Overall my wife and I thought it has good functionality.
BIGGEST PROBLEMS = door trim completely fell off (after 2 months) and unable to receive warranty service from Samsung.
Details-
The controls take some time to get used to:
- No numeric keypad, dial instead
- Since it can do so many functions, function must be chosen first - even if just doing quick reheat with microwave.
- For microwave, it defaults to 100% power but must confirm that or wait for it to time out and accept the default.
- My "quick keystrokes" for simple heating = Microwave, Ok (for 100%), then Quick 30 to start it, and add additional 30-second periods as necessary. So it is not unwieldy in terms of key presses, but is an adjustment after decades of quicker actions with other models.
It seems like there is an assumption of using the auto cook features; that it is more likely to press "autocook 2 potatoes" or "cook popcorn" or "defrost chicken" and the unit will figure out the rest.
And again, the extra key presses are because it can do SO MUCH-
We mainly used it for microwave. Not quite as powerful as what we were using before, but decent.
We have used the convection bake. Takes a while to heat up, but so does a full-size oven; therefore it is a good middle ground solution.
The air fry feature worked well. Seems not as quick as dedicated air fry appliance, but also saves counter space.
Same with Grill feature to brown items, including combo to microwave quick cook and then brown to finish.
The "crusty plate" and 2-level racks are nice additions.
DOOR TRIM PROBLEM-
After using it for only 2 months, the entire front door trim fell off!! The door will not stay open without it, plus no handle to open it with anyway. It will not stick back on.
When I tried to request service from Samsung, I receive a message saying that the warrant expired on 10/31/2020. That was 6 days before I even purchased the unit from BestBuy.com. It is supposed to have a 1-year warranty from purchase date. This model is still for sale on BestBuy.com, and even on Samsung.com. I remain hopeful that between BB and Samsung, they will figure out a way to replace the unit.

I’ve had this oven for 2 months now and even though the learning curve was a little steep I love it! I was able to install it in a cabinet (with ample ventilation). I especially like that the door opens downward like a real oven, for easy access. It doesn’t do great for toast but the microwave grill combo delivers a juicy chicken breast in about 11 minutes. I haven’t used the slim fry option yet but I’m looking forward to using it as a second oven for holiday meal prep. The 1.1 cubic ft is the perfect size.

I would not recommend this microwave. Not even 1 year yet and the pull down door cover is falling off. I only got this due to my previous microwave from Samsung not being available as a warranty replacement. A few things to note: inputting a microwave cook/heat time is a mission within itself. I honestly haven’t been please with the conventional oven functionality so I have used it only a handful of times. I thing heating food is not the best as it still leaves some areas unheated. I do love the size and how sleek it looks but for functionality I’d give it a 2 stars rating. The price deserves a 1 star. Look elsewhere if you would like a conventional microwave oven.

Nice downward opening door allows easy access for those who have issues with opening from inconvenient corners. Works good but does not cook pizza etc. built my own casement and looks great. Be sure to keep a space between casement and microwave. Well worth the money and cheaper than any other type

Flimsy handle cracked during normal use -- it may have softened after a few hours of baking at 350. Unacceptable.

This is my first countertop convection microwave oven
Well on vacation the rental house had one of these and I really thought it was quite sexy
The user manual is frankly useless
They're really should be more YouTube videos on how to do anything.
The Best buy support online is laughable nobody knows anything about this unit.
But from my cursory experience I am able to roast tomatoes peppers garlic and onions in a Pyrex tray using the convection oven settings in 10 - 20 minutes making an excellent fresh tomato sauce for my pasta or whatever
I don't know what any of the presettings do it would be very helpful if there was a user guide that would tell me as I mentioned earlier there is a quick guide when you open the door but it's never for what you want.
So execution of the unit yeah good
Follow up after producing & it putting it in a box ...really bad
I could buy almost any convection microwave countertop unit at this price point so Samsung you need to do better and Best buy if you're going to carry a product you need to do better too I'm being generous with four stars

It is tempting to buy a big microwave with a ton of bells and whistles, but when I consider what I actually use my microwave for, this fit me perfectly.
I purchased this microwave because I liked the pull-down door opposed a side door. As my first experience with a convection oven, I was impressed. I have used the convection feature for crisping my food items, and this oven does the trick.
If you are not interested in a convection component, I would not recommend this microwave.
As I currently understand the operation (I have not looked this up in the accompanying manual, so it may be an easy fix), I need to choose “microwave” first, then the amount of time in 30 -second increments, every time I microwave anything. Consequently, if I am cooking convection style, that button needs to be selected. If I just want to re-heat my coffee, I need to select the microwave button, then the time. If there is a way in which to make “microwave” a default setting in order to avoid needing to select it every time I use the microwave, I have yet to figure it out.
Clock setting- This microwave makes it too challenging for what should be a 2- second process. Most microwaves you simply select “clock”, set the time, hit “clock” again, and that’s it. Not with this microwave. This is why I rated this product with 4 stars rather than 5.
However, like many appliances and devices, once you get used to the operation, you will find it is great microwave. You will get an excellent product for the price.

this is yet another smart thing. A smart microwave. Have French fries without the grease. Computerized censored, perfect cooking, grilling, convection, and power defrosting. everything a normal microwave don't do. It's also very quiet, and easy to clean. Lot's of one touch features. I'm very happy with this purchase, and my extended $60 warranty.

ALL microwaves should be convection microwaves. With this microwave I am able to reheat things which would get soggy in a conventional microwave, case in point, fried seafood. By preheating the microwave with the convection oven and using the combination mode you can reheat items quickly and maintain crispness. This oven is also great for baking as there are no hot spots, the air is circulated to heat food evenly. I frequently make a couple of mini loafs of cornbread, which come out fine, saving lots of electricity over the conventional oven. I do not use the broil function much but it very effectively browned some rolls for me.
In the North East a little excess heat from a standard sized oven is not usually a problem but this oven can do small to medium baking jobs using less electricity and emitting less wasted heat.

This microwave is pretty sweet. I love how the door opens from the top so I can rest food on it when Im pulling it out. The touch buttons are very responsive and I like the dial. The microwave is very quiet. We haven't used any of the other cooking features yet but it works really well as a microwave.

This thing does everything! It does so many things the user manual is confusing and a little overwhelming but if you mark the settings you use frequently it becomes easy. Plus there’s a little quick reference guide inside the door frame on top so you don’t need the book every time. It’s a replacement for a burned up microwave, toaster, big oven, toaster oven, grill, and does it all fast. So far I’m pleased. Never thought I’d own a convection oven, thought it was a gimmick but it works. No I haven’t tried the popcorn button yet. But it grills chicken, bakes sausage balls, and makes toast! Plus all the regular microwave stuff. Took a little while to get used to the multi-function knob but after I developed a shortcut it’s faster than pressing buttons. Hit microwave, press start and it’s going for 30 seconds on full power, then while it’s running twist the knob to add time and walk away.

Having a small, quick heating convection oven in combination with a microwave has proven quite convenient. The microwave works well. The ability to quickly heat a breakfast pastry or a slice of pizza without "microwave wilting" it at the same time is where the convection oven shines.
The wide range of functions is more than most users will need. This leads to a good deal of button pushing in combination with dial twisting to accomplish even simple tasks. Reading of the manual will be required before your first use and whenever you do something out of the ordinary. Keep it handy.
For me, the convection oven feature outweighs the marginal ergonomics. You'll have to make the judgement based on your needs.

Pro's : Good overall strong microwave but not state of the art as in inverter technology. Convection and mico combo settings work together well. Only real Con is it could be a little bigger and have better interior lighting. Not too bad however for an every day oven

We wanted to try out a convection oven and saw this microwave/convection oven combination. It opens from the top vs the side, which I am finding I don't really like. And we have not taken the time to use the convection oven yet. It is quieter than our last one and seems to heat the food more evenly using the microwave. When we are setting the microwave time, we have to wait about 15 seconds before being able to program the time. Takes some getting used to. Looking forward to trying the convection oven part out...when I take the time to read the instructions!

This unit does a great job at heating food. It is much faster than other units I have used in the past so be sure that you tone down the seconds. The sensor is the best way to go as it does a great job of stopping at the right time. Just keep the instruction manual out for the first month because you will use it to reference the sensor settings. It lets you microwave 2 plates at the same time which is awesome as well!

We really love and enjoy this convection microwave as it lets us cook smaller items without using our full sized convection oven. The sensors and presets work wonderful.
The bad news is here we are a week or so away from the 1yr purchase date and the grill and convection parts have suddenly stopped working properly. The grill doesn't heat up at all. The convection part seems to heat (still glows red) but the fan that circulates the air seems to have also stopped. I put in a service request with Samsung so I am currently waiting on them to call me back for an appointment. Worst case is that they are of no help and I use the 4yr protection plan I purchased through Best Buy.
Though it sucks to have the current issue, if things are fixed to get us back up and running then I will be happy. Things happen and that's why there is a warranty. We will definitely need to adjust our lunch and dinner uses this has been a workhorse for. I expect Samsung to take care of it quickly.

nice compact unit for counter top. Cooks well and very versatile.
Why they did not include a simple timer is a puzzle and a negative.
Door is a pull down so you don't have to be concerned about the direction of the door swing.

For someone who doesn't like microwaves, I am definitely impressed and sold. Now I have owned microwaves before and stopped using them shortly after purchase because I didn't like them (an emerson that sparked, a kenmore that made loud awkward noises, a sunbeam that heated nothing, and a sharp that burned everything) I bought the microwave for the rest of my family to use, and I finally decided to give it a few tries. The sensor cooking is spot on for reheating leftovers. The pork chop was hot and still moist, the potatoes hot all the way through, and the beans still tender and crunchy. Love the light touch and the vertical door and child lock, it's also really quiet. The ceramic interior is a bonus for people who forget to cover saucy/oily food. The grill works great, no sparks so far, unlike my emerson. I guess the only thing I was kind of unhappy about was that it didn't play music like the washer/dryer, or phones lol.

I love this Samsung microwave. It's more compact than our over-the-range GE microwave, but just as powerful. And it replaces the need for a separate toaster oven. I've been impressed to find that it can cook things crispier and faster than our full-size oven!
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of buying an open-box model to save a few bucks. It was promised to be in "excellent" like-new condition. It arrived a few days later, wrapped in a massive amount of bubble wrap, in a semi-crushed box. (Our local UPS seems to regularly destroy packages like this.) Amazingly, the microwave was unharmed, and we immediately started using it. There were some subtle clues that this was a return, like scratches on the Teflon tray. That didn't bother me, but the fact that the two wire racks it comes with were missing did. I tracked down the Samsung part numbers and called Best Buy to find out if they could send me the racks. They said they could not, and instead I would have to repackage and return the microwave via UPS and have a new one shipped to me. This was a frustrating amount of work, but I did it. A few days later, a new open-box microwave arrived, this time in the original box and with all the accessories. Unfortunately, this one started smoking as soon as I turned it on, and didn't stop for five minutes after I unplugged it. It seems extremely likely that somebody bought this unit, had this happen to them, and returned it, and Best Buy then resold it as an open-box unit instead of dealing with the malfunction. Once again, I had to repackage the microwave and return it, but this time, I chose to take it back to our local Best Buy, in the hopes that they would not once again sell it to somebody else.
I finally gave up on this incredibly frustrating open-box experience and just bought a new one, which by then had come down $20 in price and was only $15 more than the open-box price. It's been working great since we got it. Lesson learned: never buy open-box from Best Buy.
