I purchased this to make my vizio e60 smarter. The Roku is a lot faster than the smart tv itself. I have had for about 5 days now and have only watched Netflix. The picture looks great and the Roku remote app on the smartphone is a plus!

Terrible!! The HDMI port fell inside the unit after 3 months. Plugged the HDMI cable in maybe 3 or 4 times since we bought it. Called Roku and they would not replace it. Would not buy again, going to buy an Amazon Fire Stick.

    A Life Changer

I recently became a cord cutter and joined the streaming revolution. I didn't do this out of any sort of sense of adventure or even a move against the cable companies. I needed to make a cost of living adjustment and cable was a luxury I could not justify at this point in time. I picked up two Roku 2's more than a month ago and I've been very pleased with them. Setup was easy and using them is simple. Roku offers a nice web based utility to track the devices and even configure services. The remote is limited, but I find it an improvement to the remote for my Apple TV. And while I love my Apple TV, I love the fact that Roku gives you the option to chose what channels to install and the volume of available channels is incredible. Many channels do cost, but I found am no longer paying for a bunch of channels I never watched. SlingTV offers many of the more common cable channels for $20 a month. Netflix, Amazon TV and Hulu give me most of the content I want and for a small monthly fee. And now HBO, Showtime and other movie channels are becoming available to streaming subscribers. With Roku, you do get what you pay for and it is surprisingly quite liberating. Originally I was planning on going back to cable, but now I'm not so sure. Roku provides a simple device and access to services that just works for me. I hope it will work for you too. Side Note on remotes: I picked up the Roku Remote app for my iPad. My only issue with the Roku TV (versus the Android boxes like the Kindle Fire TV) is the lack of full keyboard support. With the Roku Remote program, I was able to have the full keyboard for use with my Roku device. Plus it gave me the ability to jump directly to more channels than the physical remote for the Roku unit itself does (it has 4 buttons that allow you to jump to Sling TV, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon TV). With this app, you have a page of apps at your fingertips. At less than a dollar, I found the remote app to be a worthwhile addition to the Roku 2.

    Let the Binge Watching begin!

After a great experience using the Roku 3, I first thought this one might be slower especially when the lady at the counter said that as well. I knew the remotes were also different, so I hesitated. Luckily I was wrong! The Roku 2 does the job. If you are simply looking for an HDMI capable streaming device (with micro SD+USB port), this is it! I have no use for the 4K, motion remote, or options I won't even use. This one is perfect for my needs. The energy consumption is great and eco friendly. I frequently use it as my media center for HD movies using my portable hard drive or an old USB stick). No buffering whatsoever! I just love this thing!

I bought this for my dad, and it was easy to install and setup. He has no trouble using it and it does great for streaming. I did a lot of research and reading reviews, and I agree that this is the best for streaming.

This would be great if you don't have a smart TV or blue ray DVD player. I actually have not even used this item since I purchased it.

At first I was skeptical about purchasing a Roku product. I had my reservations but I said to myself "Hey let's give it a chance". After easily setting it up and being amazed by the easy simple navigation. I fell in love with my ROKU 2! Mega fast entertainment packed in such a small device! I'm blown away and beyond satisfied with my purchase I highly recommend it!

Im partial to Roku as I already have a Roku TV and Ive purchased the streaming stick for my father and at 82 he can actually use it. This model of the Roku 2 is the previous version of the Roku 3 and as such the speed was sufficient for my needs. Since this was going on a TV in the family room I did not need the voice activated, headphones and motion sensor of the Roku 3. However that will be my next Roku purchase for the kids bedrooms. Streaming wise the Roku has plenty of channels to stream. Hookup is very simple with an HDMI cable and a power cord. You do have to make an account with Roku but i have never had any problem with this and it is free. As a lot of us have an external drive on our network, the Roku has an app to view your network media server (external hard drive) which is great for viewing photos. Netflix comes in quick with almost no hesitation. It also has a USB and and micro SD card slot which are easy to get to on the unit to view media. The dual band wireless is nice also however I have mine hardwired. Now with a lot of channels and I mean main stations , streaming I will eventually cut the cord to my cable.

Might night be the cream of the crop, but this is perfect for someone that just wants to watch some Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other shows. It's faster than my wifi bluray player and doesn't get confused like my bluray did all the time. The user interface is extremely easy to use.

This is an awesome device. I even use it on my Samsung Smart TV because this is much faster and have more apps. I have started recommending many friends to not buy smart TV and rather go for normal HD LED TV and buy a Roku device to make it smart. this is value for money product. You will save a lot on normal TV and using Roku to make any TV a Smart TV.

This is a great little gadget. You can watch a lot of tv and movies for free. Must enter a cc to set up but can set it up so there is a password before someone can order anything that has a cost. The only problem I have with it is that sometimes it needs to be reset (glitch). Easy to reset though so no worries. I'd recommend to someone trying to save some money on tv and movie entertainment.

Super easy setup, works great except HDCP error

This Roku was incredibly easy to setup, including connecting to wireless, adding services like Netflix, and additional channels like YouTube. There are dozens of channels to pick from, some requiring a subscription, and others not. The only complaint I have is that with certain older TVs, you can get and HDCP error, which is an old copy protection scheme that is still in use. In this case, fixing the problem requires turning on the Roku and TV in a specific sequence. Sometimes the error occurs anyway, and so resetting the equipment is necessary. It's quite an inconvenience, but most people will never experience it.

    Good upgrade over Roku 1

My Roku 1 died unexpectedly so I upgraded to the Roku 2. It is a substantial upgrade, and well worth the extra $15-20. First, there is an option to connect the Roku 2 via Ethernet. Second, the processor is faster on the Roku 2 vs the Roku 1, and it significantly improves the user interface and app performance. We use the Roku primarily to watch Sling TV. The Sling app works much better with the Roku 2. Channels tune faster and the channel guide is much more responsive. We also stream a lot of Hulu. Hulu performance is also faster, but the difference is not as significant as it was with the Sling TV app. I would highly recommend upgrading to the Roku 2 for anyone who plans on streaming using the Sling TV app.

Upgraded from the Roku XD and had used Roku Stick. Each of those struggled running Sling TV. the app crashed at least once a day. With the new Roku 2 it has yet to crash and the entire interface is blazing fast now, no more painfully slow loading between channel changes. I was becoming fed up with Sling TV but this makes it a great solution again, especially if you prefer sports and have the Sling TV Sports add-on. So happy I pulled the trigger on this Roku.
