Great movie told with truth and a hint of fantasy.

There were high expectations for this movie because of two reasons: it is about Elton John and it followed quickly behind “Bohemian Rhapsody”.and it comes pretty closs to achieving that lofty goal. Not as dramatic as the Queen epic ending but has many great moments. The fantasy bothered some but I thought it made the film special and memorable. The structure of the story telling is fascinating. The performance by Tarn Egerton is amazing especially since he did most of the singing.

I love this movie! It is so well made! I really enjoyed how he/they incorporated his songs to tell the story of Elton John's life starting from when he was a small child as a musical prodigy. And kudos to Sir Elton John for having the courage to show his very human and vulnerable side so we can all relate that even a Superstar Rocket Man can run into the same pitfalls in life we all do at times and still be able to persevere and rise above in a more difficult time. What a success story! What a man!

Taron Egerton was wrongly not nominated for the Oscar but that shouldn’t take away from how awesome he was and how real this movie was. I recently read the book Elton wrote and it’s fun to sort of correlate certain things from book to movie. Now obviously the movie takes a lot of liberties and is told as more of a fantasy movie but that’s the point of it. This was a better movie than Bohemian if you ask me and was unfortunately overlooked come Oscar season.

I love Elton John and thought this movie was going to be as good as Bohemian Rhapsody, but it was different. The music of course was great, but very strange how they would just break out in a musical setting.

Let me start off by saying Elton John is an awesome talent! Rocketman on the other hand isn't and wasn't what I expected. This is a musical that seems to rush through some of the life events of Elton John. Some parts seemed like they were just thrown in like anafterthought. I purchased this because of a recommendation from my dentist. I mentioned to him how much I liked Bohemian Rhapsody and he said he liked this much better. I can't understand why and that will be the last time I take his recommendations on anything movie related. How I wish I could get my money back.

Probably one my favorite musicals to date. I went in with no expectations and came out an even bigger fan of Elton John. I had always known his music and listened here and there. But to see his story on the big screen, it really blew me away. Also Taron Edgerton was phenomenal. The guy literally sang his heart out for this role. Such a great film, highly recommend.
