When I bought this, I was told this had both Ethernet and WiFi connectivity. I had told the BestBuy associate that I had poor WiFi reception where I planned to use this device (replacement for NETGEAR NeoTV which is junk!) and this was his recommendation. I told him, too, that I had tried Roku in the past and, for some reason I didn't remember, returned it; I thought it had something to do with required registration - the associate didn't know anything about their registration process. When I got home and started to set it up, it DOES NOT have Ethernet connection; WiFi only. I did try the WiFi connection and was surprised and pleased that it found the WiFi router and was able to connect; even said it was a good signal. However, the registration required reminded me of why I rejected Roku years ago; they require one to provide a credit card number for "free" registration. I'm not going to give anyone a credit card number unless I'm buying something from them just so they can have it on hand. I was all set to return the unit when I thought I'd give their support a try. The person I talked to was pleased to set up an account for me without a credit card number! I give A+ to their support, but a D to their registration requirement for a credit card. If you want this unit, call their support to get an account created if you don't want to give them a credit card number.

I was quite surprised how well the roku 1 handles 1080p streaming , smooth interface. Highly recommended for first time buyer.

Bought this after I disconnected video service through Time Warner Cable, excellent! HD antenna, Hulu and Sling are much cheaper thanks to Roku and my Xbox One!

I purchased this for my daughter's Smart TV during Christmas. We are ditching cable and she wanted more apps than the Smart TV offered.

I initially went into best buy to get a Smart Blu Ray player for the sole purpose of watching Netflix on my TV instead of constantly using my laptop. I don't actually own any Blu Ray's or even any DVD's for that matter. Imagine my disappointment when I was informed by the nice gentleman that Blu Ray players only work with an HDMI cable, and I definitely do not have even the slightest resemblance of an HDMI hook up on my dinosaur of a TV. I was really sad, but he then suggested that I check out the ROKU 1. Having never heard of it, my interest was piqued. He said it would be a better option for me since I really only want it to watch Netflix with and it connects to older TV's. I was sold, and it was only $53 and some change, including tax. I went home and immediately set it up. It took less than 10 minutes, was extremely simple and self explanatory, and boom! Easy as that I was watching Netflix on my TV. I love this thing and I'm so satisfied with my purchase!

The Roku is the perfect size it doesn't clutter your electronics. The ability to watch Netflix and listen to great music on amazon. Even purchase vudu movies to watch. It is very versatile! Highly recommended! !

This product comes in handy for our living-room entertainment, has a tendency to act glitchy at times but works well a majority of the time. Might think about getting the chromecast for the mirroring capabilities, if I had an HDMI input on my TV, being that its 9 years.

I heard about rocku through a Facebook friend and decided to try it because I don't have a "smart" TV in my bedroom. I bought the first edition because it was the cheapest and I didn't want to spend a lot on something I was unsure about. The set up is very easy and user friendly. I started watching movies/shows right away. Unfortunately, the rocku stopped working after a month. I thought it was the remote because it would turn on. I replaced remote batteries and when that didn't work I bought a new remote ($10) still didn't work! I am unhappy about that but then again I should've spent the money and bought the best one. Rocku is an awesome product and I am going to buy the newest edition.

I've no idea why they are still make these lower end models, I've read the processors are horrible (post-purchase sadly). No selection of Netflix user profiles is a deal-breaker for me, I guess only the Roku 3 has that. Although it is faster than the old Sony TV that I was using, I was happy about that. But, It's getting exchanged tomorrow for a Roku 3. Don't waste your time on this, get a Roku 3 right away before you realize what you are missing, and it's too late to return it.

11 year old grandson loves his Roku. Very easy to use. Does not require additional money. Parents already had internet and streaming service provider (Netflix).

I had a reward zone coupon so, on a whim, i bought this roku. i wanted something so i could watch netflix and amazon prime in my bedroom without buying another bluray player. i figured for $40 what do i have to lose? turns out this thing is a bargain. it hooked up in 5 minutes and after some registrations i have what i want. you do have to supply a credit card when setting up in case you want to purchase anything. i don't find this to be a problem. i haven't looked at all it has to offer yet. i'm sure in time i will but for now i am very happy with it.

This is a huge step up from my ROKU LT. I love it. I am hoping that it will soon be able to replace my regular Comast service.

Great for streaming, decent amount of channels (which have improved over time). Great alternative for cable.

In the last month, I've bought 2 Roku 1 streaming players (I have 2 TVs). Both have worked out of the box. Roku 1 supports both composite video and HDMI and hence will support most TVs. If you have a 4K TV or other special needs, this may not be the product for you. Otherwise it simply works, and you have access to a wide universe of streaming providers.

Glad to have this it allows me to watch shows I couldn't before.

I purchased 3 of these and they are great. Gave two to family as gifts and they love them! Best way to enjoy a movie. Movies to current weather & news.

My boyfriend Is in love with this item, he never turns it off. Guests are amazed at what it does & the price is good.
