyboard layout for a gaming setup. Really nice software again and expect an update that requires you to unplug/replug for a moment for the firmware to take. On the note of plug, while the cord is not braided, it feels sturdy, and plugs in the keyboard via USB C. I love that. There is a “sound feedback” option that is really neat where you can make the keyboard click or sound like an old fashioned typewriter (though speakers or headphones)...it just has so many neat features and functions. Infinite light combinations with some cool AIMO intelligent lighting that I have to say is pretty smart. I usually have a solid color, but this is working really well w/ my Alienware rig and the random flowing colors just mesmerise me. The DJ style volume knob is pretty cool too. I love this keyboard! Going to have to switch over to mouse and mousepad ASAP.

Great feel and design with awesome lighting!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the size, feel, layout, and features of the Vulcan TKL! It's a great keyboard with a well thought out efficient design and it has lots of software customizable with features giving a lot of value for the money in this gaming keyboard. Design I like the space saving choices on this keyboard. There are no dedicated media control buttons, other than volume and mute. I am glad they kept the volume and mute. The top of the keys are very short, vertically. This isn't a bad thing, it just lets more light out - I think it's very cool! There's very little room above the function keys, keeping the overall dimensions small. The volume dial is great! While it isn't really special or creative in theory it's very well implemented with soft and quiet yet has a solid click-click-click feel (not sound) as you turn it. You can make a large change in volume very quickly or one notch very easily too. Even the simple but brilliant fact that instead of having a caps lock like on the caps lock key or somewhere else on the keyboard the key just changed color to white when it's on! I was impressed when I noticed that! Feel The keys have a great feel. While the top of the keys seem smaller the space from center to center seems to be normal as I like typing on it and don't have any problems with the key size or design. The keys don't need to go the whole way down to activate them, there is a lot of travel if you do. It's a great typing experience though. The Titan mechanical switches seem great to me! Key presses are fast and responsive, also giving a good feel. RGB Lighting and Swam The lighting looks very bright on this keyboard! You can turn it on or off, change the setting, or adjust the brightness on the keyboard itself. Install the Swarm software for full customization. Just a bit about Swarm...Besides customizing the keyboard lighting, Swarm lets you assign macros, remap keys, set a hot key to launch an application, or even start a timer. There are tons of built in macros for lots of games or you can make your own. One interesting feature is AIMO which they refer to as an "intelligent lighting system" or "living light". It's very cool! When enabled, which it is by default, the keyboard automatically does different cool things as you type. For instance it may light the keys you just typed on differently for a short time. It just changes and does different things. They call it "organic" in the way it works and that's a fair way to describe it. I like this because rather than going through all the different preset options or making your own it does some very cool things on it's own without just running the same pattern continuously. I posted two pictures of a quick gaming layout I made with the Swarm key illumination settings. I'm not sure the pictures do it justice but they give you a good idea of what the lighting looks like and how much light you can see from the side.

Unique, great for gaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Interesting keyboard and very unique look. The switches are very smooth and responsive great for gaming, pretty good for typing. This mainly a gaming keyboard, not really meant for long bouts of typing. The key caps are unique, the key caps are a bit smaller than standard key caps you find on other gaming keyboards but it took very little time for me to get used to it. For some reason they paired a wrist rest with the larger version, I only bring this up because my typing is a lot faster with a wrist rest than without. As for quality and specs the keyboard is great, however I can't really see myself fully committing to this keyboard, if they came out with a version with a tactile switch I would be all over that. The linear switches are great super smooth but even the slightest compression of the key will register an input, which is great for gaming so that you can immediate react within game, but for typing it can increase the mistakes made when typing. The key caps are the standard cherry mx stems with side stabilizers for extra stability, however I don't really see anyone using custom keycaps because A. that kind of defeats the purpose, since these key are unique already, second the space bar stabilizers along with the other keys that require stabilizers may not be compatible with other cherry mx keycaps. The contoured key caps are nice and make it easier to type given their unique shape. Cooler master and logitech have similar keyboards with the same style keycaps however they are both completely flat making it a bit harder to type and making easier to type the wrong letter. Another nice touch is that there is notch on the W key making it easy to set you fingers on the WASD position quickly. I gave this 5 stars because its great build quality unique lighting and keys and the switches are very smooth. For me personally I would give it more of a 3.5, but that might change as I spend more time with this keyboard and get used to very linear responsive switches. One of other mechanical keyboards, is a custom keyboard with holy panda switches, double shot key caps, and aluminum housing. One main reason I am switched for the time being is that with the custom keyboard typing was great but it was not the best to game with the massive weight of made it difficult to get the keyboard in that "gaming position" and the custom software for that keyboard was not the greatest, very customizable but mainly for typing, that is something I might reserve for the office rather than gaming.

Everything about this keyboard sceams Quility
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually own the Roccat TKL Pro but they are basically the same. I do more typing then gaming but got this because I love the feel and look of Mechanical Keyboards. The build of this keyboard is Solid with it's brushed aluminum finish. The key strokes are buttery smooth along with the Best RGB lighting I've ever had. I also like the mute button and volume wheel placed in the perfect spot. My only very small complaint and not enough to deduct any stars is the Swarm Software. It was a headache just to get it downloaded, And then applying the features took a very long time to figure out. But after a while you'll get the hang of it.

A new tough competitor in gaming peripherals
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simply, ROCCAT has entered the world of competition in the domain of games powerfully and convincingly. Flagship build quality in minimal outstanding design and the keyboard is sturdy and free of cheapy materials. RGB is breathtaking at night and bright. Keys are punchy and nicely floating at a really good spacing. Swarm desktop software is required to have the full ability to customize the keyboard. AIMO is a jump into the field of lighting. Any ROCCAT device is connected, lights will adjust itself to interact with other devices which awesome as you get an auto-configuration. I loved it!!!!!!

=== Thorough Review ===
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AWESOME keyboard, very well built for it's price and style. A lot of thin keycap boards struggle with firmness and feel off, there feel just as strong as the usual cap. The lights are phenomenal on this keyboard, at all brightness. My camera has trouble recognizing it If it's too dark around me because they're so visual. It's stunning to see such a keyboard perform like you would see on those high quality videos. I tested out a FPS games and rhythm games. The keys felt very natural and the U shaped curve really helps not feel like a flat laptop key. It's far more comfortable. This sounds dumb. But j actually returned this model for it's successor with the switches. The Vulcan TKL Pro. however, I don't beleive it's an absolutely necessary upgrade, the keys are just a little bit different but overall the feel is still pretty fantastic on this one. I got it at a time it was only $10 more than this one, but for 30 it's really not that much unless you're playing fps and competitive.

Great Keyboard!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was really surprised by the quality of this keyboard. Really responsive and the keys have a really satisfying feel. It's well built and the brushed aluminum deck is really nice. Color is vibrant and the entire thing is really customizable. The Swarm software that allows for the customization isn't bad, but it can be a bit unintuitive. There's not much in the way of documentation on the website or within the software to explain some of the features, so you'll be searching Google, Reddit, or (more often) just playing around with it. Not really an issue, more of something to keep in mind. All around a great entry level mechanical keyboard at a really reasonable price!

Great kbd.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very happy with the keyboard. Good feel - and I type a lot! I also like the volume knob and mute button on keyboard where they are easy to reach. RGB isn't as distracting as I thought it might be. A touch on the expensive side but worth it if you use keyboard a lot.

Great feeling keyboard.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the feel of the keys. I bought this primarily to play games, but I do a lot of typing as well and wanted something that felt good to type on. The keys are well spaced and have a satisfying amount of feedback without feeling clicky. The RBG is nice and the size is perfect. I came to this from a Corsair K70 Mk.2 (which I also enjoyed) and don't think I could go back.

Favorite keyboard
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Keyboard is fantastic and has great mechanical keys that feel good. The rgb controls look great but the download is currently bugged and haven’t been able to change them. Appears very customizable and doesn’t have the extra stuff you don’t need taking up space. Also feels premium and well built.

Solid build, great for gaming, good for typing
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was pleasantly surprised by this board. Compared to a Razer Blackwidow, which is what I was previously using, the build quality is solid with virtually no rattle thanks largely to the excellent key stabilizers. The key caps themselves are great: large, easy to read typeface, bright RGB and the linear switches have smooth actuation. I like the RGB presets, only a couple of which were preloaded on the board - for the others you need to download Roccats Swarm software which is whatever. I don’t really care that much about super customizable rgb, I just like that some of the presets look great and are easy to change w fb+arrow keys. Again the linear switches are great for gaming, and it’s pretty quiet (more noticeable if you are coming from clicky switches like me). USB-C connectivity is great too. The only drawbacks are that they tend to show smudges/fingerprints easily, and the secondary functions are not illuminated. Another potential drawback is perhaps they are not the best for typing; I think the keys are a little smaller and I feel like I make more typos then usual. But this probably my fingers just learning the board.

Highly Recommend
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Highly highly recommend. I returned my item regrettably but that was due to TKL format. Aesthetically the TKL size looks so great but I realized quickly I just could not function without num pad for my work and school needs. Purchased full size version of this keyboard because I absolutely loved the look, feel, and quality when testing the Vulcan TKL. High quality, beautiful design, key switch was perfect (coming from Razer w/clicky keys). This keyboard just felt so enjoyable during use.

Great RGB 87-key mechanical board for the price!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent keyboard for the price. I needed a cheap 87-key board that had mechanical switches and RGB lighting. Something I could use at work that's better than a cheapo Logitech K120 but wouldn't care too much about if something happened to it. This did the trick, pairs up nicely with the Roccat Burst Pro Air wireless mouse and Elo 7.1 headset! One gripe however.. if you're using a keyboard/mouse mat, this keyboard has a strange grounding problem when sitting on a mat. If you walk around your house and you've got carpeted flooring, the buildup of static electricity will discharge a spark every time you sit back down and go to touch the metal base of this keyboard! It's extremely annoying, not so much just the shock alone, but in that the keyboard itself will sometimes disconnect from the shock, be in a strange bugged out stuck state where the mute button and volume dial won't function until you fully un-plug/re-plug the keyboard cable back in. Wish this was just a wireless keyboard (would probably end up being more than $100 if so), might not have the same issue with no cable being plugged to the computer case causing a strange grounding issue. Other than that, types beautifully, the RGB lighting is a nice touch, get lots of compliments on it, especially with the keys being stand-off hollowed design so you can really see the lighting below each key! Note that the Roccat Swarm software is decent, but I've seen better from bigger brands like Logitech's G Hub.

Quality Board w/Great Aesthetic!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this keyboard! The TKL form factor fits nicely at my setup. Actual build is very sturdy with no flex or key-wobble. The low profile keycaps might appear to be spaced differently from a regular board but in fact are a standard spacing and very comfortable right out of the box--it wouldn't take most people very long to adjust to at all! The thinner keycaps also gives the RGB a much more prevalent and noticeable glow and presence while also exposing the inner switches giving a unique and cool view! The detachable USB-C adapter is also a nice touch for those who love their custom cabling and would want that extra customization!

Sleek design
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Feels nice looks nicer, volume knob comes in handy even though i have one on my headset this is way more convenient same with the mute button when I quickly have to go back n forth in a convo and cant hear. Key presses feel nice and not too loud but can still be a bit obnoxious when quickly pressing while playing only down side would have to be the led color options but still looks good key response is pretty legit has usb-c so obviously not the worst id recommend unless you dont like the key noise too much
