These are a fine budget option and are probably a good option for kids as you won't feel bad if they get dropped, thrown, sat on, etc. I've only had them a few months now and they are still holding up. The only downside is I prefer a slightly larger controller/wheel when going this route, but for the price, it's a solid deal.
