Customers are saying

Customers value the 3 Streaming Player's ease of use, smooth streaming capabilities, and intuitive remote control. Many appreciate the voice search function and the device's compact size. While some users noted shorter battery life and occasional heat generation, the positive feedback on performance and picture quality outweighs these minor drawbacks.

Roku 3 works terrific. Once we got through the initial set up it works great. So many viewing options to choose from. OAN is the main reason we purchased it.

    Great for Streaming

I have an older smart tv in our living room that I used for watching Amazon movies. Last fall, I began having problems streaming with my tv so I decided to purchase a Roku. I have an older Roku 2 in our bedroom. I was fortunate to see the Roku 3 during a flash sale at Best Buy, and I have been very pleased with it. I no longer have problems streaming movies. I also like that it gives us the option to select a user with Netflix. We couldn't do this with the older model. I also like the buttons on the remote for popular channels (Amazon, Netflix, etc.). We've had the Roku 3 for a few months and have been very happy with it. It's easy to use, and the quality has been great. We have Comcast Xfinity, and we haven't had any problems with freezing or other annoyances.

My Second ROKU and the best one

Have a Roku 2 that I really like, but I bought it because the TV we added it to didn't have HDMI only DVI. The ROku 2 is very capable but this one is even better. It's fast, its responsive, it Just works. Like that it allows the newer profiles on Netflix. It works better than the smart TV functions built into the TV I connected it.

I have a Smart TV, but was forever having problems trying to connect to the web for streaming. So I decided to purchase this device. It is absolutely fantastic for streaming content, and I have never once had a problem connecting to the web for streaming purposes on my TV! I absolutely love this product!

Roku 3 is by all accounts better than the rest in the under $100 price class…Especially when it comes to content, performance and navigation is concern. There are also others worth mentioning. For more information visit www.streaming-players.com/best-media-streaming-devices-top-20

I had Chromecast for a while and then the Fire TV stick. The Roku is miles better. It works, it's easy, and all channels are available on it; the Fire TV was close and had a better remote but there were several channels, like USA, that wouldn't work with it. Chromecast was good but also missing a lot of channels. The quality of the streaming is excellent. The navigation is fast. I just love my Roku. I've had it for a little while now and so far I've never had an issue. I only wish it was integrated with Alexa, but that will be for the future, for now I just have to use the remote.

Amazing product. For around the cost of 1 month of a medium tier cable subscription there are a lot of viewing choices. Being able to plug headphones into the remote is icing on the cake :-)

Purchased the roku 3 today. Made all connections. Entered a credit card (required). Great picture. Appears to be easy to use. No matter what audio settings I used there was no sound. Called tech support (toll call). Tech support required payment to discuss issue. I said I should not have to pay on a new device. Tech hung up. Tried online chat. No response. I said I would return device if not resolved. Received a response. "You have been banned". What ever that means. I have heard good things about the roku 3, but haven't seen it for myself.

This is a great alternative to high cable bills. If you only watch a little tv, this is for you. A lot of great programs to watch and if you have Netflix, Amazon Prime or anything similar, chances are you can link it to your Roku 3.Just what I expected. A quality product. Lots of functionality

I wanted the box (instead of the stick) for Ethernet hookup and headphone remote. I haven't had the previous Roku's so I can't compare but, this newer version of Roku3, the remote doesn't require line of site. That's what made me get it instead of the other Roku3 that is on sale. Otherwise I don't think there is any other difference. Set up is easy. No issues. Streaming is great. Response to remote inputs are fast.

ROKU3 - REMOTE PAIRING ISSUES with wifi!!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I can honestly say this was far from being a Plug-N-Play device for me and I'm pretty tech-saavy for the average person, however I must add my 2 cents on Roku3's REMOTE PAIRING ISSUES as you may be experiencing them. It is likely going be be an ordeal to deal to get setup if you planned to simply use a WiFi connection to get the remote "paired" with the base unit. After countless rounds and 3.5+ long hours later of troubleshooting the many methods I found online, I managed to do just ONE thing that helped me move forward and not throw the new unit against the wall! Notice this: The remote that comes with the Roku3 is a "wireless" remote. It's not your typical "infrared" type remote that shoots a beam of light to operate. The Roku3 base unit also wireless (and has an Ethernet connection option available). It will also need a way to connect to your internet to get "paired". Believe me when I say that I: removed batteries, replaced batteries, did hard resets on the Roku base unit itself, cleared codes in the remote, plugged in, un-plugged, re-booted - tv's, computers, routers, all of it -and- direct hooked to my internet source with my wired Ethernet cable with NO LUCK WHATSOEVER. return the item, when I then stumbled across an obscure step someone else mentioned that finally made the connection for me. Noticing again the difference of the Roku3 remote being wireless, and not your typical infrared ("IR"), it finally occurred to me maybe the remote is not communicating with the base - because it's just not seeing it! As it turns out there's a real flaw here. The base unit needs a more current firmware update to get the (wireless) remote to pair with it. This firmware update needs to download via the internet to make it happen & move forward. The break-through workaround for me was to go to the Google Play store, download a universal remote IR (infrared) app called "ZAPPIR" (the free version worked fine on my Samsung tablet - it may work on your phone device too). I was then able to use the (infrared) ZAPPIR remote app to gain control of the Roku3, and the on-screen Roku3 commands finally became accessible. I then found my private WiFi network, was able to log in to it, and download the firmware. An on screen prompt then gave me an ACTIVATION CODE to enter online at www.roku.com/link and connect / create my online ROKU account. AND after ALL that, the base unit of the Roku FINALLY detected the (wireless) remote on it's own. As a final note, if you have an older Roku with an infrared remote, it may control the new Roku3 unit to get it where you can get the initial wireless remote and firmware update setup moving forward. I have yet to really use my Roku3 yet, as I'm still a little mad, but celebrating getting it finally setup! I may get back and add to this review/comment after a week or so to see if it's going to be a keeper after all. ;)
