The Roku 3 streaming playing is a very nice upgrade from the Roku streaming stick. Its faster and the extra features like volume on the remote and voice search makes it alot easier to use!

Quite a bit more channels than Apple TV and a more versatile and user friendly remote.

First this unit is more complicated to set up then the Apple TV, I was not able to set up from my tablet so I called tech (lack of) support. The person told me that the jumping thru hoops involved in setting the unit up (go to web site to get code, etc) did not work from some tablets, ok he was able to get me set up over the phone. A few days later the unit was not able to get online to stream...I did all the usual stuff, reset the router, tried a different network cable, no luck, I then tried.my PS3, and it worked fine using the same cables (I have hardwired my house to eliminate so-so Wi-Fi, so I called tech (sigh) support again, this time the rep and the supervisor were both NO help. They gave me some ridiculous explanation as to why it would not work. Next time... and since the unit has worked ok. I might recommend this to a friend, but I would warn them about the lousy tech support. One more thing, if you look up the tech support phone number (it is not in the paperwork that comes with the unit) be careful you don't call one of the many sites offering to help for a fee, that in itself tells you something about Roku's poor tech support.

This is a second Roku that I have purchased and given to a friend. I enjoy the large number of free movies it provides and the high speed streaming that it can handle. Plus with a small fee you can add Netflix and Hulu to make it even better!

I bought the Roku3 looking for a way to reduce or gt rid of my Satellite bill. I currently have a 6mbs internet connection. I'm able to stream to to TVs with no problem. If you are not concerned with live TV then this product is great. If you have a Netflix, Hulu, Amazon then you can stream straight to your TV (you don't have to worry about holding a phone or tablet; and everyone can see the TV!) You do have to have a HDMI cable; it does NOT come with one. You can hook it directly to your modem with ethernet cable or you can stream it wireless. When setting it up it directs you to the Roku website and has you enter credit card information, thus when/if you chose to watch something that is rentable or if you chose to add a paid channel subscription you can do so at any time while watching at the TV. There are tons of channels you can add for free. If you do keep your cable or satellite then you can add the major network channels and watch recent episodes - eliminates need for DVR (equates with going to station's website to view recent episodes)! There are TONS of internet channels you can add to your Roku - lots of free channels with cheesy B-grade movies and several you can pay a fee to add. It's a really great deal. You just have to play with it long enough to get it set up for your personal preferences in TV programs. Whatever your taste is I'm sure you can find it on Roku.

Definitely a good product for people who like to binge stream from multiple sources.

Apps open quickly unlike my Samsung smart TV. I use a wired internet connection and video is smooth and reliable. The voice search works pretty well. The ear phone jack is a nice feature.

My husband and I have owned a roku 3 for many years. Our old roku 3 was out dated, so we decided to purchase an new one. All the updates are great. So much better then our older Roku 3. We use it everyday. The roku 3 unit is a great product for the price. We would definitely recommend roku 3 to a friend.

My daughter has a friend who recommended getting rid of our cable company U-Verse when their prices became unreasonable at 179.00 per month for U 200 package and Internet. We have now had it for about 3 weeks and even purchase a second stick to take to a hotel while traveling to watch Netflix. Loved it.

I love the way my Roku makes my TV the vehicle for streaming movies and shows from the internet. They are easy to select and to run using my Roku. Having a remote makes the Roku extremely easy to operate, to mute, to use. Wonderful design. I have recommended to to my close friend, and she is buying one soon.
