Can’t simply turn the wheel and get your character to turn or move on the screen like the old Wii controller. The ergonomics for someone older works great, but it’s more of a novelty for the kids

While that was a pipe dream, they're a fun addition, but not the technology addition I anticipated. There are contact points that connect to the left and right buttons on the top when the controllers are snapped into the wheel, but no tech of their own.
