Could not figure out the difference between Roku 3 v/s Ultra....

Roku miss leads me into purchasing a lifetime subscription after I purchased this product. All I wanted to do was watch Netflix on my TV. I was told I could not unless I purchase a $150 subscription from Roku very misleading after the purchase extra costs for using this product

This product was an upgrade from the very first original Roku devices that I own (the original purple Roku stick and the Roku 3 device (I believe came out around 2011-2013)) and I’m very happy/excited I purchased this item. Pros: plug and play right out the box (connect to WiFi/Ethernet cord, go through the prompts on the device and that’s it you’re good to go), remote has: head-phone jack/volume control button/mute button (a huge plus when wanting to listen to shows in peace without disturbing others & one of the main reasons I choose this device compared to other Roku options), lightweight, sleek design, more freedom to download a lot of apps (compared to other streaming devices…at least in my opinion), cost: was a good deal to me (keep in mind I bought the Roku Ulta & Roku Ultra LT: both devices are almost identical as far as look goes, have ease of use right out the box, and the main difference I noticed is in the remote controls as far as looks/some functions (one has the voice control/button options of 1 & 2; the other does not have the number buttons on them), device comes with most the items you’ll need so it is literally ready to use right out the box which is really convenient and durability. Cons: the cons are not for the device itself but just my little rant of things I feel that could be improved overall (not just with Roku devices but any/all streaming devices in general): I wish all remotes came with the headphone jack that would be awesome and save some customers some money in the end because as I mentioned (as far as Roku devices goes) they all do the same thing and offer great service but the headphone jack is a huge plus in my opinion. It would be convenient if the buttons lit up as well for easier use at night (but you can always buy a remote cover that glows in the dark for that issue), and that’s about it. I would highly recommend this device to anyone; I gave one as a gift and the person was very happy because they were tired of paying high prices for cable, so it came right on time.

Not as easy to use as the apple TV. It works just OK for us.

AppleTV is much better from user experience. Roku is OK, however if given choice opt for the Apple product even if more expensive. Plus AppleTV has built in power-supply so it’s a cleaner install.

It is much faster but you periodically get an issue with cracking noise with the audio and the only thing you can do is reboot it. This is a known issue but they have yet to fix it. Disappointing because I love Roku’s products.

Paid extra to the the remote locator function. Box indicates it's sending signal, but remote does not respond, even 12' away sitting on top of the sofa in plain view... Otherwise the streaming function works well.

Worked fine but wireless headphones connection with AirPod pros only worked intermittently. Finally lost patience and had to unplug the device and replace with Apple TV unit.

This Media player is unable to disable wireless and only use IR from the remote. We much prefer a wired connection for better streaming fidelity, and this not being an option is a dealbreaking.

I really liked it while it worked...but it quit working after 6 hours. Tried everything to get it to turn back on...nope. Perhaps I just got a bad unit. I returned the ultra and got two of the other ROKU models that still control the TV volume (not all of them do), at half the price--those have worked perfectly. It WOULD be nice if the remotes would light. Also, make sure you are aware of the resolution setting and its affect on your data cap (if you have one). 1080P sucks up about 4GB per hour and 4K gobbles about 8GB per hour.

After a sad afternoon of actually looking at what my Comcast bill actually was, I decided the household would attempt to cut-the-cord. I didn't really know what that was on that particular afternoon other than an overused phrase. After research I found there were just a few steps: 1) create the streaming ecosystem to pull all the sources together 2) add the streaming services you want to the ecosystem 3) try streaming for 3-5 days while with the cable box turned off 4) cancel your cable. Step 1, and the point of this review: Although we have smart TVs, I've never been impressed with their ease-of-use. Several friends suggested I use Roku. For our test run (to see how it compared to cable), I bought a Roku Ultra (living room) and a Roku stick (den). Roku is super simple to set-up, whether Ultra or stick. From boot up to channel adding took 3 minutes. Adding "channels", which is Roku's word for streaming services, was quick. I can confidently say that about anyone who text on a phone can set-up Roku in the same amount of time as me. As for the Roku, I really liked the Ultra (fast and powerful) so I took the stick back to exchange for another Ultra. The stick is very good, but compared to the Ultra, it does seem a step slower. As you can see, I'm a now a fan of Roku and especially the Ultra. We cancelled cable 3 days into the test and have not missed it even once. If you are interested, we went with YouTube TV as our main carrier (great channels, including locals), plus Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO Now. I'm saving $100/month compared to cable and get the exact same channels I had with cable... actually more now that Comcast moved Turner Classic to a higher paid group. Blah.

Set up was fairly streamlined. All little long because they try to educate you on all available apps. Still, it loaded up fine and worked out of the box. Lost internet connection once and the Roku now will not exit the loading screen(the bouncing Roku logo). Tried multiple resets, cycling power, Roku help blogs, etc... NO DICE... Software issues probably... It’s going back, don’t want to deal with... A product like this should just work and not require troubleshooting after 2-days of use! Spend the extra $75 on Apple TV.

The roku ultra constantly gives me an HDCP errors on anything higher than 1080p content, I thought it was audio quest cable but it wasn’t. I then had Geeksquad out to look at my oled and it wasn’t the ports or settings, it was however my roku. I exchanged the roku for another device because of the persisting issue and constantly having to reboot the device. I would give this no stars if I could

This is the THIRD Roku of this model i buy. It's the only 1 for some unknown reason that works on my tv's. When it's working...it's great! But after at most 1 year, it starts to freeze where you can't. Navigate the app. Of course there's no live support number. Ive Googled for "how to" and have exhausted all. Im just glad when i bought it i had rewards that lowered the price.

The remote finder is defective. It doesn't work if you lose the remote. It only works after you push a button on the remote. The remote goes to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity, once it does the remote finder wont make any noise. After contacted roku and explaining everything to them, they ignored my email and i cant call because of covid19. Once they get their phone lines working again i will be calling them to give them a piece of my mind!

Hulu keeps freezing up and Roku keeps resetting. Hardware is running the latest updates and Hulu is latest version.

This is my 4 Roku purchased and I'm very disappointed because there are no JBL headphones and enhanced voice remote don't work!

Bought this for my wife’s tv but I ended up returning it because it kept giving me problems the remote would stop working & I would have to reset it more then once after no even having it 20 days I returned it the other roku stick works way better and is cheaper then this one.
