If your tv does not have a USB connection the guide says to use a power adapter like your phone has for power. I still had to use my phone adapter because I got a message that my USB connection isn’t providing enough power.

As a quick fix, we recommend using an adapter with a power output of 5 Volts and 1 Amp (1000 mA) or a regular phone charger adaptor and plugging it into a wall outlet. Connecting to a wall outlet has the added advantage of ensuring that your Roku streaming player doesn’t need to power up each time you turn on your TV. Bough tit to use with my Visio Smart TV because the remote that comes with the TV is cheap and the buttons are so flat you can barely feel them. Hard to use at night in the dark as you have to look at the button you push each time to make sure it is the correct button. Using this remote is much easier!!!!!!!!!

IR line of sight remote

I didn't realize that this was line of sight IR remote control also. That has made the set up and hanging the box (and facing it in the right direction) a little bit more of a hassle. For that reason I would recommend spending a few extra dollars and ordering the next step up. The regular Roku's can usually hang behind the TV or mess of cords and still receive the signal fine.

Great way to lose a cable box!

Wish there was integrated volume control on the Roku so I don’t have to juggle two remotes, and it would be great if the Roku remote was backlit. But I can live with these two little inconveniences now that I’ve returned our tv’s cable box to Xfinity and knowing how much I’m going to save each year by getting the Roku and ditching the cable box!

This player comes with very few instructions, and there is NO volume button on the remote. It takes a little while to learn to navigate, but it is not difficult. The device provides more television viewing options than anyone could ever imagin,e watching. It will assist me in cutting back on cable bills, which was my primary objective.

Perfect for HD TVs

I wanted to be able to do streaming and start cutting the cable cord. However, nothing is wrong with my TV. It is just not a smart tv. I researched and determined that the Roku platform was best for me and the express device was the preferred model. I am not super tech savvy; however, the installation was simple. I would highly recommend this device.

Great product for first time streamer.

Tough to teach her new tricks and the Amazon fire stick made it impossible because of all the activity on the screen. The ROKU box however allows you to turn all the noise off and only the apps you want are visible on the screen. Phone calls for help from Mom went from daily to none. For folks that have difficulty moving from cable to streaming, Roku is the way to go.
