Behind the TV.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our TV is placed in a recessed area in the wall. We plugged in the Roku stick on our new TV. Even with a new router, we could only receive "Fair" ratings for reception. We switched it with an older Roku receiver with a separate shelf unit and it worked wonderful. This unit we placed on another TV out in a room, and got Excellent reception even further from our router.

Posted .Hello, Frosty. Thanks for sharing! It sounds like you’ve perfectly diagnosed a classic case of interference and shielding. When a Roku stick is tucked behind a TV—especially one inside a recessed wall—it is essentially trapped in a "dead zone." The TV itself acts as a massive metal and electronic shield, while the recessed wall limits how much the Wi-Fi signal can "bounce" around to reach the receiver. If you still want to use the Roku stick in that spot, you don't necessarily need a new router. You just need a HDMI Extender cable. Here's a free HDMI extender for you: https://my.roku.com/hdmi. Worst Roku product I have ever used.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This will be the 4th Roku I have owned. This is the only one that refused to connect to wireless during setup, immediately gave me "HDCP Error Detected" messages on all my apps once I finally got it connected, and then just produced a green screen after I unplugged it and plugged it back in until I reset my entire TV. What a piece of garbage, I regret this purchase.

Posted .Hi Jeff, help has arrived! Please be advised that HDCP errors happen when there is a problem with the physical connection or communication between your Roku and TV. Often, it's a simple matter of reconnecting the HDMI cable and switching to a different one. Please try to follow these troubleshooting steps: On your Roku player and TV, unplug each end of the HDMI cable. Power off your TV, and unplug its power cord. Remove the power cord from your Roku player. Reconnect both ends of the HDMI cables, ensuring each connector is attached firmly and securely.
