We got this 360 camera for a great price...too bad we can't use it on our cruise anymore. It is great for hikes though!

It works well. It is a nice alternative to the GoPro. There just need to be more accessories for the Rylo.

This is an excellent action cam, for a few reasons. Let me explain. Quality: Feels solid as a rock, though not inherently waterproof without an extra case, the metal is quality and it feels like I could throw it through a small house without hurting the camera (not recommended). Ease of use: extremely easy. One button: hold to turn on or off, press once to start recording and again to stop. The only other button is to change from 360 degree recording to 180 degree (if the back camera is blocked for example), or to change it to photo mode. You then plug in the included cable to for your phone....and voila, videos and pictures are there. Super easy! What I love is that you can mount it or hold it anywhere and it doesn't matter where it is facing as it records basically everything all the time. Later, you just pick what you wanted to look at and you're good to go!. Video quality: amazing. the videos are sharp and color is great. The only downside is that it does need a good bit of light as quality does go down when the subjects are lit very well. App: Very easy to use. Pulls video from the camera onto your phone for editing. You can chose what to look at, have it follow a subject, look at certain area's automatically while watching the video, watch both cameras at once and more. Very intuitive and easy to use. The auto stabilization is quite good, though when I mounted the camera to my jet ski I turned that off for a more natural feel. When walking around holding the camera, stabilization is a must! Super easy to use, makes using the camera enjoyable as you don't have to sync to a computer later, its all right there! Overall: excellent camera, highly recommended. The only downfall is that it is not waterproof, I bought an extra "Action case" that works well, but that is a different review. Taking this on my jet ski gets some great video, and because I can mount it anywhere and still see everything, it makes it all worth it!

I bought this camera to capture 1 specific shot of a lifetime and somehow during filming the camera decided to stop recording and corrupt the file. I am unable to retrieve the video therefore missing the shot. Customer service for Rylo has no advice on how to fix the issue. I should have stuck with the other brand. Maybe next time I use it it’ll work but I’ll be using the ‘other’ brand as a backup. Lesson learned.

I really wanted to like this camera and expected it to be a GoPro replacement. Unfortunately it's way too fragile (adventure case scratched before any "adventure") and anything done indoors will not look well. If you're using it for outdoors videos and will benefit of the stabilization, go for it. Otherwise, maybe on their next iteration.

I’m extremely impressed with the Rylo 360 action camera. This is the first 360 degree action camera I’ve ever used and had somewhat low expectations since this is still a fairly new technology for consumer products. Needless to say all of my expectations were completely smashed and I’ve been blown-away by the overall performance and ease of use. I’ve owned this camera for a week now and have used it for hiking, jogging, biking and video while riding in a car. In every situation the video quality came out clear and more stable than any other camera I’ve ever used, even compared to my other action camera when attached to a gimbal stabilizer. The Rylo, without any stabilizer connected, still outperforms in stabilization. Since all of the stabilization comes from the firmware and app software I imagine this will only get better as more updates are received. The camera itself is very basic in the way it was built, which is a good thing as it makes the camera very easy to use. There are only two buttons, one to power on/off and start record or take a photo and another for changing the mode between 180 degree video, 360 degree video and panoramic 360 degree photos The display shows the mode icon, battery life and estimated time available for recording and/or photos remaining. There is also a red bar/light that displays while recording which is nice to have. The camera vibrates and beeps when powering on/off and starting or stopping recording. The Rylo itself will power off automatically about about 5 minutes if not being used. The lenses on both sides of the camera pop out so you do need to be careful when setting it down as there doesn’t seem to be a good way to sit one of these 360 degree cameras down without worrying about the lenses getting scratched or damaged. Fortunately Rylo included a heavy cloth sleeve carry case that I always put the camera into before sitting it down. The Rylo camera also comes with an everyday case and handle with a standard three prong connector. The bottom cap on the handle unscrews to reveal a threaded mount that can be used for a tripod or whatever you need to attach it to. The editing software in the Rylo app is simple, easy to use and works very well. With the app you can trim, crop, level out the video, adjust the lighting and shadows add a timelapse, motion blur your video and so much more! You can tell it where and when to focus or “look” and you can change it at multiple points throughout the video, which is really cool. Being able to edit a 360 degree video into a fixed frame video after the fact is a really nice feature and something that couldn’t be done nearly this easily before. The timelapse feature works very well for long videos when you want to speed things up a bit. When editing your video it’s very easy to get the angle you want by simply pointing and dragging your finger on the video, it’s that easy. For taking photos there is a timer setting that can be adjusted through the app, you can choose to enable a 3 second or 10 second timer and the display shows a countdown after you press the capture button. I didn’t see a way to put together multiple clips in the app just yet but I hope this is something they will add in the future. Audio is pretty great most of the time but there are some situations where it’s just okay such as when there is a lot of wind or bumping around on a mountain bike. The battery life is pretty standard for most action cameras and the battery is removable. You can purchase an extra battery on Rylos website and you can also purchase a waterproof case if needed. After a week with this camera I am very happy with everything about it, the design, the video quality and the stabilization are all top of the line. The stabilization is actually truly amazing and you won’t find yourself needing to buy a gimbal stabilizer for this camera. I highly recommend the Rylo 360 action camera to anyone looking to buy one, you will not be disappointed!

    Amazing Concepts, Lacking Android App

This is one of the coolest gadgets I've used in quite some time, unfortunately hindered by a buggy Android app; I can't speak to the iOS app as I don't have an iPhone, but I'm assuming it works better based on the videos I've seen. From the second you open the package, this camera screams quality, and looks really sleek. The build quality feels utterly premium, with the heavy duty metal casing, in a way that GoPros simply don't. The camera also consists of only two buttons; the shutter button on the top, which doubles as the power button, and the button beside the screen which toggles between shooting modes. That's it. The idea here is that everything else is handling via the app, which I like a lot. Speaking of which, connection to the app is handled via the included micro USB to micro USB/USB C/Lightning cables. I really like this. Though it's one more cable to lose, connecting directly to my phone to transfer videos and pics is not only faster, but much more reliable than wireless connections that I've used on other cameras for transfer. Once you start using the camera, you get a sense that this type of camera is the future of amateur video production. The concept that you can shoot a video and later tweak production by dictating shooting angles/directions makes so much sense that it's hard to believe this really hasn't been done before, at least in the way that the Rylo 360 cam does it. The app allows you to set focus points that slowly shift as the video elapses, allowing for smooth pans that look professional. You can also set fixed focal points (for instance, you can lock on to a person's face). This is where I ran into the first bug in the Android app, unfortunately. After setting a fixed focal point on my face for one video, the app wouldn't play back video a few times, and when it did, it pretty easily lost focus. The bright side to this is that, since it's all based on the app, there is a great chance that this will be fixed in the future, and it seems as though Rylo has been dedicated to bringing enhancements and new features to the app; I received a push shortly after getting the camera which enabled longer self timer shutter times as an option. Besides some app issues, my main issue with the Rylo 360 cam is that it has no water proof rating. This is a fairly significant downside in my eyes. This camera would work best if it had the type of water proofing that is common on some others of this type, but I guess it's an obvious trade off for having a 360 degree camera that actually functions well. Rylo does sell a case which adds water proofing, but it's fairly expensive and the reviews don't seem to be great on it. In summary, this camera (and more accurately, the app concept) is awesome. It feels like a fairly revolutionary step forward in amateur video shooting, but in my experience, the Android app holds it back from being truly exceptional. I have zero doubt that Rylo will continue to work on this, however.
