I had a hard time not over tightening the screws that hold my speakers to the mounts. The only thing I do like about them was that they were fairly inexpensive

I have a 5x7 bookshelf speaker on them and they feel like they could break off by the slightest bump from something.

You have to be careful - if you overtighten (which is easy to do), it gets damaged and you have to trash that pieces. Also it doesn't pivot at all - which is what the description says but I didn't understand it until I tried it.
