Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does everything well - with one big exception: There is no "TV Input" or "Source" button on the Roku remote, so switching between live/cable/satellite service and Roku streaming requires use of the TV's original remote. Once in "Roku mode" all is good, until you want to switch back. But it would be MUCH better if it had either a designated user-set button or allowed for resetting one or more of the 4 preset streaming service buttons (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Sling) to another purpose. After all, who actually subscribes to all 4 -- and exactly these 4 -- streaming services?

Better than Vizio Smartcast but the OS feels dated

The Roku had better response time compared to Smartcast. However, I was a little disappointed at the sound reproduction since it sounds a bit flatter compared to Smartcast. (My 5.1 surround sound is passed-through my Yamaha YHT-4950UBL). It seems that the sound coming from the Roku sounds like stereo although when I check the sound info on the Vizio TV it states that the sound is Dolby. The screen presentation also seem kinda dated. Anyway, still happy with the purchase since when searching for shows Roku is pretty search-agnostic compared to the Amazon FireStick.

I do appreciate the free content apps, lots of great free shows. Something to consider is that Roku comes with a smart phone mobile app, which you can plug in your headphones and listen to your TV. If you don't mind using your phone, then there's no real reason to spend the extra money for the "Headphone Edition" Roku.

Another great product from Roku

Syncs with other units seamlessly. Compact and easy to travel with. All you need is an HDMI port and USB port. Some older TV’s do not have an USB port so you may need to use the extension cable for power as the long range antenna is incorporated into that dongle.
