There are still many apps missing from Roku and HBO MAX, CINEMAX are still not available on the Roku channel why. Roku could be better then this and sadly It is not.

HBO Max is now available on all Roku devices as of December 2020. You can find the Cinemax channel available on The Roku Channel. Simply navigate to the Search tab on the home screen of your Roku and search for each channel by name to download.

So, if you like one particular episode, there isn't a way to view it without having to move forward until all later episodes are played.
