Great Unit
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my older Roku awhile ago and I love this Roku. The setup is extremely easy. The 4K picture is unbelievable. You have to pay extra on your Netflix account to get the 4K content, but it is more than worth it. I am able to watch a lot of 4K content at a fraction of what a stand alone Ultra High Def. DVD player cost. Then you have to buy the Ultra DVDs separately, which are considerably more expensive. When I first saw some of this content, I was blown away. You also get Youtube videos in 4K at no extra cost. If your a music fan, you will really appreciate this. The extremely sharp picture in a Katty Perry video or Taylor Swift or Chris Stapleton, or whomever you like. You are able to get most channels for free. They are easy to get, just go online and choose the ones you want, enter a code and they then are added to your lineup. I am up to over 275 channels. Haha. I have read some reviews stating that the sound is bad. I just hooked it up to my AV Receiver and play it through my speakers and the sound is great. I get great 7.1 surround sound. For the money, this unit cannot be beat. I highly recommend it. You will not be sorry. One last thing, I love that there is a headphone jack built into the remote. I am able to listen to whatever I want, at whatever volume, anytime I want. Great feature.

Top-notch Perfomer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own 2 other roku's (stick 2014 model and Roku 3 also 2014) and this 4K ultra is no doubt the best streamer in terms of BLAZING speed...start-up and navigation. Outstanding search feature using your voice that looks across all major apps for desired content. Set-up of the roku was a breeze. Picture quality simply put is outstanding across all the major apps I've used (Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, HBO Go, Showtime). Only issue of minor significance to report was the aquatic life screensaver...for some reason this particular screensaver would lock-up my roku, meaning I had to unplug it and plug it back in. I switched my screensaver to the digital clock and no issues whatsoever on roku locking up. I'll contact the company later today on this issue.

Fast, Smooth, Lots of Apps
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far the Roku Ultra has been a very good streaming box, with a few minor hiccups here and there. Netflix especially has a tendency to hang up and even occasionally completely freeze the box, requiring a power on and off reset. The remote is fantastic with it's voice search capacity and headphone jack. Great App selection.

The best Roku to date
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the Premiere+ and exchanged it for this one, not that the Premiere+ was a bad product at all, but I wanted to have optical audio output so I could have true surround sound on my LG soundbar out of the Roku so the Ultra was needed. This Roku is super stable and extremely fast! in fact is the fastest Roku to date, the graphics card on this thing is amazing movies and all types of videos really come to life, even in 1080p I can notice the difference from my Roku3. I also had the Nvidia Shield and finally sold it because of the lack of apps on that platform, many apps that are available for Roku are still not available for Android TV, so the Roku Ultra was no brainer. If you are on the fence give it a try, chances are you will keep it and really enjoy it, it's simply the best streaming device on the market today.

Roku Ultra - Beautiful Picture and Sound, but ...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Roku Ultra has beautiful picture and sound, but if you are buying this to watch 4K and 7:1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound it is not a good idea. We tried two different units and they both had the exact same problems. The picture wants to flash and the sound has a popping sound to it. Also, you get a purple screen saying you are not authorized and telling you to go to Roku.com to HDCP 2.2 which just states you need the jacks on all units to be HDCP2.2 even if you already have them like that. We had Ultra High Definition HDMI cables with an 18 GB bandwidth. So everything was hooked up the way it was supposed to be but we still had these problems. I would advise waiting until they get the software problem straightened out in this unit before purchasing. We did return both units we tried. Also, you can see that they keep dropping the price on this unit so there must be some type of problem with it. Called Roku 3 different times and they never did return my call. Good luck.

Great for viewing PS VUE in 4k
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Use this on my 4k tv to watch PS VUE. I can confirm it does in fact convert PS VUE to 4k on my tv and 60FPS. Unit is fast and the voice search is useful but only works within the Roku itself and not any apps. Make sure you have the correct HDMI standard, I had to use a newer cable for it to detect 4k.

One Serious Problem you NEED TO KNOW ABOUT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is overall an excellent steaming device. It is fast, it's easy, and setup isn't too bad. As a matter of fact, I only have one problem overall with this player: It's the fact that it can't play the Amazon Video app correctly. Therefore, IF you use the Amazon video app, you are going to have a serious Lip-Sync issue. That is going to cause the audio to come .5 secs before the video. I've taken this issue up with both Roku and Amazon, and it's a known issue. According to my own research, there are people who owned last year's Roku 4 and were also experiencing this issue in December 2015! So, I can NOT recommend this player if you plan on using the Amazon Video App. No other apps that I've used have this issue, but the Amazon Video App is a major app and it not working correctly is enough for me to recommend this product with caution. Again, every other app seems fine so far. This issue affects the Roku Ultra and the Premiere+.

Very Nice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy setup. Very very good picture. Video is very smooth with no halting or lag (though I should probably note that my Roku connection is with Ethernet, not wireless). Unlike the Roku4, the Ultra has no fan so there is no noise to disturb your viewing.

better than roku 4
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.have had a xs, roku 3 and roku 4 prior to this. Roku 4 never solved issues with firmware and poor performance/stuttering/freezing. This player has a lot less issues but it does seem to get overwhelmed, freeze and restart once every few days when watching something ,especially if its 4k.

Better than Apple TV and less expensive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always been an Apple fan but have been discouraged with the lack of progress with Apple on 4k for my TV. So I decided to try Roku. I found the Roku to be extremely easy to set up, have all the apps I needed (Plex, Hulu, Netflix, Fox Go) plus many more and the interface and remote are very nice. The setup was quick and simple, the remote is excellent, the interface very easy to navigate, adding apps easy and the quality of the picture is superb. I picked the Ultra because of a couple of features - it plays 4k with HDR, the headphone option built into the remote and the "find the remote" feature. I love the Roku and will choose it every time over Apple TV. It has great quality, easier remote and interface, less expensive and plays 4k with HDR. A great product and purchase!

Great, 5 star product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I may have given this product 5 stars as it works very well. However it lacks composite video and analog audio outputs for older televisions. It also only uses RF (radio) for the remote and can't be "learned" into universal remotes. However, I did order a cheap Roku remote online that works for all models (meaning infrared), and viola, it controls this unit perfectly! Which means that this cheapie remote can program your learning remotes. I have not tried the headphone in the remote function as it is not needed in my home theater. This unit is quick and functional and above all, it works with Sling. Too many devices DO NOT. I now need a way to feed the programming to other rooms without remote control interference. Roku should offer a box that splits HDMI into HDMI for the main room, and composite outputs for older systems in other rooms.

Stay away, read the Roku forum, nothing but issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would start by going to Roku's forum and read some threads there. You will see there are lots of people have the same issues I described below. Stay away from Roku. Very poor customer service, no audio, loud popping chirping, HDCP 2.2 errors, and no communication on a fix. In the forum there are threads of the problems described below going back to January 2017, 4 months and no update or communication of an update. My experience is below. I have/had a Roku 4 that displayed 4k content and had no issues with the sound, it worked great. Then I got an email promotion to get the Ultra at a discount because I already had a Roku 4. Great, I will move the 4 to the bedroom and put the ultra in the living room. But when I go to watch any movie on Vudu with the Ultra that is DD+ 7.1 I have no sound. The latest example would be Star Wars Rouge One, no sound when playing HDX DD+ 7.1. If I switch it to SD, which is DD+ 5.1 it works fine. On top of having no sound for some movies, I am also getting a loud chirping/popping every 10-15 minutes or so on all content. I am also getting HDCP 2.2 error sometimes when watching 4k movies. Again, the Roku 4 never had any of these issues with the same exact setup. I know what you are thinking, just move the Roku Ultra to the bedroom and the Roku 4 to the living room. Well the Roku 4 will no longer turn on and when I called about it I was told it was 2 weeks out of warranty, too bad, buy a new one. Very poor customer service and not very happy about that either but that is an entirely different issue. I was on the phone for 50 minutes last night with tech support and they gave me a case number (that I forgot at home so I don’t have it) and was told somebody else would call me back to help. Well no phone call. They had me unplug and plug in the Roku Ultra and the TV, didn’t work. Go through the settings on the Roku Ultra, didn’t work. Remove the Vudu channel and add it, didn’t work. Switch HDMI cables and HDMI ports on the TV, didn’t work. I went as far as to hook up the Roku Ultra directly to the receiver with an optical cable on the second optical input so it wouldn’t go through the TV, didn’t work. All the HDMI cables I have are rated for high speed 4k content. I have the Roku Ultra wired directly to my modem and is a 60 Mbps I am at the point now where I wish I never bought the Roku Ultra and I wish my Roku 4 still turned on. I am very, very disappointed in Roku and I don’t think I would recommend any Roku products to anybody.

Roku Ultra does not work with SlingTV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This new Roku Ultra does not work with SlingTV (authorization error 8-270) but it works fine with Hulu and Amazon. My Roku Express & Roku Stick have no issues with SlingTV. I already called Roku with no solution and I am going to call SlingTV. I will update my review rating once I understand the issue.
