I bought this in hopes of getting local channels to stream. The whole experience seemed clunky compared to the chromecast I currently own. If you are new to streaming this may work for you, but compared to different devices the interface is not great.

We just bought the Roku 2. It does everything and more that the box says it does. You can add and delete certain apps that you don't want to have on the device. The only thing that we didnt like was that when we were linking the device and putting in our information they asked for a credit card number. So, I simply called the support line and asked why? The lady of course did not speak perfect English so it was a bit of a struggle with communication. She told me to type in the search box "Roku nocc" and the first link you see click on that one. You must do this on a computer and not your mobile device. It will allow you to skip putting in your credit card information and add it at another time if you would like to purchase something. Other than that we absolutely love this streaming system.

The product provides a great alternative to Cable but, once you get to a certain screen you are prompted to a website & then instructed to Pay an Additional Fee! FALSE MISLEADING ADVERTISING!

This model does not perform all that great. It’s slow to boot up, slow to load menus and play your selection and often has to stop to buffer.

It was hard to understand the Roku instructions and how to use it. If I could have returned it I would have but it passed the 15 day return policy.

If you are looking for a streaming device look no further...The Roku 2 is the best. You will first need to decide if you need just Netflix or also Amazon Prime Video. There are a vast number of other channels on each but these are the most popular as well as Hulu Plus for paid subscriptions. Chromecast does not offer Amazon Prime Video because of the Google-Amazon rivalry. We subscribe to both Netflix and Amazon so Chromecast was not an option. We were replacing an older Roku we had for years and first bought a Roku stick attracted by the size and price. It worked ok but were ultimately disappointed by the constant buffering. We took it back to Best Buy and exchanged it for an Amazon FireTV Stick. While the user interface was attractive there were again buffering issues. Interestingly it was mainly Netflix while Amazon Prime Video worked fine. So we upgraded our router to a high end model to see if that was the issue. Nope...the buffering issues continued. So we took back the Fire Stick and abandoned the streaming sticks altogether and bought the Roku 2. It has been flawless! No irritating buffering or resetting which we had to do constantly with the sticks. Just pure streaming entertainment enjoyment the way it's meant to be! Save yourself from buffering frustration and go Roku 2 right from the start.

This just isn't anything special when you can stream Netflix or a hundred other apps to watch movies or TV.

We taught that we can watch live TV,also we looking for a local channels but it doesn't show local channels

Easy to set up but I would not recommend this product since we had issues with screen flicker day 2.

If you have a TV and/or DVD player that doesn't have a built-in WiFi streamer, this is a cheap easy-to-use alternative. Of course, it has all the big streaming apps (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc.) pre-loaded, but there are LOADS of other channels also available. Plug it in. Connect it. Log in to your WiFi. Log in to your streaming sites. Boom. You're done. The only negative I've had to deal with in the months I've owned this is that it does require a reboot about every 2 or 3 weeks. A quick unplug, 10-second wait, plug back in is all it takes...but that's still annoying when it happens. Still, pretty dependable performance overall for little money.

Could not understand it to get it to work. Amazon fire stick was a better fit for me

It appears to be a great product, but in order to set up, Roku requires credit card info

We found the WIFI fleeting so returned to store. Not worth the $$.
