Roku 2 Bandwith Hog
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Whenever the ROKU was on, whether streaming or just in standby mode, it used almost all of the bandwidth. We have 10 mbs fiber internet. I ran speed tests when the ROKU unit was idle and the result on my laptop was just over 1 mbs without any other devices connected. There is no way to log off or shut down ROKU except to unplug it. When I unplugged the ROKU unit and ran more speed tests, the results were 9.8 to 10 mbs. I really like the ROKU interface and all the free channels but unplugging it every time we wanted to use another device such as a tablet or laptop is unreasonable. I did some research and found that this is a common problem with ROKU. I returned the unit after three days. If ROKU Inc. can solve the bandwith hogging issue, I would certainly be willing to purchase a ROKU 2 again.
