The New and Improved Roku Stick

I can avoid those by muting my television rather than increase or decrease the volume before and after the advertisements. I also love the ear buds that came with the remote.

Better than Vizio Smartcast but the OS feels dated

The Roku had better response time compared to Smartcast. However, I was a little disappointed at the sound reproduction since it sounds a bit flatter compared to Smartcast. (My 5.1 surround sound is passed-through my Yamaha YHT-4950UBL). It seems that the sound coming from the Roku sounds like stereo although when I check the sound info on the Vizio TV it states that the sound is Dolby. The screen presentation also seem kinda dated. Anyway, still happy with the purchase since when searching for shows Roku is pretty search-agnostic compared to the Amazon FireStick.

I do appreciate the free content apps, lots of great free shows. Something to consider is that Roku comes with a smart phone mobile app, which you can plug in your headphones and listen to your TV. If you don't mind using your phone, then there's no real reason to spend the extra money for the "Headphone Edition" Roku.

Just as Good as the Ultra except for ..

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has same capabilities as the more expensive ultra unit, a lot more compact and doesn't require outlet plug-in (gets it's power from the TV by plugging into USB port). A little detail that's not mention a lot, when you shut of your TV, you lose the power to the Roku stick as well, and when you turn the TV back on later, the stick needs to reboot which takes 20-30 seconds. Not a big deal, but with the standard units, the power remains on and doesn't have to reboot everything you turn on your TV.
