This is the only good Star Wars film made without the involvement of George Lucas, but it is a very good movie and 4K is the best way to see it.

The film is amazing, but is the steel book worth it if your other Star Wars movies are clothed in plastic? I think this version can be. Compared to other non-standard cases, the construction is built to last. It does not stand out next to a plastic case, and the art work within is as gorgeous as the exterior artwork. It will fit nicely in your collection, in my humble opinion. What you get seems to be the same as other "BluRay+" sets. You don't miss out, but you are not exactly adding features purchasing this version. So, if the rest of your collection is not steel book, don't feel like you need to buy this version to experience everything.

I had serious questions about Rogue One from the first time I heard about a “prequel” to Star Wars IV: A New Hope. So, I decided to wait on others to share their thoughts about the movie. The only “spoiler” I heard was how “the movie ended where IV began.” Armed with this knowledge, I took the afternoon off from work so the theatre would not be plagued by “school aged” folks. I was very pleased with each new character as well as the way in which they were introduced. Of course, there were all kinds of “dove tails” in the script as well. Needless to say, the “special effects” involved with some of the characters blew me away. Watch this movie!

"Rogue One" not only shows us how the rebels got their hands on the blueprints to the first Death Star, it also shows us why the Empire built it with the flaw that allowed Luke to blow it up in "A New Hope". The film is funny at times despite the heavy subject manner, but its biggest failure is characterization. Other than Jyn, none of the other characters are fleshed out much, so by the end it's hard to care about them. It's great to have Vader back in this film, but I think the writers missed an opportunity to use him more. Instead, they rely on Krennnic as their main villain, but he sadly comes off as a whiny brat more than someone to be feared. I appreciate the many Easter eggs that call back to the other films in the saga, and I like the re-appearance of certain characters via CGI even if the effect isn't always 100% convincing. As for the Blu-ray itself, I like the steelbook packaging but admit I only bought it so I could own the 3D version of the film. Speaking of 3D, it adds depth to some shots in this movie, but there are zero pop out moments to be seen. The bonus features are lacking because Disney didn't see fit to include the trailers or any of the much-talked-about shots in those trailers that didn't make it into the final film.

After watching this film for the second time (the first was in the theater, second on bluray at home), I think I like Rogue One even better. It's not one I would share with the kids because, well, **SPOILERS** don't get too attached to any characters ** but for adults, it's a tense yet humorous little aside from the main Star Wars saga. There is a scene at the end that may just be the single best sequence in any of the seven films before it and probably even the ones currently in production. BestBuy was the best place to buy for me because it was under 20 bucks for the Blu-DVD-Digital combo, and I got to use my rewards to pay for it.

I had mixed feelings about this movie as the date of its release approached and despite best intentions missed it in the theater. Ordered it on BestBuy.com as soon as the Blu Ray became available and was pleased I could pick it up on the day or release without worrying about it selling out (which it did at many locations.) Is wasn't until about 30 minutes into the movie that I was hooked and have to say that, while I am not willing to say it is my favorite of the series, it is definitely very near the top of the list. Do yourself a favor and check it out if you haven't There are several behind the scenes extras included which are excellent.

This spin off has been, by far, the best movie of the newest generation of Star Wars movies. The story is compelling, the actors all give incredible performances, the genuine Star Wars movie feel is there without being too cliche and silly. The movie is quite dark with few moments to celebrate. This helps convey the seriousness of what needs to happen, storyline-wise, at this moment in the Star Wars universe. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of a single thing that I would have done differently in this movie. It is so near to perfect for my taste that I wouldn’t dare change a thing.

Great Star Wars movie now in 4k. Only complaint is that the digital code on iTunes is not in 4k and this is a problem with all Disney movies.

Gritty, dark, and without a happy ending, this is by far the best Star Wars since Empire. The film draws you in with characters you genuinely care about, which makes the ending all that much more difficult to accept. The story neatly fits in right before episode four and really is a great vision of how the rebels came up with the death star plans. Many many edge-of-the-seat minutes. Occasionally overacted, but that's to be expected from a group of relative newbies. The Blu-Ray is typically excellent. Disney doing great things with Physical Media. It's nice to still be able to hold a move in your hand. Those days are numbered,
