Roku 4K

The unit makes a slight noise when scrolling thru icons. Dont know if the newly included ear buds are JBL as they were in the 2019 model. wish it could set the display to be anamorphic at 2.35:1 for projectors.

Decent streamer

I can't say this was a good replacement. It does decently but it's not in the same category as the Shield. The most annoying feature is that, unlike the Shield, Dolby Vision isn't automatically switched on or off. So in Dolby mode the menu screen is incredibly eyeball searing - HDR mode is NOT suitable in static menu screens. I switch to 4K only mode, but the device keeps going back to Auto setting and changes back to HDR mode sometimes. If it weren't cheap I'd return it and just buy another Shield but I'm keeping it just as a back up in case it's a physical defect of my Shield instead of a software issue.

Posted .Hello, we appreciate your feedback. Based on your review, it sounds like you may have seamless mode turned on. We'd recommend trying to turn this off in your TV's advanced settings. Look for the "HDR Always On" setting and be sure it's turned off.

A Bit Faulty

Problem is, it likes to restart itself quite often. It did so three times yesterday whilst watching WW84 on HBO Max and Soul on Disney+.

Works Great...When it Works!

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Roku Ultra and a second regular Roku stick after both of my previous Roku sticks would not connect to the internet. As a sidebar, I did verify my wireless router was working properly and 5 other home devices were all connected and working. This would happen randomly in the past where they would simply not connect, then after a while they just start working again. After several days of neither of them working I looked for alternatives to little avail. It seems every streaming device has some recurring issue according to the reviews, so I decided to try again hoping they had received enough feedback on their product to address the problem, also hoping the Ultra may work better. It lasted less than a month before I got the same error message showing a failure to connect. One again, all other home devices were connected and working properly. It's own system settings verified it was receiving a strong signal but would not connect. It took at least a dozen tries over 2 days using every troubleshooting technique I could come up with. On the third day, I started to disconnect the device and return it to Best Buy since I had purchased the extended warranty this time. On a whim, I decided to turn the TV on one last time. It immediately worked like it had never had an issue. I'm frustrated at this point with Roku in general. Not just because of the connection issues, but more so due to the complete lack of customer service. After finally locating their phone number through an internet search (which was a challenge in itself, they intentionally discourage calling by NOT publishing it) I called only to be told over and over by the automated system that my expected wait time was 15 minutes, then 12 minutes, then 25 minutes, then 18 minutes.... you get the point. After 30 minutes of the computer telling me random wait times to be expected I had enough and hung up. I'm convinced their intention is to get people to do just that so they can avoid dealing with frustrated customers and not have to admit they have issues.

Great video quality

The interface is a little dated and is not the quickest on the block. Some apps crash on it like Disney+. Hopefully after some updates they can fix some of the bugs.

Roku Ultra - big improvement
