    Disappointing Voice Capablity

Purchased this because of the voice capability. It works to an extent but can be frustrating. It understands what you say about 50% of the time - even speaking in a clear manner so as not to confuse it. Initial setup was a mess - even though I already have a Roku account and have the smaller unit setup on another TV. I would expect it to offer to use those same settings - it did not. Initial setup involves entering email addresses/passwords for any accounts (Spectrum, Netflix, Prime, etc.) and each has to be done by using the remote keypad ( areal pain). The voice feature does not work for that. Amazing, the Apple TV box does and that's a 2 years old device. When setting it up, I selected only the services I wanted and did not request any others. Spectrum, Netflix and Prime - that's all. Nope, even though it said it was setting up the accounts (figured it was using my Roku account that already has that info) I had to enter each one manually via the remote. And then it installed 45 other channels that I did not want and had to delete those manually using the multi-step procedure using the remote. Using voice says "Voice not supported....". Of course it isn't - why make it easy to delete a channel...? So why did it ask what I wanted during the initial setup if it was ignoring my selections? Overall a very frustrating experience. I've been in computers/communications for over 50 years and I know when a product isn't ready for prime time - this voice feature needs a lot of work yet. If you need an Ethernet connection, USB port, microSD card port then those may be worth the aggravation. I only tested the Ethernet connection and that worked flawlessly. No other features were really tested. To provide some specifics. After getting it setup, signed into all accounts I tested the voice. Press the microphone button and said "Spectrum channel 9". Lot's of thinking and it went to the Roku channel which I believe is the default fallback. It did got to Netflix when I pressed the Netflix hot button and when I used the voice. Said "Netflix - (name of movie I was watching) and it went off to never-never land and found 3 movies by the name I said but not on the Netflix channel - on the Roku channel. Yes - the movie requested was playing on Netflix. While watching the Spectrum channel, it had a problem if you said "Channel 5 (or whatever channel)" and it never switched to it. Have to use the remote buttons to activate the guide to select the channel. Now you know why it's on sale.... Returned it today.

I really like the Roku functionality and how they layout all the services on screen, however after a while I have to keep resting it as it's gotten a little buggy, I don't know if it's the updates messing it up or what.

Be careful when buying- I bought this unit from the shelf thinking that it was the most recent version. I returned it when I realized that the new version was in store but not on display yet.

Works alright, but has on occasion dropped connectivity of the app selected. Have had to wait for minutes for reconnection for some reason. Happens more with YouTube TV, so there might be an issue with them.

As with the lesser models it is OK but not what I expected. Would like to have more mainstream channels. Like cable most of the channels don't interest me.

I tried changing from my Apple TV to a 4K roku. The quality was not there with how smooth the usability was. Returned it and spent the extra money for a 4K Apple TV. You get what you pay for.

It got three star cause it lacks app that I though were going to be available on Roku. ESPN+ and HBO Now/MAX aren't options on Roku. Two of the most streamed apps in my library.

They did not live this gift at all. My son got it hooked up for them and they said it was way to confusing to work. Unless you park in front of tv I don’t see the value.

    Roku terrible Audio technical support

Had issues from the start with installing the Roku device and interfacing to my Samsung system. The Roku device interface to TV with HDMI cable. The TV interfaces with a surround sound system. The Roku devise will only work with the TV internal system. It does not work with the surround system. I contacted Roku technical support multiple times over the past year. All I get is that my problem will be escalated to a higher support group. To date the problem is not solved.

The real problem is privacy. Read the ROKU privacy notice before buying any ROKU device, especially any ROKU TV. I'm not a legal scholar but it seems to say the device will collect massive amounts of data and ROKU will do anything with that data. What you watch, when you watch, what commercials you watch, what you click, any web pages you access via the streaming device, etc., and so forth. It's a really long document on what they will do with your data and habits. If you feel that all streaming services like NETFLIX or GOOGLE or Sling collect data so why not ROKU then buy this. The privacy for some of the other streaming services seems less intrusive. Also, the ROKU TV seems to be a smart TV with the capacity to record every click and it the TV seems to have a microphone... I never bought a ROKU TV so I could be paranoid, but I disable the microphone on any of my smart TV's. I returned the product and disabled my ROKU account. So I should award 5 stars to BEST BUY for a hassle free return.
