Lost opportunity

Steer clear and go with something else
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This player is trash. I've had it a week and it has already crashed or locked up multiple times. I knew there were gonna be issues when going to activate the device and they want a credit card # from you - what company wants a credit card # when you are merely activating a device, especially one that is advertised as not having any charges of any kind. Well thats a lie because there are premium movies directly from Roku that you have to pay for (most streaming services are billed directly and not via Roku). Only way to activate your Roku is input your CC # and then come back and remove it. Then using the various streaming apps that I pay for directly, or are free, they will lock up or become very laggy. The problem is NOT my internet as I only have problems within Roku. I should have listened to myself and got an Amazon Fire TV stick instead.....the Roku is being returned and I'll get the Fire TV. Do yourself a favor, steer clear of Roku.

Posted .Hi Keith, sorry to hear that the player isn't performing as expected. In some cases, video playback problems may be the result of network issues, or they could be caused by an issue related to a single channel, depending on when the error occurs.
To rule out the network issue, check the strength of your internet connection by going to Settings > Network > Check connection. This will test the quality of the signal and also measure the speed of that connection, to be sure that your signal is strong enough for your streaming. If you haven't already, try restarting your Roku player and be sure that you are using the latest version of the Roku OS software, located within your Roku Settings. When the errors you're seeing are only happening on one specific channel, you may need to uninstall and reinstall that channel to resolve.

No tv input option on roku device

This means on the home channel page, you can not go to "antenna" or "HDMI" or any other input option. For us this means there is no way to get to cable tv without adding a 3rd remote (roku remote, cable remote, tv source remote). Super disappointed

Horrible Device DO NOT BUY

I cannot stress this enough, I put this in the beginning of the review because I know some people, understandably so, wont want to read a long paragraph of text, but trust me, its HORRIBLE. It can really be summed up in one way, absolutely terrible wireless hardware in the device. It drops constantly, and I mean constantly, sometimes its every 30 seconds with youtube videos, other times its every 20 minutes with shows or movies, but either way, its bad. It has nothing to do with the proximity to the access point because the one in the living and in the bedroom do the same exact thing, and the one in the living room is maybe 15 feet away in the same room as the AP. And the bedroom one is maybe 40 feet, it's a small apartment. And it's not just the devices, I have gone through 3 in the living room and 2 in the bedroom and they have all had the same problems. The internet speed tests on them constantly report 7 to 10 Mbps down when phones and laptops show the full speed of my internet connection, or at least what is expected for the proximity. I dont expect them to show the full 400, maybe they only have 802.11 G or N radios in them, but even at G it should have 54 Mbps, and it's nowhere close. These devices are absolute GARBAGE. Please do not give them anymore money to continue making subpar junk like this, I'm going to try a firestick next, and if that doesnt work in just going to make my own raspberry pi stream box or something because quite honestly this is ridiculous that a company would put something out that is this bad, this atrocious, and call it complete, and even build it into TVs. I feel sorry for those people because they are paying extra for a built device that will fail after a couple of months of use. Please....please STAY AWAY FROM THIS JUNK.
