Excellent Performance & Value!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Was looking for a HD streaming device that could be powered by the USB ports on an older Sony TV. Since the USB 2.0 ports on the TV are only rated for 2.5W (0.5A @ 5VDC), "low power" problems can occur with power-hungry streamers. Amazon's streamers have some very nice features (Alexa, etc.) but their 4-5W power consumption is a deal-breaker. Of the Roku offerings, the Express and Streaming Stick (non-Plus) are the only ones that satisfy the USB 2.0 power rating. Unfortunately, the Streaming Stick is too long with the Micro-USB cable plugged into the end. For this reason, I purchased the Express (Model 3900R). Installation was simple and straightforward and the streamer was up and running in very little time. The necessary USB and HDMI cables were provided with the streamer. Keep in mind that the remote control uses IR and requires line-of-sight to the streamer. The user interface is straightforward and very easy to use, although some consider it to be outdated. Importantly, the streamer performed flawlessly and I'm very impressed. Nice job, Roku!
